this is soooo cool!! but what worries me is the postage stamps. how do you go about changing them so many times without ruining the paper or having a big build up of them? I need to do this as I've just caught up with my long lost friend of 20 years ago
skylar hand hmm my friend doesn't do Journaling or scrapping so I might have to send a couple of pre-made ones so she can get the jist of it. thank you so much for sharing!
So cool, an envelope that is self closing!!! Thickness can cause your item to need additional postage. It can't exceed 1/4" thick. Also, if there is variation in the thickness, I.e. highs and lows, even if the highs don't make it too thick it will cost more to mail. As well if it is rigid, that costs more to mail too. I purposefully make mine rigid and put it in an envelope that is a little larger than a standard sized envelope b/c that makes it a package. All first class packages get free tracking. The rule of thumb is this: anything that prevents your item from being machine handled, will increase the cost of first class postage here in the U.S. Generally the incensed cost is minimal; about 22 cents for an item that is one ounce or less. If it is over one ounce you will pay the base price for the first ounce, 22cents for not being machinable, and the amount for the overage. I've never had to pay much more than a dollar so it's worth it. I always take mine inside and have a postal clerk tell me what first class postage it. That way I know the receiver won't have any postage due. And that's the only way to get the tracking number; it prints out on your receipt.
I just found someone to try this with! I'm pretty excited. And it will be a great way to put to use some of the papers from my paper pads that I wouldn't normally use. 👌
Niki Reynolds - usually. If you have a scale at home you can do the math. But I think going once a month or every other month to have send one out isn't too bad.
I do have some scales but I'm not sure how to use them outside the US. I know one time I sold something on ebay and it was outside the USA and I had to go and fill out a bunch of slips and papers and stuff and I never sold outside the US again.
Love this idea. Am going to try it as a "pass around" in our scrapbooking group"..
I like it. TFS.
Brilliant!

I used to swap a book similar to that with my cousin when I was a young teenager. It was a lot of fun.
this came out really nice. Do you worry about it getting wet/damaged?
makeupunlimited - not really. I’ve never had any issues but if you did, you could certainly wrap it in plastic if you wanted. 😉
I just got into snail mailing and I can not wait to share! This was a sweet post to watch! Thumbs up!
Love this Skylar!!! Thanks for sharing!

Shirley Harris - you make a new envelope every time you mail it out. That's the beauty of it. It's custom every time. 😊
skylar hand hmm my friend doesn't do Journaling or scrapping so I might have to send a couple of pre-made ones so she can get the jist of it. thank you so much for sharing!

Do you have instruction anywhere about how you made the paper bag notebook that you showed in the first couple minutes of the video??
Jana Gangestad - I do not. But Doris Sander does - that's where I got the idea. ua-cam.com/video/N47uUO5-hNA/v-deo.html
Thank you so much!! I love the look of that notebook. :)

If you have a penpal in Canada or Outside the USA don't you have to take it to the post office?
Niki Reynolds - usually. If you have a scale at home you can do the math. But I think going once a month or every other month to have send one out isn't too bad.
I do have some scales but I'm not sure how to use them outside the US. I know one time I sold something on ebay and it was outside the USA and I had to go and fill out a bunch of slips and papers and stuff and I never sold outside the US again.
Niki Reynolds - anything in a box needs a customs form. But this is correspondence, so it's not required for it. 🙌🏻

Is this scrapbook paper, or do you use scrapbook cardstock???
It looks thicker in the video that's why I ask. Thanks! It's a wonderful idea!
It is scrapbook paper but not the thin kind you buy in singles at big box stores. its not a textured cardstock, but it is a thicker paper.
who gets to keep this in the end?😞
Luisa Rodriguez - whom ever gets the notebook back without any pages left to respond.
thank you so much! This is a wonderful idea☺
Patent!
