I’ve just stumbled across your channel while looking at ID Buzz campers. You’re hilarious and even though this had almost nothing about the Buzz I couldn’t stop watching. Great stuff. 😂
Upgrading to an ID Buzz would be uber cool if you can make the finances work. Guided tours of the areas you already know a lot about sounds like a great idea. Sign me up if a make it back to the Riviera.
Get the VW you won't regret it. Go for what makes you happy. Thank you for all the videos. We're in Villefranche now and love it. We have learned so much from you and what to see around. Great work. Thank you 🙏 We love Mr Boo and his understated charm and your captivating commentary.
It's amazing how much stuff you can squeeze into Elton, good job Mr Boo is young and agile and managed to squeeze in. The interesting part will be can you fit it all back in the bag when you take the tent down.
ID Buzz - i have seen a few here in Germany on the streets, and they have a similar smile factor as an Ami. When waiting at a traffic light, they get more attention and 👍👍 than any supercar... I guess the car you visited has the cutest color combination available 🤣 Next plan for you - take the car on the old Hippy trail to India... ua-cam.com/video/sG8JBWdQ2l8/v-deo.html
...oooooh, I'd love a VW Camper Van, old or new.. sadly can't afford or justify , so I'm with you all the way with the Tent for now 😅 . Heres to many more misadventures ❤❤ So entertaining, thank you so much gents x
The best wee bottles if you have a bladder problem when camping, or if you get stuck in a traffic jam and are bursting to go, are old fabric softener bottles. I have an old (aptly-named) Comfort bottle for exactly those purposes. 😂
I have an Ami and live in 06 too. I bought a shiny car window shade and stuck it to the glass roof of my ami with that double sided Velcro stuff. Works a treat.
Your quips about bygone days such as the Carry On Camping scene always makes me smile. You both deserve a medal for everything you manage to get into elton! Great video. I'd love a camper van and at the recent caravan amd camping expo in the UK there was a converted VW which was kitted out specifically for mountain bikes.
Hi Tim, great video & we think you’re close to a better, cheaper decision than the VW. The big problem with campervans is that you have to pack them up each time you want to leave the campsite unless you take other transport with you. But having bought the big tent you now have your holiday home so better to go for the electric Berlingo. It’ll give you the means to do your guided tours, the big tent and all your kit will easily fit and you can get out & about on your hols! Paul & Ali
Great video, and loved the ID Buzz idea. Not available here in Oz until 2025! As for cooling in your Ami, we use water in a simple spray bottle in our 2CV’s out in the desert, just squirt yourself occasionally and the draft from the front vent and open side windows does the rest! It does seem to work!
A beautiful, practical and sufficiently large tent! At this point it also suits both of you better than the Volkswagen. You can get everything in the “living room” - battery-operated air conditioning, television and a small refrigerator for the beer. I'm looking forward to Italy...
Amazing video! The iBuzz is too expensive. And would be too easy. We love the way you challenge the AMI. That is the DNA of the channel we love. I have the same Fresh n black 1 room tent and it is a marvel. Fresh in the heat, warm in the cold. Easy to set and fold. 100% waterproof. The mattresses you bought are comfy. Your camp challenge over you store it away till next time. With the 2 rooms, you will have lots of space. Stay in campings 5 days, then explore the area with the AMI the way you explore the riviera. Then move to another area & so on. Looking forward for the next videos. Love you guys. Thank you for bringing joy with your channel 😊
Thanks so much for such a considered comment and I think in many ways you are right but we just can’t spend that amount of time away from Villefranche except in the winter when many/most camp sites are closed
Hey Gents! I just wanted to take a moment to say that my husband and I have been watching your videos for the past few months since we visited Nice and we just adore your channel. I really appreciate all the time you put into this production as I know it's a lot more than it appears on the surface. We started a little channel in December and, even as a professional editor, it takes a lot of time and energy. Basically, I just have a lot of respect for what you are both doing. Tim, I really admire how well you can speak about the fascinating history surrounding the areas you live in. That's a really unique skill and, to me, you are second to none. Richard, I can't tell you how big of a smile you bring to our faces with your reactions to what's going on around you. Kimball (my hubby) also appreciates how you help Tim navigate as that's his job for me as well LOL. Kimball and I wish you both the absolute best with your channel and are sending tons of positive vibes. Bring on 100,000 subscribers! If we're ever back in the South of France and we see you on the road, we'll be screaming at you LOL. Have a great one, fellas.
Lovely to hear from you. We’ve watched some of your Nice videos and appreciated the editing too. B roll etc is work! We’ve enjoyed your interiors stuff too, you seem to have a real passion for that x
@@MeandMonAmi Yay, thanks so much. Yes I started filming at the age of 12 on one of those GIANT RCA camcorders and used to edit by connecting RCA cables to my VCR. So enjoyable! My dream: an ID Buzz camper! I can't afford one, but wow! The colours were fantastic! (2 tone). I looked at a T4 California from 1995. But going to an ancient rattly diesel (and a health hazard).. No.. It will be for a later time. So very excited for you two! The tent is huge! I've also watched endless hours of the Olympic Games. I love that! Usually don't really watch sports, but the Olympics..... The French did great, so did the British and the Dutch.
I really love your taste and style always so chic. My faves would be the kislux leather backpack and the Swarovski pave diamond ring so gorg. Thank you for your recommendations.
I have heard basically mixed reviews on these cars in the UK. They are average but look good. I think you guys made a much better choice with a house sized tent. Loving your channel.
That's why pop tops are so good. You can adjust the heat by opening the pop top mesh, whilst up. Our van is black and it is never unbearably hot inside with the pop top up.
A modified ID Buzz would suit your long distance travel requirements. With the bigger tent, you’d want to get a foldable trailer to hitch up to Elton to give you storage space for camping. I’m not talking about a permanent trailer, its too big, cumbersome and expensive when you all want is occasional expanded capacity, right? You’d have to look into what’s suitable but with a towing hitch, you can attach it snd detach it, depending on a particular trip. Best wishes! 😊
I would see if you can rent a VW Buzz for a weekend before you commit to the financial outlay. Also the tent looks pretty spacious you could park the car in their as well.
At 45k I think you made the right decision if you have doubts. You’ll have bags more room in that new tent. Congratulations on getting all that in Elton! I bet that was one of the longest drives ever back to Villefranche lol.
Became very excited about the new ID! Can't wait to see everything all packed up on Elton for your Italian trip ... Enjoying it all, thank you Tim & Mr Boo! Decathlon should sponsor you!!
Mr. Boo’s facial expressions behind Tim are comedic gold. Besides the fact that he is an utter legend re: his patience under quite a few precarious seating arrangements in Elton. 💙🤍❤️
Just discovered your channel you guys are great and very entertaining, we have had our marco polo camper now for 3 years we always sleep in the pop top even in winter in Switzerland as it get too stuffy sleeping in the bottom good luck finding your dream camper it will change your life!
If your only reservation is having to sleep in bad weather with the back open, you could get a popup shade structure to pup over the back of the Buzz. Some have side you can close incase the wind starts blowing rain in.
Yup but my worry is that if you are adding a tent then we may as well have a cheaper vehicles with enough room to carry said tent (our problem is the ami isn’t really up to carrying stuff on the roof - though we continue to do it)
Mr. Boo sure can take some punishment!!!❤❤ Watching you guys go camping is great fun, love to see you be more comfortable though…if you are thinking about purchasing a “ camper” , a Nissan NV 2000 is what a couple use to have in Great Britain, you tube channel is “Life is too Short” with Carole and Ken…You could buy a large suv and pitch a tent on top the roof, a moving van could work, an old bus? I think you guys need to rent a van first to see how comfortable you will be and how to handle the toilet situation…love the channel…hope to see you in Italy soon…stay charged😊😊
Hi Guys. We were glad to see that the battery in Elton was protected from overheating. The system works even if you had to suffer the ignominy of Turtle Mode. This happened as we were wondering how the Ami battery is going. Are you noticing any loss of range? Also, when you load it up to and over the gunnels with camping gear, electronic gear, 2 persons and a weighty Twiggy, I would imagine you make it work hard - thus get a reduced range. Great to watch and very interesting videos - thank you both.
Oh how exciting , I'm sure you can buy an awning for the little buzz ...increase your space considerably. , when I was growing up my parents used to have a VW Camper Van ....my mother used to drive off regularly with the awning still attached 🤣🤣🤣 fond memories
Great video. A camper van or similar is a massive investment. The main downside for me is that if you want to go somewhere for the day which is impractical by foot or bike you have to pack up the vehicle. At 18 mins 36 sec of the video you mention Mr Boo getting up in the night for a wee. If it is regular thing Mr Boo should have a prostate check. I know from experience how important it is. Sincere apologies if you have considered all of my comments. Looking forward to your future adventures especially in Italy. Maurice from Malvern UK.
Hi guys, luv the vlogs! If the 2nd hand ID Buzz deal falls through, may I suggest a plan B? XEV YoYo quadricycle. Looks like a car, swappable battery system, disk brakes, ABS, steel frame, range of up to 150km and top speed of 90kph. Looks like a smart car. Just saying...
Chaps, we have a VW id.3 and it's been absolutely faultless. If you can try and drive a Buzz, I'm sure you'll love it. I've got a feeling that the Buzz seats give you great options to make a bed.
As deltafoxtrot2 commented below, you can get a tailgate tent (apparently, I have not confirmed) for the ID Buzz, so that using it with the tailgate up suddenly gets you a bigger campervan. Bed still has to be long enough for Mr Boo of course....:o) Great that you are thinking this way, it seems a good 'un, though rather expensive. Cheers, Dave
Citroen Berlingo could be option you could have a rear drive away awning that way you would keep the tailgate door open allowing mr Boo to dangle his feet out.
The only down side I see with this type of camping is that men of a certain age , like myself , having to get up through the night and trudge to the toilet block .😢. But you could get a little toilet tent and a portable pottie , than it’s happy days 🚌 all the best with your decision 😊
For 40.000 you can buy a small house in Italy. I also tried to replace my broken Vito with an Buzz or eVito but even 2nd hand its all over 40k. On the other hand, a second hand low mileage Tesla model 3 long range costs around 25k, big enough to carry 5 tents. It is a shame your Ami can't tow because towing a little 'remorque' would solve your energy and camping problems.
Hello. Weve enjoyed watching your channel for the last couple of years now and will continue to do so😊 First time we have sent a comment as we watch using our tv so commenting isnt possible. Anyway, using my phone as i couldn't resist. We think it would be a great idea to get a campervan (electric of course). We have an e-rifter which is the same as the Citroen e-berlingo but it is the long wheel base with seven seats and we have built in a rear kitchen. (We removed the 2 rear seats) Also got a great easy to put up tailgate awning etc etc. we are retired and now travel all over the UK. I could go on but im sure you get the idea. There must be plenty of used e-rifters or e- Berlingos over there. (Im sure Mr Boo will fit in the long wheelbase version). TTFN.
Lovely to hear from you. Our friends have an e berlingo and we are definitely thinking about it. Not sure it’s quite as good for guided tours (though it does have a rear window that opens and the Buzz doesn’t) Anyway for now back to the big tent!
Have a look at the Maxus eDeliver 5. Cheaper than the iDBuzz and can be a camper too. Its newer so not sure if there will be much on the second hand market but a new Maxus likely compares in price to a second hand Buzz and easier to finance a new vehicle.
I´m not a fan of huge cars at all, SUV and minivan alike, but that ID BUZZ really has a great appeal even to me, combining the charme of an old T1 or T2 campervan with a modern electric platform. Nevertheless, the spec issues you mentioned are real and VW hasn´t let go of the Multivan, so they will continue playing 1st and 2nd child with the two, picking and choosing what kind of amenities they also want to make available in the ID BUZZ.
A helpfull tip. If you buy a van and sleep in it, put a jack under it for the rocking. If you buy a camper van and store it for a long time, jack it up, wheels off the ground. And last tip, why not a rooftent? Sleep on the roof, inside of the van as storage, cooking and so on. Final question, could you give the link for the fans that you use in Elton? I know you talked about them in a video, but then i have to do a deep dive😂 Kind regards, and keep up the good work
@@MeandMonAmionly if you forget where they ladder is at night😂. But indeed, could be a problem. Both of you have great ideas for camping, and pretty soon i wil send you a camping care package 😊. Stay charged❤
Maybe what you really need now is just a better car, that will take all your new camping kit investment? Have a look at the older model Kia Soul EV ...comes with all the bells and whistles, proper aircon and you will still get decent enough range for what you do. Good for tall folk and seats 4. Models from 2017 can be found for well, well, under 10, 000€ so a much less scary loan. Plus they do one in black and red! Worth a look!
Interesting take on the ID Buzz. Depreciation and out of warranty maintenance are ownership cost factors as well. Having grown up in the Car, RV and aircraft business I was reminded of an old industry vulgarism "If it Floats, Flies or F_ _ _S just rent it!" And for short occasional use renting an RV might be worth of some consideration. I was looking at the FB Marketplace here and was surprised by all the DIY camper conversions, some for much less than you could buy and build them for. I also noticed a couple of Ford Transit Connect EV Vans for $5000 U.S. with about 50,000 miles on the clock but service might be an issue. Years ago I had a euro import VW Vanagon bed camper model with the club seating I loved but for camping a mini-van with the flat floor and seats removed is as good or better, and might there be some conventional EV minivans at good prices? I have an old Toyota MiniVan I use for a business tax right-off and if I need the seats I can pop in as many as I need in mins, I've used it for camping and on road trips (as motels across America are $200 to $500+ per night now) and I lived in it for over a week at the coast during covid when my area was evacuated due to riots and fires, and during an ice storm a couple of years ago when power was out for 2 weeks. it's quite tolerable and even enjoyable for a few days and a mini van might be a workable tour vehicle as well. Finally, I saw an early Tesla Model-X with about 60k miles yesterday for $29 grand U.S. I talked to a friend in the Car Business and he said $20k wholesale would be more like it. The Model-X is pretty roomy for an overnight sleep and you can run the AC or heat. A friend from the U.K. who bought a ranch in the High Desert of central Oregon makes Camping Yurts of all sizes many people use for Glamping. and a huge one with Glamping gear can be packed into a small camping trailer. Something like that might be interesting for the channel, and he might even provide one for the channel. (campingyurts)
Fantastic video and hope the camping trip goes smoothly! Looking forward to you getting the electric camping van …. and all the content!… can you rent it out like an Airbnb when you are not using it!? 💶💶💶💶 xCx
Hi guys, love the channel, really think the e Berlingo would be a more sensible option (cost wise), plenty of space for your new tent and probably has the option to double up and do small tours, without crippling your finances, whatever you decide I'm sure it will be entertaining !!😊✌🏻
Had a look on Citroen France website from here in UK, there are a few options and the seem to do free delivery, remember if financing to shop around for the best interest rate and that ultimately 'pcp' deals cost more than standard HP as you pay interest to offset the 'balloon' payment at the end.. Neil.👍🏻
Great video, as always lads. You've got to get the van, otherwise all that time and money you spent getting your licence was "money for nothing". ❤ to you both.
While I'm not in a position to be your financial advisor, Tim, you and Richard obviously both feel the second-hand VW ID Buzz would give you additional life-pleasing options. As a friend of mine once said, carpe diem. If you can find a way to swing it, I would say - buy it! Regarding the cooking out of the back impacts of the occasional rainy weather, a man of your ingenuity should be able to find an effective rain mitigation device, perhaps even if it's a low tech one (a tarp stretched over a couple of tent poles, perhaps)?
Mr Boo is such a joy - those facial expressions from the back of the shot, sheer bliss. And "Boots points", too funny.
Using the end kitchen in the rain won't be a problem for the VW Buzz, you can get tailgate tents fairly cheap which you can also put your portaloo in

You've got a tardis there.😊 Love the tent.
Thanks! 😊
Oh my lads - that was an hilarious ride home! But I am sure you will love the new tent. ⛺️ I look for are to new adventures.
Can't wait!
Amazingly it really doesn’t seem to have degraded in any noticeable way
A campervan is great! But why not first rent to see if you like it?
Think in a previous video, Tim said you had to have a driving licence for two years before you can rent. Tim's only just got his licence.
@@rayro999 Ah, good point! Obviously I haven't seen that video or I didn't listen well 🙂
Be careful the id buzz has had some issues that vw can’t work out eg not going into gear for no reason. All the best really like the channel
Thanks very much. I hear the infotainment isn’t the best either
Oh how exciting , I'm sure you can buy an awning for the little buzz ...increase your space considerably. , when I was growing up my parents used to have a VW Camper Van ....my mother used to drive off regularly with the awning still attached 🤣🤣🤣 fond memories
The history is very seductive
hi can you do an update on how Mr boos electric scooter is going and whether it has any problems and how he rates it .
We keep meaning to and Will!
Indeed that’s why we want a multipurpose vehicle rather than full on motorhome I think ..
We’ve seen them about. Maybe we’ll take another look. No good for my tours though..
re: your reservation about needing a tent, there are tents that add to back of the van to create a larger space. I'm looking right now for a link...
Indeed but If we put a tent on why not just get a cheaper vehicle and camp?
go for the ID Buzz so long as the finance doesn't cripple you, would be some adventure
The chance to go long distances excites us and it would still be an electrical challenge!
Chaps, we have a VW id.3 and it's been absolutely faultless. If you can try and drive a Buzz, I'm sure you'll love it. I've got a feeling that the Buzz seats give you great options to make a bed.
They do for sure with a little pull out kitchen underneath
As deltafoxtrot2 commented below, you can get a tailgate tent (apparently, I have not confirmed) for the ID Buzz, so that using it with the tailgate up suddenly gets you a bigger campervan. Bed still has to be long enough for Mr Boo of course....:o)
Great that you are thinking this way, it seems a good 'un, though rather expensive.
Cheers, Dave
I think David would be a perfect name for the id buzz
Are you a bit biased?;
@@MeandMonAmi 😂😂
Citroen Berlingo could be option you could have a rear drive away awning that way you would keep the tailgate door open allowing mr Boo to dangle his feet out.
Indeed and cheaper. My thing is though, if you are putting a tent up you may as well camp..
Just caught a bit of Yorkshire in mr boos accent. I remember you saying he was from the posh bit. Me thinking Harrogate 😊
Wetherby, he’s not that posh
@@MeandMonAmi posher than us in sunny Huddersfield. Thanks Tim for your reply😊
Opel Zafira e Campervan lite ??? Price !!!
The only down side I see with this type of camping is that men of a certain age , like myself , having to get up through the night and trudge to the toilet block .😢. But you could get a little toilet tent and a portable pottie , than it’s happy days 🚌 all the best with your decision 😊
Thanks I find a decathlon water bottle handy!
Your videos are just hilarious! Cant wait to see the next camping one!
thanks Janet
Compromise at the new tent with the cheaper Citroen e Berlingo. Happy days
Do what makes you happy ! Life is short 🎉❤
Absolutely!
we are coming to antibes next week!
Have a lovely time!
I was watching peacefully until I spat my coffee out laughing at 7 mins in :)
Hello. Weve enjoyed watching your channel for the last couple of years now and will continue to do so😊
First time we have sent a comment as we watch using our tv so commenting isnt possible.
@@MeandMonAmi by the way,we in Royston near Barnsley.
Love you guys amazing as always
Thanks so much!!
Have a look at the Maxus eDeliver 5. Cheaper than the iDBuzz and can be a camper too. Its newer so not sure if there will be much on the second hand market but a new Maxus likely compares in price to a second hand Buzz and easier to finance a new vehicle.
Thanks will check it out
Have you seen the rear tailgate tents you can get that attach to the rear door? Some of them have loads of stand up space.
Yup but I then think if I need a tent then maybe a smaller and cheaper Ev makes more sense
I’d go for a used Multivan or Renault Espace hybrid that is within your budget!
Oui, faites-le !!
Imagine that lovely tent inflated over the tailgate of the VW it would be wonderful massive space . And your sight seeing customers would love it
Oh I can definitely see it!
Yup they’ve made something quite standard very charming
A helpfull tip.
If you buy a van and sleep in it,
put a jack under it for the rocking.
If you buy a camper van and store it for
a long time, jack it up, wheels off the ground.
And last tip, why not a rooftent?
Sleep on the roof, inside of the van
as storage, cooking and so on.
Final question, could you give the link
for the fans that you use in Elton?
I know you talked about them in a video, but then i have to do a deep dive😂
Kind regards, and keep up the good work
Thanks. Roof tent still involves waking each other up up I fear!
@@MeandMonAmionly if you forget where they ladder is at night😂.
But indeed, could be a problem.
Both of you have great ideas for camping, and pretty soon i wil send you a camping care package 😊.
Stay charged❤
"At least you have protection for your knees" 🤣🤣🤣
True
Mr Boo is such a tender boy😊
Maybe what you really need now is just a better car, that will take all your new camping kit investment? Have a look at the older model Kia Soul EV ...comes with all the bells and whistles, proper aircon and you will still get decent enough range for what you do. Good for tall folk and seats 4. Models from 2017 can be found for well, well, under 10, 000€ so a much less scary loan. Plus they do one in black and red! Worth a look!
Thanks will check it out!
I think the big tent and an iD buzz.
That would be very luxe!
VW. Yup!!! Can easily make or have made tarp / screen for Mr Boo s. Stilts I’m sure he is worth the climb Timothy!!
Love your beautiful videos I think Mr Boo liked the VW BUZZ
Thanks. He does.
You could buy a small urinal like a large bottle with a flat base, in a pharmacy to get you through the night.
I will have to!;
Great fun ……. How you managed packing Elton in all that heat (52C) , I’ll never know !!!!
💕
This week we took all that and more to Italy and it was even hotter..
Fantastic video and hope the camping trip goes smoothly! Looking forward to you getting the electric camping van …. and all the content!… can you rent it out like an Airbnb when you are not using it!? 💶💶💶💶 xCx
Thanks. I think you can these days..
Hi guys, love the channel, really think the e Berlingo would be a more sensible option (cost wise), plenty of space for your new tent and probably has the option to double up and do small tours, without crippling your finances, whatever you decide I'm sure it will be entertaining !!😊✌🏻
Thanks. Yes much to think about. Haven’t seen a second hand e berlingo yet but must be some
Had a look on Citroen France website from here in UK, there are a few options and the seem to do free delivery, remember if financing to shop around for the best interest rate and that ultimately 'pcp' deals cost more than standard HP as you pay interest to offset the 'balloon' payment at the end.. Neil.👍🏻
Great video, as always lads. You've got to get the van, otherwise all that time and money you spent getting your licence was "money for nothing". ❤ to you both.
Very true! He he
Get it, do it, make it work 🙂
While I'm not in a position to be your financial advisor, Tim, you and Richard obviously both feel the second-hand VW ID Buzz would give you additional life-pleasing options.
My only worry is that we might end up camping anyway and not actually sleeping in it. Love the Buzz though.
Zó leuk om te volgen iedere keer!
Thanks Joop
