No, Algodoo is a version for phun made for education that runs on the Classmate PC. So it will always cost money. But, there will soon be a new version of phun: phun beta 5. And that will be very similar to Algodoo and probably have most of its features.
I cant wait for the next version of phun, I hope it has the new features that Algodoo has! And thanks for making Phun free to the general public and maintaining the Phun web site and the Phun box! Wild Bill
Phun (err.. Algodoo) appears to be taking a huge step forward. I am really excited about the light ray simulation, how cool is that. BTW... Notice a the top of thew program it says Algodoo beta 4.94 and beta 4.97. It IS Phun (I hope).
I totally agree, but we made the video for the BETT show and for that it didn't need audio. We first had the video on our website, but it generated 130Gb of downloads in no time, so we simply had to move it to UA-cam, even though it really lacks the music! More videos to come... With music!
Double Comment. I was thinking, programs like this may be an integral part of educational curriculums in the future. It is so much easier to demonstrate a concept with a program like this than it is to try an explain it through words and drawing boards. I believe Algoryx may have made a very good investment in aquiring Emil and Phun.
And snap to grip, vector visualization, graph plotting, substantial optimization, GUI improvements, and some 50 other things... And yes, lasers too :-)
Well, we made Phun too and Algodoo is indeed based on the same code base. We are happy too see that our users defend Phun, but you don't need to defend Phun from ourselves :-)
There are things here and there that have been added. Along with lasers and grids, there's also plot graphs, force arrows, a camera (still needs to be finished), bug fixes, better acting water, scripting within the lasers, better texture tools, and others I may have not listed here.
wow at first i was like, hey that's just like phun. But then they amazed me with some outstanding features like closed circles with a space inside, bitmap importing AND interaction and the laser thing.
""The only thing I like about algodoo that phun probably won't have is the accelerometer capabilities... That looks pretty entertaining."" Who says that???? ^^
He didn't, this is kind've an expansion type thing developed by different people. Phun is still phun. Speaking of phun, Phun beta 5 is launched tomorrow! YAY!
@icecream400 The difference is one cost money and the other doesn't. They figured that they could sell this as an educational product to teach physics.
@Algoryx it was a great idea merging with phun algodoo for educational and home schooling classic phun for personal physics fun love em both with i could afford 29 euros
I have the old Dell Mini 9... i hope it runs like this. I used to love fun.... i may just have to buy a classmate pc. something about working on a tablet seems like phun ^_^
they didn't it works on all pcs like fun its an advert for the laptop really as the company that bought fun made that laptop the only thing you wont be able to do on usual PC's is the touch screen other than that it'll work for all comps like phun no worries
It's too bad none of you knew about the 83% off discount for people who register, it's too late now but people who have played Phun for a long time and had contributions such as cool scenes and other things, can still save money. You would have had to pay 5 euros or intstead of $41, you had to pay $7. If you complained even about that discount, either it's impossible to pay where you live or you are not commited to it.
15 years later... this is one of my childhood and very nostalgic:(

there's a new free version of phun. It's called Algodoo Phun Edition; It has most of the features that algodoo has!
You know what this really needs? Music. Like the way Phun has the Phun theme.
But that's just the video. I think the program looks great!
I cant wait for the next version of phun, I hope it has the new features that Algodoo has!
And thanks for making Phun free to the general public and maintaining the Phun web site and the Phun box!
Wild Bill
iwant this sooooooooooooooo bad
i have phun, and it doesnt do nearly as much as algodoo, or the 'new phun', does...
u rock algoryx/Emil Ernerfieldt
Ok, the prism thing rocks!
OH MY GOD!!!! THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS ALGODOO AND THE ACTUAL LOL

if this was released for free it would be pwnsome
And snap to grip, vector visualization, graph plotting, substantial optimization, GUI improvements, and some 50 other things...
And yes, lasers too :-)
This is my life!
Well, we made Phun too and Algodoo is indeed based on the same code base.

THAT'S cool!
I especially like the water :)
Are there any other elements, or can we add some?
Like the falling sand games :P
yo

Damn i would buy the new Classmate 3 (as soon as its released here) just to play with Algodoo xD
Looks like it supports enclosed shapes! You have no idea how much I want this, or just Phun Beta 5.
In this video it runs on windows, but the product will run on most platforms, e.g. Win, Linux, OS X.
>2009
Algodoo made for physics simulation for education and fun
>2012-Now
Algodoo made for Marble Raced and BFDI
Marble Raced, as in John Dubuc's Algobox account, or Marble Races in general?
In general, I think they mean.
Would love to see them come back and support this more!! I'd happily pay a low monthly fee to use!
Well, phun is like a demo of algadoo now, for instance in the phun menu it says buy algadoo, and it even has "algadoo" in the header.
Just as i thought Phun couldn't get more awesome!
Very interesting looking. So might I ask when features like cutting objects and even textures would be available in Phun?
""The only thing I like about algodoo that phun probably won't have is the accelerometer capabilities... That looks pretty entertaining.""
Who says that???? ^^
Is this gonna work on Windows XP desk computer? like normal vista and windows computers? And will there be version for it?
algodoo added in some fun things. + New, more user-friendly interface.
this program is similer to phun..but is it better? i need to know so i can see witch one to download>>
I was thinking the same thing. Especially at the end with the "Dark Side Prism" scene (awesome name).
When is the demo aviable?
is there any chance this will be formated or ported to be compatible with pc's?
What computer is that? I only know of the Lenovo S10 3t but it doen't have a handle.. Cool!
How do I get the accelerometer to work with a thinkpad?
yeah but when is it released to the windows computers?
whats the difference between this, and phun?
what is the difference between algoddo and phun?
When will it come out? Its 4th May already, they said it was going to come out on april...
This is so cool. Is there anything you cant do in Algodoo? ;-)
i think you can do what you want lmao
i downloaded phun 5 but didnt see the light reflector thing. is it on there too?
Yes. How do you make the laser pleas!!!!!!!!!
OMG. I just can't believe I haven't seen this vid before. Awesome!
how do i make a laser in phun algodoo edition?
like the stuff at 4:18 cuz i want to make a laser and experiment with lasers on phun
@MrVladdavid Phun is an older version of this game. They re-named it to Algodoo.
can it take more water then phun without lagging
He didn't, this is kind've an expansion type thing developed by different people. Phun is still phun. Speaking of phun, Phun beta 5 is launched tomorrow! YAY!
when will this be available to the public? will it be freeware, or shareware? because phun is getting a little old.
Could you describe the computer in 2:14 u use? Thx.
can this be used with windows 7 on a game desined computer? (sorry for bad spelling)
is there any software like this, but on a 3D environment?
The liquid here is so smooth
Why did they make it for only one type of pc?
How do you make the laser pointer at 4:22 ???
how do you get phun 5?
there is no 4.94 it was a video from the developers
the actual version is 5.28 for phun and 1.60 for algodoo
@icecream400 Mainly the interface and the features.
@icecream400 The difference is one cost money and the other doesn't. They figured that they could sell this as an educational product to teach physics.
I live in the city next to the one where they made this. Had that university as my second choice (though I got in on my first).
Where's the recorder now :P?
@icecream400
Phun is the beta of algodoo
oh, and will it be available for PC instead of a "classmate pc" ?
It's out of beta, meaning new features such as lasers, grids, plots, and more.
@Algoryx it was a great idea merging with phun
algodoo for educational and home schooling
classic phun for personal physics fun
love em both with i could afford 29 euros
its now 2 days till september and its still not released
Algodoo is for Windows, iOS, macOS, how about Linux and Android?
Why Phun has no light? =((
how do you get the program?!
algodoo + the powder toy = FUCKING AWESOME
It looks also unuseful, but really fun
Emil.. Why'd you rename Phun?
Please add these features to Phun!
Can algodoo take more water than phun without lagging like crap?
Same here.. but it seems i can't find it anywhere :(
how he make this laser?
tak to cumym skoda ze to je starsi verze
the lazer things are just crazy
Hmm... I see your point. But it looks exactly like phun, just with a diferent name. Thats where I the idea came from.
I want to play around with the light refractor and reflector =(
its great wonderful. Can i learn more about the same?
I have the old Dell Mini 9... i hope it runs like this. I used to love fun.... i may just have to buy a classmate pc. something about working on a tablet seems like phun ^_^

5:36 Algodoo By Algoryx
@Algoryx which you nearly never need =p i mean when do i need to plot a speed which does not align to reality? its 2D! =p
if we make the same rocket algoryx did and we replace the water to orange/red/or cyan water it will be better!
not much, only lasers,Grid View and some other things just download the demo;)
@icecream400
Phun evlolved into this, this one has LAAAAAASERS
Actually it's an updated version of Phun
PLEASE HELP ME

It is for pc :P
The intel classmate pc is just a normal pc like every other.
i would even buy it if it was 50-60, its totally worth it
why so expensive?
At 5:35 I was like "AL GORE?"
I had owned this for two years!
Owned what for 2 years
Are you talking about algodoo
Oh Ok
Yes it is Phun Algodoo edition
so this is where it all started
Why does this look like Phun?
because algodoo made a phun edition of algodoo and got permission from phun
It's too bad none of you knew about the 83% off discount for people who register, it's too late now but people who have played Phun for a long time and had contributions such as cool scenes and other things, can still save money.

My PC is good enough but still when i use water it goes slow and laggy
