  • Welcome back! Today we’re going to be reviewing the differences between the fluke 376fc and 378fc. Giving a full tutorial on both and explaining the new features of the 378fc! Please ignore me brain fart in saying capacitor completely wrong I had a long day at work and didn’t realize 😂😂😂

    Fluke should give you a new meter for doing such a good job advertising it! 😁 The video certainly peaked my curiosity about the meter! 😁 Thanks for the demo!

    Love Fluke gear. Have done design work for them. Good chaps.
    I'm not a fan of big croc (alligator) clips. And being a Brit, I'd like to see a finger guard. But at least they're slim.
    For a clampmeter, the 378 is a big boi! But I'm glad Fluke are still doing clear, solid and safe stuff.

    Biggest tip I can give anyone using any meter, is to get silicone leads. One of the best accessories ever. No stiffness or tangling. Also the magnetic strap...come on best things to come along since well I don't know what, but its also a must have!

    This is the only 378 review ive seen that describes how the phase rotation test works with only two leads. Thank you!!
    I JUST got the 376fc and if i knew about the 378 I would’ve got that - saves me carrying a rotation meter!

    Love the video,, question about the fluke TL 175 any issues of high internal resistance of the test leads? Mine is showing 1.1 ohm not good for me since most of the time I'm testing resistors.

    • @dhena8112

      Change the leads they should not ever be reading more than .1 ohms sometimes maybe up to .2 if you’re not getting a good connection.

    Fieldpiece 😎 Flukes are top of the line but I like to stick to my HVAC/R roots. SC440. Good reliable meter that won’t break the bank if it goes tumbling down a ladder hatch or off a roof. Like some of my tools have in the past.

    Are you still using the 378? I just bought one and the AC voltage with the test leads is spot on; my receptacle reads 120v, but when I use the DC voltage test mode, a 9V battery reads at 10 volts, when two different Klein meters read it at 9 volts. Then I tested a 1.5 volt battery and it read at 1.9 volts. I’m sure it is going to be a great meter but would you agree that for the price, it should be as accurate, if not more accurate than a Klein meter in every function? Anyways, if you do randomly read this and have a battery laying around, lmk if you get accurate readings on disposable batteries!! Because maybe it’s just my unit, who knows.
    Peaceeeeeee

    hello, just a quick question, what happens to 377 or 378 If i use the FieldSense Clamp to measure Voltage of a wire without a ground lead connection ? will a voltage and current number still show up on the screen with some inaccuracy? or nothing will even be display, nothing wil work without the ground lead connection ?,,,, thankyou

    • @mikerules1234
      @mikerules1234 3 місяці тому

      It will likely not pop up at all or will tend to have an inaccurate reading. What I do is if I can’t find a ground just hold the black probe in your fingers or clip the alligator clip to them

      @@Demo8pro765 no, it’s over the measurement’s maximum read, over it’s limit.

    • @SailingSnowGum
      @SailingSnowGum 10 місяців тому

      I'm another user who thought it was Over Limit, but from the Fluke 87 V manual I happen to have open, at page 12 there is 'OL - Overload condition is detected.' Over Limit and Overload have different meanings. I imagine Fluke have chosen to use the term Overload because it includes the notion that there is the possibility of the device being harmed from the way it's being used. This goes beyond the meaning of Over Limit, which simply advises that the device cannot resolve a measurement in the current configuration and application. Thanks for prompting me to look closer at this. 🙂

    • @vk2ig
      @vk2ig 8 місяців тому

      @@oal2928Typically most digital multimeters (Fluke and other makes) will display "OL" if the resistance exceeds the maximum the meter can measure on a given setting. For example, if I have an unknown resistor (with no markings or colour codes, etc), then I connect it to my multimeter set to 400Ω. If it reads OL then I switch it to 4kΩ, and if still OL then up to 40kΩ ... through 400kΩ, 4MΩ and finally 40MΩ if needed.

    I don’t like how the 378 fc field sense voltage sensor is so chaotic . The voltage readings jump +\- 20 volts which is insanely inaccurate. Not helpful for troubleshooting. And to make things worse you can use the clamp as just a clamp meter , you have to use the flex ring . And even worse the 378 doesn’t work on vfd outputs . But my 200 ideal clamp meter does
