I think what needs to be highlighted at every stage of the journey is that all the time and effort put in will eventually pay off as compounding knowledge. It’s just about staying consistent and completing courses and projects rather than jumping from one thing to another before you have something to show for the time spent.
Love it. Reflection and tracking are huge! What is tracked is what is improved. True in studying, the gym and life in general. Also great for if you get in a slump, you have a clear indication of how far you have come.
Keeping track of your time and having a deadline is sooo important! And I think this is one of the reasons why: Parkinson's Law is the idea that work expands to fill the time allotted for its completion. This may mean you take longer than necessary to complete a task or you procrastinate and complete the task right before the due date.
Hey, I struggle with imposter syndrome, but even if this field isn't the perfect fit for me, I still want to pursue it. I believe that the only thing holding me back is self-doubt. I wanted to mention this because I recently watched your videos about why one should consider becoming an ethical hacker.
One thing I've always appreciated about Heath's channel and the growth of his business is that he's always stuck to his goals of making cybersecurity easy to learn for beginners and affordable. I finally broke into the cybersecurity field, and I've taken the expensive SANS courses (twice now) that I couldn't even dream of affording on my own dime, and the tests were frustrating, had a handful of mistakes and weren't as engaging or enjoyable to work through the course material on compared to what TCM offers. While I can't speak to the PNPT test quite yet, I imagine the "do whatever you want to find the right answers" will be infinitely more enjoyable than the need for a 30+ page reference sheet and hands-on labs that are frustrating and don't always work right, like what I experienced with the SANS tests.
Great advices, so thank you, but the ad before the "eliminate distractions" topic was a really big distraction for me, I browsed the site for 10 minutes
Interesting video. I might need to give timeboxing a try, I've always been a little concerned that the small regular breaks would be too disruptive if it takes me time to get back into my stride. No harm in trying i guess
I had a huge passion and curiosity for this domain cybersecurity. I finished my bachelors with triple majors and pretty awesome marks. Then I joined for masters in the specific domain Cybersecurity but then things took a turn cause no good professors , very rude and mediocre people around plus WIFI and dorm is just pathetic (I wish i had some supportive friends around to hangout with or at least not eat alone every time )and all of this is just saturating me and killed my passion to study. Mahn i just want to study i dont want any other kind of luxury. But some of this youtube videos just keep that passion dwelling inside by giving it some life. Cyber mentor thanks for providing videos and supporting the ones who have the passion to study.
