I ll do my best to explain since english isn t my first language but you can turn the picture into black and white, then increase the whites and you ll end up with your shadow on a white surface that you can blend later onto the background, but you ll probably have to cut out the object and only keep the shadow. Im sure there are more ways to do that and probably simpler ones but this is what i know
You should make it clear that this will only work if the background of the object layer is solid white or very light solid grey like in the example, and the image should preferably be grey scale.
I love the auto select feature now omg saves so much time. Also, I know you mention curves a lot, but it still confuses me what I’m looking at. Do you have more in depth videos on the graph and what it means?
i guess this could work.. but generally this guid doesnt work, you need to have a flat background, rhe source image needs to have a plain light background for the miltiply to work and in must situations this just dowant look good, learn to paint shadows by hand
You can also simply apply a drop shadow and go up to Layers and select "make layer" that makes the shadow be an editable object on its own layer. Tons faster and easier.
@@aper6014 true, that's where the editable bit comes in. Feather it, distort it, layer different levels of feathering. You get a process down. In InDesign to combat the fake look, I dupe a shape I want to drop shadow. Move it to the art board. Use the X Y arrows to move the shadow back on the page. I feather the shape on the art board to opacity, angle, distort, and I can make the shadow look real. Grab everything paste in a frame, now I have a clean design group I can move around the page as needed. Point is, you can make shadows realistic if you find techniques to modify them. 😃
you won’t see this, but I’m starting a clothing brand and don’t know how to make the clothing photos like perfect in line. Smooth etc. , perfectly straight. Haven’t found an answer how they do it
You have gone ultra instinct with photoshop now. 😂. The creator of photoshop should give him an award for knowing all the functions of this app.
Lol i agree
he forgot to mention that the object layer's background has to be white. otherwise, multiply won't work as shown in this video.
@@torababdullah7952he try to genius dude, lehim do, 😬
There's no _creator_ there are hundreds and probably thousands of people working and worked in the past on Photoshop. :D

@@LuminantDreams I can't even see where you can do that here
what is the app?
bro knows photoshop better than the coders.
I would love to see if there is a way to extract shadows from a more complicated background other than just white.

Multiply won't work like that if the background isn't white. Just a fair warning to you hopeful photoshoppists.
It is important to add that this only works with a shadow layer that is a grayscale
Thats a relief. He shouldve told that at first itself. Damn it was such a waste of time.
yes i wasted my time because of that
This is great ! However it is reliant on having a similar background!
I really like how you teach photoshop 👍🏻👍🏻
Every time I watch this guy, I become speechless. I mean, I watch his video alone, so there really isn't anyone to talk to about this 😅

Just greyscale the background and adjust the dark greys with curves layer
Object has to be completely white or gray scale not multicolored

Everything is good but the shadow need to follow the BG Structure as well to make it feel real 😎
You're my hero.. i follow you on YT as well...
What can I do if my background has texture??
The shadow will have the texture from its original background
Please anyone can help?

How did I just know about this??
Does anyone know why I can’t see the shadow layer on top of the background? I’m using a solid white colour fill background layer.
There is no way, anyone would need to know this.
Tbh, been using photoshop for about 10 years, never used ctrl J. Always copy pasted lol.
You could also double click on the layer to access the fx thingy and there will be a drop shadow you could use and adjust
This person is a wizard 😂
please please please please please tell me where can I find that background
Please make more like this product image edit. 🤩🙏
Is there a App on Android to do that ?

Your Photoshop skills or just legend
I’m just basic at Photoshop
But this only apply for white background right? 🤔 is there any ways for lot more complicated background?
I’m trying but in some images when I set multiply the backgroung don’t disappear and stay like a black with a little opacity
this is not working with every background
Why you shoot vertically? Why not diagonally?

Is possible without shadow products

You can also use a drop shadow- it’s a bit easier and faster.
Yea, but wouldn't look as realistic.
@@pablo46s True they both work- depends on if you need it to be that good or just a quick shadow in the background.
What of if it is a PNG image without shadow?
