Big model trains running inside my small house

- This is a collection of G-scale model railroad trains from LGB and Piko. It starts with a LGB 25554 White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad diesel locomotive pulling freight cars. Next, there's a LGB 21576 Santa Fe diesel locomotive pulling passenger cars. Finally, a Piko 38212 AT&SF steam locomotive provides some pretty cool steam train sounds! I don't know what the deal is with the headlight on that locomotive... it seems to randomly go on and off.
The operation of multiple trains on the same layout is made easy due to DCC - digital command control - which allows you to control each train individually. This includes changing speed and operating the horn and bell of each train. It's a fun hobby!
These model train videos are extremely expensive to make. What you see in this video cost in excess of $5000 and I'm sure my entire collection cost in excess of $15,000. Each one of the locomotives cost approximately $1000, each rail car about $200, and each foot of track about $7. If you enjoyed this video, please consider becoming a patron of this channel to help fund the addition of even more model train equipment for future videos. Even a commitment of just $1 per month will help, if enough viewers participate. For more information on becoming a patron, go to / jimzim
What you see in this video was the way my train collection was in early 2015. But these days I have a LOT more trains! See them all in a much newer video of mine at • Every One Of My Model ...
Is my train collection too large for my house? Nevermind, I already know the answer. The obvious next step will be to move the whole thing outdoors.

Anyone in 2024 rewatching this absolute banger of a nostalgia video from their childhood.
❤🎉😮me and I was non stop watching this when I was small. 😊
Bro this was my child hood
Mano eu tava assistindo ontem
Nostalgia I loved to watch this back in the day ❤
As a child, i can confirm this is my dream XD
Beautiful!! Kudos to your family who put up with your toys! As a child in 1950, my family had Lionel steam locomotive that belched smoke when a special white tablet was inserted in the stack. My dad only set it up on special occassions. What a treat!
Dang bro,you make me to the childhood memories :')
love your track builds
Bravo congratulations like a small railway museum
I used to watch this when i was little, good times.
That sound though! ... it sucks being a kid in the 80s... I’m going to do the stuff now with the little one 🤣🤣
I remember watching this and loving it
love your trains
i watched this video when i was 4 and im back now at age 11 i loved this video
I just cannot undrstand the (so many) dislikes in this video. Generally, if someone doesn't like train models ,can simply avoid watching. It is absolutely meaningless to watch this video and then.... dislike it.
About this video in particular....the man has a small place.....still has done a beautiful work!!!
I´m 54 years old and when I was a kid, I never had a Lionel miniature electric train; but I had a Trian-g (I´m not sure if I wrote correctly the trademark) one. It was very elaborated too. What a nostalgic moment for me! Thanks for share this video. Greetings from Venezuela.
To see an even more elaborate LGB train layout I set up inside my house, take a look at ua-cam.com/video/MMVZxWKB-Ls/v-deo.html
+Jim Zimmerlin Where did you get the White Pass & Yukon RR Diesel??
+Matthew Pugh
It was probably from Trainworld.com They have pretty decent pricing on stuff like that, and if you wait until the next federal holiday, they usually offer a special holiday discount. Labor day, memorial day, 4th of July, etc.
you need to put some lil toy cars, ppl and cows on those tracks to make it more realistic. lol
Jim Zimmerlin holy moly dude! your thread had more BS chinese/asian spam than ive ever seen on one persons thread. somehow you are like a magnet for that crap. im about ready to mute this thread.
Jim Zimmerlin could you please do a review of the white pass and Yukon route diesel because it was the railroad that made my interest in trains become a obsession when I was three years old and I recently went to ride the white pass and Yukon route
Nothing wrong with this ! (Did it also, many years ago ! ) LOL...gotta love, 1:02 when it creeps around the corner..The pet bowl..Bet that really makes them eat fast !
Nice job.. enjoy !
Totally agree nothing wrong with it. I just wish i had the space to do the same.
When the train go around the house it's amazing
you have made my childhood
thank you jim zim
Really cool. Thanks for sharing.
This is awesome
Very cool!! One shot that I, and others, find mesmerizing, and you almost have it, is when two trains are running on tracks that are next to each other with slightly varying curves. This layout would work as it is if only the trains would be running side by side in the same direction or opposite directions. As the cars are doing their 'train thing' it's awesome to see them snaking around next to each other. You almost have it on your pinned video here--all you would need to get that effect is have the trains passing each other and/or running side by side but shoot it from above to catch the snaking effect :-) I had this going on with a beautiful and complex Marklin z gauge at a children's center and groups of adults and kids would often be standing in silence as the trains glided around doing this = just like heaven...
my grandpa used to have a whole room in his house where he had a whole huge model train set, where me and him would just go for hours, but he took it all down and packed it way a few years ago, and watching this video braought back so many great memories
What a great video, looks like our house when I was growing up! Trains everywhere:)!!!
Thanks for the memories:)
Superb! Thank you for sharing :)
I love it and the way they go all around the house gives a huge layout with a lot of different turns
We all know the best train is the Pere Marquette 1225, class "N-1" 2-8-4 "Berkshire" type steam locomotive built in October 1941 for the Pere Marquette Railway by Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio.
O.O yeaaa i can see an adult doing this without a kid, kids ruin the fun for some reason lol, looks awesome
This is a great teaching tool! Thank you!
I really liked the ATSF and the WP&Y trains they looked great
That is beyond cool - I want one!
I can’t stop watching your vids
Jim Jim I want such a train. I love trains too
From were you bought them?
I like these trains.
Trains are my favorite
How much did that coast, dude?
I think was somewhere around $10,000 for all the model train equipment involved in this video. I actually acquired even more in the years since. If you look though some of the other model train videos on my channel, you'll find some huge outdoor layouts involving even more cost than this one. It was all bought with the ad revenue from my UA-cam videos.
Amazing. Thanks for sharing brother.
Jim Zim, it’s my first time putting a comment below and I never do that before it’s my first time doing it but those trains were awesome
I LIKE IT AS LONG YOU DON" T TRIP OVER EVERYTHING DURING THE NIGHT ! ! ! !
There's just something so satisfying about watching toy trains run

I wish I could do the same, but found trains don't run on carpet.Loved your video."Here they come through "Dogdsh Pass"
I love you Jim, you bring out the kid in me.
AWESOME!!!
Great video, and great trains! Marvelous how the carpet manages to deaden the extrinsic sound.
Very nice. I've had HO scale, but I like the larger scale trains as well.
That was the best train video🤩🤩
Wonderful
Do you own any Hornby trains and/or tracks?
No, I don't own any Hornby trains. That's a UK brand, and I'm in the USA.
@@JimZim Oh sorry, didn't consider that bit Lol

Hey Jim, I really love your LGB layout and also your lokomotives and waggons. Im just really impressed that a LGB video could reach more than 30 million views, this is really really impressive. I wish you good luck for christmas (your presents) and just stay how you are. LG Philipp (LGB SCHMALSPURBAHNER)
Form the swabian alb in the south of germany

When the weather outside is frightful;..then bring the train inside...!
The Santa Fe sounds like a UFO sound based
So cool choo choo 🚂
Wow awesome set-up if you leave alone hehe...well if you have people around or even kids they might step on the trains and act as big giants ready to destroy your trains LOL!
Man! We found your page while getting our small kids excited about their first Liberty of the Seas but then when we found your train videos...wow! My son is in love and chooses these over Netflix shows! Thanks for making fun videos!

I like the ALCO. It reminds me of the old MLW RS 18s that BC Rail used to field back in the 1970s and 1980s.
É simplesmente fantástico, muito lindo, parabéns.
This is one of my chilhood videos I watched thank you.
wow, awesome! thanks for sharing the fun :)

That settles it! I’m getting my nephew a model train set for Christmas. But since he’s 3, it’ll have to be one that’s designed for little kids who tend to... ya know.... break stuff.
This Christmas this year, im hoping to get some G scale train too like yours
It looks like a lot of fun!!!
That's a very nice collection, it'll make an amazing garden railroad.
2:22 That Santa Fe train though 🚆
nice video Jim of your model train in your video.
You have to love LGB!-a carpet is all the ballast you need! The day after Thanksgiving every year my son and I go hiking: if it's raining we bring the trains up and do exactly what you are doing in this video.
That is sooooo cooool!!! You are lucky to have a wife that will let you do this.
Nice collection and cool video...
Thanks, Moses...
this is wonderful !!!!
thanks for making these! my five year old is obsessed!
He's not the only one! Check out ua-cam.com/video/sR7Wxpgiq_g/v-deo.html for a cute video from another five-year-old obsessed with model train videos!
Cool! I love the second one that’s called the Santa Fe. I hope Morgan has it.
I love your trains Jim zim I love ❤️ you all
Awesome Video
Very nice! I love trains
Thank you for this video! My almost 2 year old daughter loves watching this multiple times a day. She asks to see the 'Choo Choo' and gets upset if I make her turn it off. Her favorite train is the Steam Engine. Maybe consider making another video of your model trains featuring an appearance of your dog. She saw the crate and water bowl and kept looking for the 'woof woof'.
Oh, so you're responsible for about a million of the six million views! ha ha ha
The dog actually does make a special appearance at the very end of another one of my train videos: ua-cam.com/video/yoxy-g0X_YM/v-deo.html
WOW... AMAZING BUDDY...AMAZING
awesome! :)
