  • With the introduction of the Middletown and New Jersey railroad to the Toys for Tots trains the Morristown and Erie now runs the weekend after the NYS&W/M&NJ run. We had originally planned on chasing this train for fun, with no intentions of uploading our film, but this train was surprisingly just as unique as last weeks. This year the M&E TFT train would sport two Norfolk Southern locomotives and two cabooses along with the standard Toys for Tots boxcar and the NYC coach as seen on the previous weekends train.
Our chase will document the entire run of this train on both the High Bridge line, and Dover & Rockaway branch. We used a slew of new shots for this chase to keep things interesting, with the highlights being the West Dewey Ave Bridge overlooking NJT's mainline and the bridge crossing the Rockaway River along the Dover and Rockaway branch.
Overall the train was very successful this year as it collected 10,765 toys between all three railroads. Once again I'd like to thank everyone who donated, the railroads who took part in this, the Marines and all of those who make this train work for the kids. And on that note, I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Thanks! Those are two of my favorites as well, it was super cool of the crew to take the train over the Rockaway river.I appreciate the positive comments on the video!

Thanks Jack! It was a nice treat to hear both Leslie and Nathan horns from NS on this train! In regards to that last shot, I can't thank the crew enough for pulling onto the bridge to allow myself and a few other rail enthusiasts to snap some shots of the train there, it was the perfect way to end the day! I hope you and your son have a great Holiday season too, I look forward to seeing what you guys get up North in the coming months!

Thanks Kyle! I'm glad you and your dad were able to make it out to shoot the train there. As far as I know this was the first year they pulled the train across the bridge for photos, so we were pretty lucky to see that!

Awesome! The first shot and the last one are my favorites. Going at a decent speed along a road and going over a stream with its reflection really made those shots great! Fantastic job!

As a friend said to me, "It wouldn't be the toys for tots train if somebody didn't park too close to the tracks in dover." Thanks for checking out the video!

Nice perspective on the opening shot. Boomin' audio with the airhorns, great reflection with the last segment!

No problem man! Well the High Bridge Branch use to see regular freights, there is a Toys R Us distribution center at the end of the line (just past the bridge in Mount Olive) that use to receive 10 car loads every day if my memory serves me correct. At the present time no other trains run on the High Bridge Branch besides the TFT train.

Thanks man, the 3010's RS3L sounds killer when running LHF. I understand that youtube has to change things up every once in a while to keep things fresh, but this new update is awful. I hope they revert back to the old one or change from this because it's too confusing haha.

The train had to stop at most crossings due to the absence of gates/bells/lights to warn the oncomming traffic of the approaching train. So the conductor has to get off the train and stop traffic allowing the train to cross the road safely.

Maybe next year they'll have Tony's Towing station a truck and driver in Dover between Essex Street and Bergen Street unless the town has that lot repaved and adds someway to keep cars from parking too close to the tracks. It seems they're learning as they go each year, backup engine this year. Tow truck in Dover next year.

Thanks Rich! I absolutely agree with you, the addition of the 5664 was VERY cool. I was thinking about this earlier today, what were the chances that an extra NS engine would be in Dover and assigned to the TFT with 3010. It seems really odd to me that anything other than 3010 would be in dover, I'd love to know why 5664 was in Dover in the first place, let alone assigned to the train.

That depends which branch you're talking about. The High Bridge Branch seen in this video from 2:15-8:00 sees one train a year, the TFT train. The Dover & Rockaway/Chester branches usually see 1-2 trains per week depending on the amount of cars they have to pick up/drop off. What spot(s) in particular have you seen the train at?

Why did they have to keep stopping?
