When I was a kid one of my dads friend was in some Prog band and had an earlier version of these. It was such an Alien of a device, it sounded like nothing from this earth. I loved it.
Buchla synths are wild and super interesting. I’m more of a eurorack enthusiast so I don’t know to much about them, just that they’re weird and whacky in a good way. But they are incredibly ridiculously expensive.
Thank you so much, I just had a first decent setting with one and was able to make a lot more sense of it, plus, I was able to put it back to your default settings for the next user! This really got me going a lot quicker.
I will NEVER be able to afford this, but I can't stop watching it........ I got to take a synth class and used the department's cool instruments & now I can't get enough
i just have a lot of other equipment on my shopping list before this... What I mean is: I couldn't live with myself if i spent 4 grand on something that you can emulate with software.
PUNKSPANK My friend, perhaps you can emulate with software this synthesizer, but you can *never* duplicate this synthesizer. I mean, emulating this synthesizer with software is like emulating the experience of driving an M1A1 Abrams, or driving a race car, with software.
this tutorials are very instructive, even if you like me cant afford it, for using software or any other synths even effects you will find lot of relation in between and learn more on how works the sound design world
This is a GREAT demo, very well done, well structured and great explanations...Seems like a fun keyboard to play...I'm just not so excited by the sound of it though....

This is totally different as with the Moog 3C/M Modular, Minimoog, Moog Source, TB-303, Jupiter 8, SH-101, Korg MS-20/10/50, ARP Odyssey, 2500/2600, Sequential Prophet One/5 or the entire Oberheim range. I listen to these synths on a daily basis when I hear my all-time favorite records.
I feel like Buchla is more about 1960s-style avant garde exploration than kickass tunes. Apparently he was reluctant to even put a keyboard on, for fear it would constrain the imagination. You can get lost in these sounds. I find they catch my imagination differently from anything Moogish. Not better, just differently and refreshingly.
Furryz the Arturia emulation is fun and sounds great, as well as affordable... and then I borrowed a friends Buchla Music Easel hardware unit, and all I can say is “wow”. Something about tweaking the real knobs and almost 'feeling' the voltages pass through the unit; very inspiring to play and explore. Is it worth $4k when the Arturia emulation is a couple hundred? Yes it is... if you have that kind of extra money to spend. If not, the Arturia is a great alternative and will get you creating music with convincing Buchla sounds for a fraction of the cost.
It sounds good but doesn't have the same inputs and outputs as the hardware Easel. There are patches that can't be translated between the two. In that sense it is not an accurate depiction at all but it does capture that characteristic Buchla timbre pretty well.
an vst is never close as the real thing, at first you simply can´t play it with your hands and really feel you play an instrument, second the sound; if you test it in your home you eill ear and see it is very different than listening to recordings, i own a fender deluxe amp real thing and tested/played all the emulation including pricey UAD of that amp, there are miles aways of the real thing, same happens with the synths but appart the big sound which come from the real thing it is the playabillity where is the big difference and latency of courses

some people is payiing 12 K for a Jupiter 8, so it is question of taste, i personnally would exange a Jupiter 8 for this, which to me is a lot more arty instrument than the old Roland
Hello, cann anyone explain how to use a 225h & 226h Buchla module properly " in action" and any example of its capabilities? there´s no any information rather than those three raw pages of the "Allegedly Manual "; i think they should show a bit more how to use their products since its not an easy thing and its a bit more complex than most eurorack´s. ANy comment is highly appreciated. (^_^)v. BTW: unfortunately are Buchla h Series modules the ones that are not very well explained or described in action.

Compared to say a Gibson Les Paul guitar, or a Fender custom shop guitar the price for the Buchla is reasonable. As with the aforementioned guitars there are are less expensive alternatives. It's the same with all things. If the high price continues to irritate, I suggest going to a Leica camera stockist site and compare the price of their latest M model body with the fancy 50mm Summicron lens. You could buy two or three Music Easels for the price of one of those outfits!
WilyEPeyote that would explain why most of the performances on UA-cam sound a little out of tune. And the 4 switchable scaling options of the keyboard make it even more difficult to play in tune, don't they?
A five step sequencer....gotta love Buchla.
Instead of thinking of it as a limited sequencer I look at it as a versatile modulation source.

Mine just arrived and already I'm starting to think the oscillators simply don't track properly.
