It's hard to overemphasize how important this stuff is. It's boring and annoying but your drive will absolutely be swamped with superfluous/redundant files if you don't plan it well. Especially when you're dropping enormous safetensors in the wrong folders, then losing them, then getting annoyed and duplicating them into any folder you think might get them working, etc. And when you need only three or four files from a git folder, but you have no idea which ones or where to put them, so of course you get them all and put them everywhere. I'm rewinding a bit myself after an insane few months of brute-forcing it. Everything works great, but I know my workflows are super inefficient. There are surprisingly few appropriately detailed walkthroughs around. If a tutorial doesn't tell you exactly what a file does and exactly where it goes and why, it's not very helpful if it doesn't work on the first go. Pay attention guys. Thanks for this series. It's hitting all the spots that I really didn't understand at all when I started.
Thanks a lot for this video and all the other ones, I felt completely lost about stable diffusion !! Can't wait for the next one, when will it come out ? :))

How do you manage the fact that some of the downloaded filenames have absolutely no bearing on the names of, for instance, the Lora name? An example is the Lora 'Pony Add more details' which has the filename 'checkpoint-e18_s342.safetensors' - quite a misleading filename and nothing connecting it to the Lora name. Secondly, some filenames clash - I have seen 2 different Loras where the only difference is the case of some characters - and we all know that windoze can't distinguish between upper and lower case when it comes to handling files - Linux users are spared this inadequacy, however. I know you don't have control over what users end up calling their files but I'd suggest, for starters, to at least have the filename visible on the Lora etc. description page.
I'm a tad confused. So, you only need to put the files in the Auto1111 folder if you intend to only use Auto1111. I can guess, if you have no intention of using Auto1111, you only need to put the files in the other EasyDiffusion folder. Or do you need to put 2 sets of the files in Auto1111 and the Easy Diffusion models folder. (Edit) Managed to sort it out, thanks for taking the time to record the videos and go into detail on how to get everything setup, it is appreciated.
Glad you figured it out! I had my response ready for yah! Sorry, we wanted to cover two different programs for beginners in a single video and let everyone make their choice as to which to use :)
@@civitai Yes, that was where the confusion was on my part, I assumed Auto1111 was part of Easy Diffusion which got me thinking on why would I need to have 2 copies of the models to run Easy Diffusion, so thanks for clearing that up. I have been on the Civitai using the models on the website and was always confused as to why would I want to download the models when everything is already on the website to use, now everything makes sense. So again, thank you for compiling the videos and the work involved to do the tutorials. It is appreciated 👍

Hey! Sorry about that, you have to install the ControlNet extension first via the Extension tab. This is outlined in video #4. Check there and then the folder will be created :)
This series has been awesome, so much stuff I missed in setting things up.
I just watched your other videos about this subject. Thank you for walking thru everything. Can't wait for the next one!
