I hate to have to contradict her, but in this case Esther is incorrect. But that does not contradict the fact that Louise and James ARE actually HRH Princess and Prince through King George V's 1917 Letters Patent. With their parents' elevation to Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, their last name has changed from Wessex to Edinburgh just as George, Charlotte and Louis have had their last name change from Cambridge to Wales. Louise's and James' official and legal names, which they certainly should and will use if they decide to take on some of the monarchy's workload and perform official engagements, are Princess Louise of Edinburgh and Prince James of Edinburgh. I do feel strongly that so-called 'royal experts' should make sure they know their facts correctly before going on air and giving people a completely false impression about an issue. And/or simply admit when they are stating their opinion, as opposed to actual facts. Esther talked a lot of rubbish about Lady Louise's title situation, which a quick Google search before she went on air would have shown her, and which has been expertly corrected by many of the other comments here, so I won't elaborate further. But it tends to completely undermine one's faith in anything else she is supposedly 'in the know' about. She's a nice woman, but that was very lazy journalism.
This is completely incorrect! Lady Louise is in fact by law a Princess! She has just never used the style of HRH or the title Princess preceding her name. She will die a Princess too, as she will always be a grandchild of a sovereign through the male line.
Legally Lady Louise if "HRH Princess Louise of Edinburgh" but she is styled as the child of a duke. Bluntly I think it would be a good thing for someone like Louise to take on royal duties as she appears to be much like her parents.
Lady Louise is a princess as much as William is a prince. They share the same grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, and they are both the great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren of Queen Victoria. Titles mean nothing. Bloodline is everything. I truly dislike Britain's snobbish class system - so fragile, so artificial, so insincere, so base (in the old school sense), so hypercritical.. . Meaningless. Louise is a princess whether the establishment likes it or not.
Louise is a princess because she was born a princess by virtue of her father having been the sovereign's son. What have the likes or dislikes of "the establishment" to do with anything?
Both lovely ladies, and a great interview. Andrew's daughters are princesses because their father, typically, pestered his mother to give them the titles. Anne's and Edward's children don't have them because their parents chose not to go that route, and their children did not take issue with that as adults. Many people think that royal rules are sacrosant, but in fact many of them can be stretched by the powers that be if so wanted, either by discretion or by tweaking rules and conventions. Remember, Edward 8th was deposed because he was a Nazi symapthiser, not because of his choice of life partner.
Eugenie and Beatrice are entitled to the title of princess by virtue of the 1917 Letters Patent, which was signed into law by the late Queen Elizabeth's grandfather, as are Louise and James (rather prince, in the latter case). All male-line grandchildren of the monarch are entitled to do so. Edward and Sophie requested that these titles not be used formally for their children until such time as they are adults and choose to do so for themselves. Lady Louise has so far decided not. The only thing that Andrew did in regards to his children's titles is nothing.
Esther is incorrect. She could become a princess on her 18th birthday, but she decided to stay a lady. Before she was 18, her parents chose for her to not be a princess.

What she said about The Duke of Edinburgh is pure bs. I’m sorry, but to be paid to give information, just for it to be total garbage is outrageous. It might seem like a silly issue. But people need to be able to trust someone who is supposedly speaking as an authority. Prince Edward was a prince from birth. He was a royal highness from birth. He was absolutely been able to pass it to his children. In fact that was what was always done. But it was decided with his parents and future wife to style his children as those of an Earl because they were so far from inheriting the throne. To give them a more normal life. It’s common knowledge. I wouldn’t believe a word out of this woman’s mouth from now on.

He was HRH, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. Before that, he was HRH, Prince Edward. He was made Earl on his wedding day because he was to inherit his father's title upon his death. The matter of princely title for their children was the decision of the Edinburghs. They followed Princess Anne's example rather than Randy Andy's.

Confused about titles for lady Louise.Ed was born a prince so when he married why didnt Sophie become a princess and then their kids would be prince and/or princess. Also if the kids have the option to use the HR title, why then would it be inappropriate.Either they can use it or they cant. I would use it.
The title "princess" cannot be obtained by marriage (legally and officially, no matter how much the media likes to use it). I suspect this is part of the reason royal princes are often given the title of duke of somewhere upon their marriage, because the wife of a duke does automatically gain the title of duchess. (In Edward's case, he chose the title Earl of Wessex upon marriage rather than a dukedom for personal romantic reasons, giving Sophie the associated female title of Countess of Wessex; he has now been granted his late father's cherished Duke of Edinburgh title, making Sophie Duchess of Edinburgh.) Edward's children, as male-line grandchildren of a monarch, had the right to the titles prince and princess and the HRH style upon birth, per the 1917 Letters Patent, but knowing that they would likely never be anywhere close to the throne because his older two brothers each already had two children of their own and thus a title might actually impact them negatively without any tangible benefit, he and Sophie requested the titles not be used until such time as their children are adults and can decide for themselves. Legally, Louise has every right to be addressed as Her Royal Highness, Princess Louise of Edinburgh. But as she's not a working royal and instead seems intent on pursuing as normal a life as possible (and that title only introduces unneeded formality and singles her out on these pursuits), she has so far opted to continue being styled as the daughter of a duke, Lady Louise Windsor.
Umm...she can be a princess as a direct descendant og a ruling sovereign..HMTQ Elizabeth 2nd. The famy were given the option of using the title if she wanted.Sophie and Edward decided that the choice of title would be hers when she reached 18.
Peter, Zara and Louise (not James because he is not yet 18) are entitled to use the titles of Prince and Princesses if they choose to do so. They are grandchildren of the King (like Beatrice and Eugenie) and over 18. Their parents made the choice of not using the titles when their children were under age so that they would have more choices in the future if they did not want to be working royals. If they do become working royals, they would also be able to also use HRH which would give them access to the security that their uncle H craves so much. It might be that KC has to agree to this but I don't think that would be a problem, he is very fond of them all.
The thing is though that if you were given a title it's not just a title it's a job they don't necessarily want to sign the errors up for having to work in the royal family without having a choice or chance qt a "normal" life
Not necessarily. As the children of the son of a Monarch, both Louise and James have been titled since birth but have not yet decided to use them. Eugenie and Beatrice likewise are Princesses and HRHs (unlike Edward, Andrew was not humble enough to decline those assignments and leave it up to his kids) though they are not working Royals.

Prince William needs to stop talking about this. It's political and doesn't follow the science. King Charles and William need to stop with this preaching.
Charles' and William's speeches did kind of surprise me. I thought the Royals, and especially the monarch, were supposed to stay assiduously out of politics. Unless for some reason they don't realise that topic is political?
I love you, Esther, but Prince Edward was born HRH and remains HRH. By becoming Earl of Wessex upon his marriage, he did not lose his birthright title of Prince, any more than Prince Andrew, Prince William or Prince Harry did. Even the York sisters are still princesses with HRH styling, If you are going to report on these things, please do your homework.

As far as the UK, Edward was barred from returning except for his mother's funeral (Queen Mary) and maybe a few visits, but with express permission from King George VI. They did not want any confusion about who was king. I believe Queen Elizabeth II allowed him to return for George VI's funeral. She did go to France to see Edward when he was dying. Then his body was returned to Britain for burial, as was Wallis' after she died.
No, it's automatic by 1917 LP. Charles' and Edward's kids were likewise titled automatically even if Edward & Sophie chose to let their kids decide if they want to actually use the designations.

Neil Sean reported two nights in a row that Harry was invited to the king’s 75th but Meghan was NOT.
If that's the case then that should be shouted to the world because that's unacceptable.
This is completely incorrect! Lady Louise is in fact by law a Princess! She has just never used the style of HRH or the title Princess preceding her name. She will die a Princess too, as she will always be a grandchild of a sovereign through the male line.
I'm confused. Prince Edward has to be HRH, he is the son of a Queen.
You're not confused. The reporters are confused.
All kids of QEll's sons were automatically HRHs and P/Ps by 1917 LP, not bloodline per se.
Louise is a princess because she was born a princess by virtue of her father having been the sovereign's son. What have the likes or dislikes of "the establishment" to do with anything?
@@annamack5823 Precisely!
@@fibanocci314Prince Andrew was was always pushing his daughters forward.
Esther is incorrect. She could become a princess on her 18th birthday, but she decided to stay a lady. Before she was 18, her parents chose for her to not be a princess.
Harry and Meghan aren’t the only Royals, can you do a show without focusing on these two people
There bills are being paid by calling their names.
Yes…thank you for having Esther back…❤❤
isn't prince edward HRH since birth? his mom was the queen when he was born. he becoming an earl doesn't take the HRH away. if beatrice and eugenie are HRHes, so she is and her brother is HRH, too.
If Lady Louise "can't be a princess" then why can her cousins Beatrice and Eugene be princesses?
Yes, why are Archie and Lily Prince and Princess?
Esther is incorrect. Lady Louise is a Princess and HRH, just doesn't use the title or style.
@@blr4076The 1917 Letters Patent automatically titled them such once their Grandfather became Monarch. It Archie & Lili's kids won't get the same as Harry will never be King. Btw, Lady Louise has so been titled since birth under the same LP but her parents, unlike H&M, stood by their decision to let their kids decide for themselves if they want to use the titles or not.
Esther is wrong
@@honestea1828 Correct! Upon birth both Louise and James attained the style of HRH and the title of Princess/Prince, owing to them being born grandchildren of the Monarch through the male line.
Lady Louise is entitled to be a princess by birth but her paremts let her live normal life with lower title lady and left the decision on her if she wants to use princess's title.
Pity as she really had real love and connection to her grandparents.
Louise can do anything she damn well pleases!
EXACTLY MATE!
Yes, except that he got the earldom, because his parents expected the treacherous Charles to make him Duke of Edinburgh (not just a life peer).
Edward is an HRH.
I wouldn't invite h or m to my bday, so I really can't blame rf for not wanting them around, caused nothing but pain and chaos. H and m owe rf and brits huge open apologizes.
The King has the authority to appoint her duchess of somewhere and create her HRH. He could therefore recognize her very real fortune tions to the royal family and replace the help he's not getting from harry and megan

I'm quite disappointed in Esther. I find her wonderful incredibly poised beautiful but how much effort does it take to look up who is a princess and who is not and for her to say that Lady Louise can't be a princess which is complete nonsense it's disappointing.
Or Prince Edward is not HRH.
@@PS_testing321... Yeah she must have taken medication or something I don't get it.

Ok.”let’s agree that traveling by air is time effective and comfortable. A commercial flight would have necessitated an overnight stay. The private jet vs commercial jet. A self-professed eco warrior Prince and a celebrity want to be wife. No wonder the guy looks depressed. He cannot pursue his dreams of taking a commercial flight.
I can't see Harry & Meghan I'm close proximity for any length of time Then again, road tripping might be a Netflix pitch for them.
A long video that mentions Lady Louise, but certainly doesn't meet its headline.
What has happened to Esther's "reporting?" She has really gone downhill in the last six months in reporting things that aren't true. 🤷♀️
msjannd4: She is a big hypocrite and blows with the wind.
King Charles is vain, and is concerned about his image. He doesn’t want to appear as having alienated his own son. This makes him easy for someone like Meghan to manipulate.
Van and weak and dishonourable.
Excellent reporting, Esther. Thank you so much for your knowledge and expertise, lovely lady!😊
Funny. She totally screwed up the whole thing about Louise. The woman clearly doesn't know what she's talking about.
@@SR-iy4gg- Can't stand the fact she always have to go with the popular narrative, just for a so-called career.
This woman doesn't have the first clue of what's she's talking about in regards to Edward and Louise. Edward was BORN an HRH. He was born an HRH and a prince. His daughter was born a male line grandchild of the sovereign, therefore, she IS entitled to the HRH and princess titles. Whether she uses them or not is a different matter.
She's such a classy pretty young lady who's very quiet and very well behaved, I can see why she was Prince Phillips favorite, she has a great life now why would she want to get involved with that dysfunctional lot, her father Edward and her mother Sophie along with Princess Ann are the best out of the children of Phillip and Elizabeth ( Edward and Ann) I'd hate to see her get exposed to that vial british press, stay away the most you can Lady Louise and enjoy your tending your horses and all the other animals and maintain your happiness 😊
Well I agree that she should be able to do whatever she wants this isn't a dysfunctional family. We all have issues with our families and more of the royal family are good than not. But for you to tell her to play with her horses do you know that what she's doing at St Andrews University right now? It's almost like you're demeaning her into a simpleton which she is not.
That and carriage driving gave her a leg up with Philip.
@@honestea1828 What does that have to do with anything? This person is basically telling her to go play with her pets. You really do say some of the most ignorant comments on all these channels.. you know that right? I'm certainly not the first that's told you that.
@@aerialpyropewpew Oh Winds, I simply added to the original comment (claiming Louise was Philip's favorite Grandchild) that Louise is the only grandchild that shared the common bond of carriage riding with Philip. I think she is a capable asset and should chose her own destiny whether that be as a working Royal or not. Beyond that, you must be mistaking me for another poster as that and most all my comments (save specified opinions) are factual, not ignorant, nor have many others charged otherwise.
Thank you for clarifying your comment because now it makes a lot more sense than the few words you used before @@honestea1828
Harry doesn’t seem to realise, he only has one Father, same with MM and her Father!
That’s how mm gets all her private Jets to go everywhere IMO 😅😅

God bless the King, and may God bless Prince William & Princess Kate! I am so thankful for them, Harry needs to get his shit together.
Harrys case looks petty to me.
Unfortunately , Esther Krakue is completely wrong .
I expected a Commonwealth country's major news network would, a detailed news presentation, get the facts right! i am an American and even I know that this is INORRECT!

Prince Edward has always been a Royal Highness. Lady Louise has a choice about using the Princess title.

Esther is so beautiful.
I disagree, I think Lady Louise will become a working royal, she is popular within the RF and would be a welcome addition to the newer generation. Fortunately she has a choice but I think she will be asked.
Harry and Meghan are living the celebrity life.

One of life's burning questions has just been answered.
Isn't it time to just stop talking about Harry&Meagan. Can we just leave them alone...the more they're spoken of the more they remain relevant. Plus it's tiring to hear...Harry did this...Meagan did that. Please stop. Also there was a time not long ago the media was complaining about Kate's reluctance to do her duties as a working royal, due to family commitments, and now all of a sudden she's the hardest working???
All done for 🤑🤑🤑
I don't like this presenter. She has no interview skills and she interrupts her guests way too often.
That’s how stupid they all are.
They pretend doing something but they are confused about their role.
KC didn't have a grand birthday party with celebrities so it wouldn't have been worth H's time to attend. Unless they can attend a posh do where they can arrive in a cavalcade of security cars, it's not worth their time or private jet. M isn't going to attend a party with ordinary people these days.
Will someone across the Pond or In Australia tell me if the Duke and Duchess of Windsor (Edward and Wallis) were invited back to any receptions, parties official events after they were married?
You can't even try to make a comparison there.. one was a king who was supposedly picked by a higher power (of birth order we all know besides the point) who threw his birth order in the face of God if you like So no they were never invited back for anything but funerals and she wasn't invited at all.
Then his body was returned to Britain for burial, as was Wallis' after she died.
why fly commercial when you can zoom.
The York girls arè only princesses because their father went sooking to his mother 😊
No, it's automatic by 1917 LP. Charles' and Edward's kids were likewise titled automatically even if Edward & Sophie chose to let their kids decide if they want to actually use the designations.
Not true it's because they are the children of a son of the reigning monarch at the time of their birth
Come back when you speak a language anyone can decipher.
