tony tran You can change your hay when they grow to an adult. Alfafa hay is unhealthy for your adult rabbit. It has too much calcium and can make their pee milky, and can even lead to kidney stones. Alfafa is more suitable for pregnant, breastfeeding, and young rabbits. But u can still give them little amounts of alfafa hay. Hope this helps 😁
3 years late but slowly mixing hays (this works with pellets too) is not only more likely to work, but less likely to cause GI stasis or an angry rabbit. also most claims about alfalfa being dangerous are unfounded by any science, though most prefer to feed unlimited timothy or orchard hay, and then feed an alfalfa pellet you can limit/increase if you see the rabbits ribs or spine, or if they become overweight etc. it's better to be strict about pellets and do unlimited hay than to ever try the reverse

Hi.. my lionhead rabbit is a 2 month old baby. I took her to the Vet on Thursday morning because I noticed that she hasn’t pooped during the night and she also lost her appetite. She normally would nibble on her hay rack. She’s diagnosed with GI Stasis, and i hardly force feed her with Critical Care. She’s also under antibiotics and some pain relief meds for the gas as prescribed. She passed runny poop on Saturday ( that’s her first poop after being diagnosed with stasis, and quite smelly). Your bunny’s poop got back to normal right away after having stasis? Please let me know because i have so many concerns about my bun. She still has no appetite unless i offer her some lettuce and celery. She barely drinks water as well, i just trick her by deeping veggies onto the water before feeding her or sometimes thru syringe.

My rabbit does not eat hay. I have been giving him a substitute which is corn leafs (vet suggestion). I stopped giving him pellets for a week because that’s what I’ve read/watch in order for him to start getting interested in hay. But I noticed that he is no pooping and getting to skinny. He eats the corn leafs only when they are fresh but not the 70 percent. Should I continue giving him the 1/4 cup of pellets a day? Help!
My bunny echo has just been to the vet 4 his vaccination and there's nothing wrong with him and he usually gobbles up the hay but he isn't eating it. He's an outdoor bunny and I think the reason might be that I recently took the bottom of his hutch off and he has grass as his floor. I know that he really likes grass too. Do you think this is why? Should I put the bottom back? Plz reply
+Echo Rabbits Did he stop eating after getting the shot? If so it could be a reaction to it and I would take him to the vet ASAP. I would take him to the vet no matter what if he's not eating. Also I would strongly encourage you to bring your bunny inside. It is much safer for rabbits to be indoors and they have longer life spans. It will also help you keep an eye on him while he's not doing well.
Hi! Could you maybe do a video on how to safely keep you rabbit outdoors? I might have to and I was wondering if you had some safety tips on runs, hutches, and how to keep them safe in the cold and rain and wind :D
I could give you some tips if you'd like if u have a screen room I recommend put them in there but if not put blankets a hutch would be perfect because it has a roof so rain can't get through and when it is cold keep them in the garage or Maybe a heater and if they won't bite a blanket give them on I hope this helps u but over all it would be strongly recommend to keep them inside though and if u could please check out my channel I have a new video coming out around weds day-Sunday -MJ and G
My baby holland lop (guessing about 9 weeks old) has a hard time eating hay. She is always digging for the little pieces like she can't figure out how to chew the big pieces. I watched her today and she attempted to chew a big piece but tried to chew it from the side instead of straight on like my adult rabbits and she couldn't grab it very well so she gave up. Is that normal?
my rabbit is 15 weeks old and eats alfalfa hay and alfalfa pellets perfectly but i’ve tried to introduce lettuce and cilantro to him but he is not interested in it at all and will not eat them. any tips i really want him to try new foods
I think my bunny doesn’t eat enough hay because I feed her too much pellets and leafy greens. Can you give me tips to slowly bring down how much I feed her? Also should I switch her hay? She eats it just not much. Please help (Edit) Also she moves her litter box around, and I made her a hay feeder out of a cardboard box, but since she moves her litter box around it’s not above her litter box anymore
Here only chipsi meadow hay is available in pet stores and my rabbit doesn't seem to like it much. Should i keep him more hungry so that he starts eating hay
Is it alright to feed rabbits hay from your local farm? I live very close to a small farm and they sell all types of hay and i just get Timothy hay to feed to my rabbits. I was not sure if its the best type to give to them, but they both really enjoy it.
+Cali Myers Yes it's perfectly fine! I used to feed hay from a local farm also until I moved to an area where hay is hard to find! Just be sure to get grass hay and not have to much alfalfa or clover in it.
My rabbit is almost 8 months, were you saying Timothy hay is fine? What about pellets? Is Timothy a good choice and is it healthy for them especially my rabbit who is almost 8 months?
my rabbit's first try of hay was yesterday, she ate it. But now she seems like playing it, scattering it all over the place. Hahaha I'm feeding her star grass hay.
My rabbit ignores the hay. Or he will push it away to edges with his paws. He likes a tidy floor It’s hilarious. It looks like he’s going to scrub the floor. I did notice he likes the Meadow grass by Oxbow. But expensive but if he’s actually eating it and not pushing it away then I guess that’s a good thing.
I just adopted a bunny at petsmart yesterday. I was told they were feeding him Timothy hay and pellets but I feel the bunny isn't eating the hay. He seems uninterested in the hay. My bunny eats the pellots but not often. what should i do? Is he not eating a lot because hes getting used to his new home?
I just got a bunny recently and i fed him timothy hay and he loved it. Until my mom gave him lots of veggies (celery and carrot). Now he doesn't even touch the hay at all, it worries me. I tried the hidden treats, but he just dig the hay and found them. Tried the toys, didn't work either 😞 Now he only wants to eat veggies and small cuts of fruit. 😣 spoiled rotten
because celery and carrot are just fatty foods to rabbits. I mean would you eat a plain biscuit or a tray of doughnuts xD get some greener veggies in him like parsley (not too much), broccoli, kale... then he might eat hay again! this is starting to work with my bunny. I used to feed him too many pellets :/
My rabbit hay has dry carrot pieces in some of it, she won't even dog through it though, I have to get them and some hay in my hand and she will go straight for the carrots :( she is 7 weeks old and I've had her for a week

my rabbit is 2 years old and he never ever eaten hay. now his teeth are growing and he still doesn't eat it. i did all 5 tips, but still he just refuses it. it is the third day that i put only hay and water in his litter box and he prefers to be hungry than eat it. at first he ate very little but now he has been hungry for to days. I'm very worried and will be very glad if u can tell me what to do to make him eat hay.
the problem I have is that this was a rescue and from the beginning she does not eat hay, I feed her with other things but she does not love the hay as she should.
any tips on getting a rabbit to gain weight? he eats a good amount of hay and around 3/4 a cup of Burgess excel pellets but never seems to gain weight :(
+tina c How much does your rabbit currently weigh and what breed is he? 3/4 cup of pellets is an awful lot of pellets for a rabbit! If he isn't gaining weight by eating that I honestly think he needs to be seen by a vet. How old is he?
+101rabbits I'm not sure how much he weighs but you can feel his little hip bones :( he's around 7 and not sure on the bread since he's a rescue but he's long haired, possibly a mix breed I've asked the vet but living in ireland there's very few vets that will even treat a rabbit or that know much about them! I'm not sure if it's just because he's so old I got him around 6 years ago and he was extremly underweight as he was abused but he gained all the weight and in the past year he seems to eat more but weigh less and I've called vets in my area and they won't even examen him they just say its because he's old but I feel bad that I know he's quite skinny
+tina c Hmm. That's really tough about the vet situation. As for how thin he is, it's ok to feel their bones, and actually healthy! If you couldn't feel them he would be obese! If you'd like, you could DM me on my Instagram @official101rabbits and show me a picture of him. I could try to help you more there.
My bunny ( Lion head) dosen't eat hay. What should i do? All he eats is: Apple ,salad, carrots, palads, more vegetables...and.. that's all..( he is very picky)
I have tried ALL oxbow hay (trust me, every kind) and ALL small pet select. nothing He show any interest in hay only alfalfa. strange??? Ive tried mixing and he digs out the alfalfa. No interest in toys... he is strange but happy does binkys and flops. He also gets the zoomies. He is very happy. Gets 1/4 cup of pellets and and fresh veggies.
I got my rabbit about 4 months ago and he was just a baby I'm not sure how old but old enough to eat pallets, I didn't know what gender he was till his balls got huge af (lol) I left him with my cousin since I had to leave town for a week and when I got back and picked him up I was quite surprised lol we're pretty sure he's a Netherland dwarf rabbit as we were only told he was a dwarf rabbit when we got him, the man also didn't know if he was a girl or boy since he was too young. Anyways I've been researching since the day I got him, and know how import hay is. But HE WILL NOT EAT HAY for anything. I feed him pallets y veggies which he loves. I've tried different brands and nothing. If you can tell me what breed he is I have pictures of him on my IG : karenitzel_
How old are your rabbits? After they are adult (5-6 months) Alfalfa is too high in calcium and not to worry you, but it can give them Bladder Sludge ((Bladder Stones)) because the buildup of calcium is too high. I suggest adding both Alfalfa and Timothy/Oat hay.
adopted a one year old rabbit; he will NOT eat timothy/alfalfa (recommended by vet) HAY. He will not touch ANY of the veggies = cilantro, parsley, green pepper, kale, romaine lettuce, mint, cucumber, and the list down. He will only eat his pellets and fruit, which I know is considered a treat. He will also eat oats, again, a treat. When I took him to the vet I was supposed to 'force feed' . This is crazy! I think my rabbit is sick and my mom said “I’m not taking it to the vet” and she is bleeding which I’m pretty sure means she isn’t getting enough fiber

+Pickles N. Cheese Glad you enjoyed!
My first bunny lived happily and without any health problems with only quality pellets and fresh veggies 12 years. I was too young and stupid ( still am) for researching bunny diet so I did the same routine for my next bunny. He is 6 years now and Holland lop and i want him to bi healthier and eat hay. How do I convience him to do so? Thank you for reply.
My rabbit seems to like to eat only pellet and is not eating hay. Today, we saw him starting to eat plastic/cotton from the training pad. Suggestions appreciated. Should we just give him more pellets so he stops eating the training pad? :(
Will try your solutions. Thank you.
Hi, could you recommend me some herbs to put on hay for my 9yo mini lop? i feel he's not eating enough hay, and would like your opinion on what worked for you?
Need link to the video about the various hay containers you’ve used, please. The SPS links above don’t work anymore.
Did you make your hay box (with the holes) or buy? If bought, where?
I have to use Kaytee hay because I’m not the one paying for my rabbit because i don’t have money but it’s not bad I just wish he would eat more he is a pretty small rabbit but he’s past the growing stage he’s like smaller than ur lulu and Idk if smaller rabbits only need a little bit for their digestive system but yeah I You have any more tips please help!!
Help!
What about oat hay? Is it too high in fat to be fed (in small amounts) daily? I really wish you would answer this question!
My vet couldnt confirm gi stasis but my rabbits teeth looked good. Its really weird because it seems like he only eats if i sit with him
Hi!
Could you maybe do a video on how to safely keep you rabbit outdoors?
I might have to and I was wondering if you had some safety tips on runs, hutches, and how to keep them safe in the cold and rain and wind :D
+me greene yass that would be awesome!
Thank you for the tips!
Where did you get that big wood hay rack?
This was really helpful thanks!! :)
My rabbit on eats it pellets and it’s veggies but not hay??
My baby holland lop (guessing about 9 weeks old) has a hard time eating hay. She is always digging for the little pieces like she can't figure out how to chew the big pieces. I watched her today and she attempted to chew a big piece but tried to chew it from the side instead of straight on like my adult rabbits and she couldn't grab it very well so she gave up. Is that normal?
Haley has great tips
My bunny eats her whole container of hay she loves Timothy
my rabbit is 15 weeks old and eats alfalfa hay and alfalfa pellets perfectly but i’ve tried to introduce lettuce and cilantro to him but he is not interested in it at all and will not eat them. any tips i really want him to try new foods
I think my bunny doesn’t eat enough hay because I feed her too much pellets and leafy greens. Can you give me tips to slowly bring down how much I feed her? Also should I switch her hay? She eats it just not much. Please help
(Edit)
Also she moves her litter box around, and I made her a hay feeder out of a cardboard box, but since she moves her litter box around it’s not above her litter box anymore
+Julianna Tube Rabbits are considered adults at 6mo of age. So your rabbit should definitely be getting Timothy. :)
Where did you get that blue container at 1:50 ??? Does anyone know??
Dollar Tree I think?
my rabbit's first try of hay was yesterday, she ate it. But now she seems like playing it, scattering it all over the place. Hahaha
I'm feeding her star grass hay.
Awesome video Babe! ❤ Thanks
Where can I find that kind of rack for Hay?
Great video! I love your channel so much!!!
I have a Himalayan rabbit do you know what would be the best hay for it
My rabbit ignores the hay. Or he will push it away to edges with his paws. He likes a tidy floor
It’s hilarious.
Bring him to the vet. Store bought rabbit usually die quicker, because the people there doesn't notice if they're sick. Speaking from experience.
I just got a bunny recently and i fed him timothy hay and he loved it. Until my mom gave him lots of veggies (celery and carrot). Now he doesn't even touch the hay at all, it worries me. I tried the hidden treats, but he just dig the hay and found them. Tried the toys, didn't work either 😞
Now he only wants to eat veggies and small cuts of fruit.
Can you feed bunnies green grass from your yard?
Where'd you get your litter box?
Thank you ♡
My bun Sabastian, is not sick. He begs for treats, pellets, vegetables, etc. He sometimes eats it, but it think he needs more. What do I do.
Does anybody know any stores that sell hay for rabbits? Other than online stores.
Pet co pet smart any pet store baycily and my Walmart even sells hay and it would be help full if u check my channel out I have a new video coming up around weds day-Sunday thx -MJ and G
+cute little bunny thanks I was also going to ask that
^-^ Very late reply to this but I found out my Walmart has hay :D
+101rabbits My rabbits are just very picky and I think they do not like hay I've given them different types of hay( and mixed them up), but they just do seem to like it. I just gave up and give them grass now, which they seem to like betterDo u know a way to get my rabbit to eat hay because I'm starting to run out of grass in my backyard from cutting it up.PLZ REPLY!
+James Kim have you tried the oxbow botanical hay? Also what does the rest of their diet look like?
+101rabbits I haven't tried oxbow botanical hay yet but I will try!Their diet is usually different types of grass mixed up, vegetables and some pellets( but not a lot of pellets). thank you!
where did you get your hay rack from?
+Marie Denisse Satuito We made it! Here is the video where we show the process: ua-cam.com/video/n2mDMPFgbTw/v-deo.html
thank you soooo much!!!
When you adopt your rabbit, can you just switch the hay if you didn't know what kind of hay they ate at first?
Can an adult rabbit survive and thrive on local meadow hay and fresh vegetables? 🙏
Who’s watching this in may 2019?
my rabbit would rather starve than eat timothy hay of any cut. he only eats oat haha
Just a question but is Kaytee a good brand I bought it for my bunny
my rabbit is 2 years old and he never ever eaten hay. now his teeth are growing and he still doesn't eat it. i did all 5 tips, but still he just refuses it. it is the third day that i put only hay and water in his litter box and he prefers to be hungry than eat it. at first he ate very little but now he has been hungry for to days. I'm very worried and will be very glad if u can tell me what to do to make him eat hay.
My bunny eats all her food but kind of ignores her hay occasionally I see her eat a little bit of it but she only eats it when I feed her it
Catgirl5959 Meow sameeeee
I have timothy hay for my rabbit i have him a few weeks he is eating his pellets but just not his hay
what if my rabbit only ate pellets and not hay how can i make him eat more hay?
My only issue with ox bow is that it’s so expensive for what it is
Mocha and the hay tube!!!!
I live in korea and I can't get hay easiky what should I do? Im going to try to go to amazon as some people suggested.
Do you get farms in korea. Maybe you could go to a farm and maybe buy hay bales of people idk
thx you is helps me
the problem I have is that this was a rescue and from the beginning she does not eat hay, I feed her with other things but she does not love the hay as she should.
Great!
any tips on getting a rabbit to gain weight? he eats a good amount of hay and around 3/4 a cup of Burgess excel pellets but never seems to gain weight :(
+tina c How much does your rabbit currently weigh and what breed is he?
THANKS!😂
Dried urbs
My bunny ( Lion head) dosen't eat hay. What should i do? All he eats is: Apple ,salad, carrots, palads, more vegetables...and.. that's all..( he is very picky)
Andreea btw bunnies shouldn’t eat too much carrots they have too high sugar content
Did you make that hay wrack yourself?
I got my rabbit about 4 months ago and he was just a baby I'm not sure how old but old enough to eat pallets, I didn't know what gender he was till his balls got huge af (lol) I left him with my cousin since I had to leave town for a week and when I got back and picked him up I was quite surprised lol
we're pretty sure he's a Netherland dwarf rabbit as we were only told he was a dwarf rabbit when we got him, the man also didn't know if he was a girl or boy since he was too young.
Is sterling dead? I just realized that he was not in the beginning of the video🤨
my rabbits will only eat alfalfa hay is that okay?
Had a rabbit for 10 years and this guy is driving me bonkers!!
I tried the treat thing and my rabbit just dug his nose in it to find the treats
My rabbit had gi stasis and he died a couple days ago :(. We think he got it because he refused hay.
Mine also died of gi stasis, he also wasn’t eating hay and suffered from dental problems. He’s in a better place now
Can a bunny (mine is about 2-3 maybe 4 months old) eat fescue hay? I figured u would know :)
I think my rabbit is sick and my mom said “I’m not taking it to the vet” and she is bleeding which I’m pretty sure means she isn’t getting enough fiber
