You can't have any player dictating to a manager mid game about team selection / substitutions in any sport at any level - shows a lack of maturity by the player who should have been substituted herself on the spot for her actions by the manager.
She overstepped her mark, no question. Posting on social media is totally immature and unprofessional. It highlights mcCabes role as captain for me. Take responsibility for your performance in the team and get on with it. Have discussions behind closed doors as needed after a game. Social media posts should not be tolerated from any player, let alone your captain.
It isn't something that needed to be aired in public at all or asked about.Farrelly has ended up as collateral damage in all this which is grossly unfair. Katie asked for fresh legs - presumably anywhere on the pitch but primarily sub in people who can score rather than defend. That wasn't an unreasonable request but as Manager Vera is entitled to disregard or decide against the request. Towards the end of the Canada game presumably through frustration Katie stopped passing the ball and was going for solo attempts at goal. She is an great player and probably a good captain but also new to playing in a world cup. Her tweet was a bit petulant and media focus on this instead of the positives to be gleaned from the experience is disappointing all round.
It's ridiculous demanding the manager to take off players. No manager worth their salt would accept that. She had a relatively poor game herself anyway so she could easily have been the one making way

The team didn't perform end of, if you're not good enough to go through take it on the chin and stop acting like children.
If you have a player giving out about the manager get rid of that player it upsets all the other players on the team

A lot of people in here seem to think football teams are dictatorships, all the best and winning teams i played ball for had managers that had honest communication between the players and the manager, if your chasing a game and someones gasses out, its good for a player especially the capitan to call for fresh legs, the manager dosent have to act on it, but you need that channel of communication open to play your best football, and shes was right we were looking leggy, especially in midfield. Storm in a teacup and the worst part is the media salivating over it a pack of wolves.
I feel like the Vera and player relationships is starting to run its course. I think it is apparent that Vera will be let go and a new manager will soon be coming in....
Keep the coach who has done a great job with average players and get rid of McCabe

Fair play to our girls they can leave with their heads held high, shame they didn't get that deserved point from the first 2 games I think they could have pushed on and got a win from the Nigeria game to qualify had that been the case, will miss Kathleen's amazing coverage too but look forward to the Euros, this is only the beginning for this amazing group of girls #COYGIG 💚
A player saying they need fresh leg is 100% understandable and that feedback should come from players on the pitch. I really don’t think she said the player.
