In the UK the Origins line went from £15 (Std) / £22 (Deluxe) to now £24 (Cartoon Std) and £35-40 for a collector set (Moss Man, Lord Grasp etc). This used to be a cheap line but now its got expensive.
I'm happy and sad about rereleases coming. Glad new to the line can get em, but for the collector, our collection value about to drop big-time.
I agree with sunman. Talk about one goofy line. It didn't even sell in the 80's.
My Walmart got a case of the Stinkor/Webstor wave about a month ago. And then right after that they got 2 cases of the Mantenna wave. Really weird! I was shocked!

I live in Vietnam where the line is not for sale. I managed to source a few online that were expensive because of postage. But now I'm finding g in the small shops of Saigon, Masterverse loose figures and Original MOTU loose...I just found original Snake Face for $3 and a number of Masterverse/New Eternia for $2 each.
thats pretty interesting thanks for sharing. i heard another guy who was trying to collect from there and all his boxes always got damaged he was having a really hard time
In the UK we had issues getting Trap Jaw, Leech, Snout Spout ... Trap Jaw had a reissue in the USA but we never saw it here in the UK, so i had to overpay £40 to get one and £30 for a Leech. Now id be cautious about overpaying for a standard figure due to these 'Fan Favourites' (Or in the real non-Mattel world we call them 'Reissues') coming out and it dropping the price. Peg warmers in the UK have been: SunMan, Clamp Champ, Evil Lynn, Naked Stratos, Battle Armours, Terror Claws, Flying Fists, Anti Eternia.
im a bit salty about the fan favorites after dumping so much money into the old ones i missed. im also salty they didnt let us vote on the fan favorites. i bought that reissue of trap jaw in a protective case. when i got home and took it out to put it in my own protective case the bubble glue was broke i was pissed because i paid $40 for it and also here they were hard as hell to find because it was a target exclusive and most targets didnt get them. im surprised anti eternia is a peg warmer there, well i guess not surprised at this point, just didnt know lol. thanks for the info
The entire run of the Roboto wave got shipped up to Alberta Canada. That wave was glogging up the pegs for almost two yrs. I bought a bunch when they went on sale for $5.00 and gave em to toys for tots at Christmas time. And then the same thing happened with the Fisto wave. The local ToysRus still has a few of em. Cheap cheap, special deal, $25.00. :)
thats interesting was it the first roboto or the repaint? i like hearing this stuff. we never saw the roboto repaint in stores here. the original roboto i wasnt collecting yet so i never saw it in stores had to get them from bbts when they did the limited re release.as for fisto he clogge dup our shelves quite a long time here as well but eventually left stripper stratos by himself.
It was the first Roboto. The repaint only saw VERY limited representation at Big Box retail. I saw that case once at a ToysRus, in a small city. @@hippa2dahoppa2
Man just said how I felt for the last 3 years HAHA I have to buy like 10 of each figure because I collect MOC and loose! Don't even get me started on the horrendous defects and paint jobs if you collect loose. I love this line but I actually can't wait for it to be over

My story on these is almost exactly the same situation. It's getting that way with those new Joes as well. Even if I'm mildly interested, the Joes weren't such a big deal as the He Man guys are.
I've been finding most of mine in discount stores, as well.

bro what their doing now mixing filmation into it, that new skeletor with the small pop looking figure, making 3 new walmart exclusives and a new target exclusive, im really either going to just stop at these dumb "fan favorites" or sell my whole collection. not to mention the dumb croud funds. i have such a love hate for this line. oh and now the tmnt/heman combo characters being considered origins. makes no sense

camo khan is such a nice figure, one thing i noticed about him is hes the only exclusive i know of so far that didnt come taped closed. a few people showed me it taped but for the majority its not sealed. and ive heard whiplash has been hard for people to get as well. he goes very quick
It's not just mattel with the distribution problems, it's everybody, mattel, hasbro, spinmaster and so on, the only 1's I see that dont have distribution problems is hot wheels, god knows hot wheel collectors are the worst collectors, those guys are some messy fools, but getting back to distribution it's the world bro, everything is screwed up, this country is being ran to the ground and it affects us majorly. Inflation, all that BS bro. It sucks I know.
yah thats true. i cant have caffeine so i either drink root beer or sprite, and i have one of those mega walmarts by me and they just never have it anymore. i mean most the shit i want to buy they just dont have. i had surgery not long ago and they didnt even have the antibiotics in stock lol

@@Sideswipe5236 supposedly they are moving the origins line to mattels website online only, and only the new filmation characters will be in stores. thats what mattel said in a interview. yay for damaged boxes and gouged shipping and taxes
Sun-Man is (by far) the worst figure here in Europe. Pegwarming like hell since mid-2022 and preventing some stores (e.g. Rossmann) to bring in any new figures at all. At Smyths you can have him for 5 € but still nobody buys him. No other figure ever went that low.

Going back 20 years now. I was working at Toys R Us when the 2002 series was going on and we NEVER got the toys at our Toys R Us! I would see them at toy collector shops and toy shows during my Star Wars hunts and they were overpriced at $40-$70 a figure.
i still got the stickers on my 200x when i worked at kb toys they were 4.88, but i also worked at the outlet kb toys so our prices were maybe a dollar or 2 cheaper. but we also only got select figures and not the whole line. i remember going into toys r us back then and browsing and everything was so expensive. i remember i think it was the classics or dual packs i really wanted from there and they were just so much money. i got lucky at kb toys, we had only 8 employees most were girls so they had no interest in anything that came in and i was the only person who unloaded and priced the truck alone so i got to pick what i wanted. i only wish i made more money to buy more stuff
@@hippa2dahoppa2 Interesting. I don't recall ever seeing MOTU stuff at the Kay Bees around here in Jersey. While I was working at TRU during the 2000-20001 season, I did grab one of each on the commemorative reissues of the MOTU figures from the 80's. Even grabbed the big 5 pack gift set with the (I think) exclusive Moss Man reissue.
Never knew until a few minutes ago, JC Penny did a giant 10 pack gift set reissue of He Man, Teela, Man At Arms, Skeletor, Fakor, Tri Clops, Trap Jaw, Beast Man Evil Lyn and Mer Man.

@@hippa2dahoppa2 They did reissues of some of the original line up in 2000-2003ish and from what I read, they no longer had the molds for the figures. Either destroyed or they were sold off and according to one story, Hasbro went shopping on eBay and found some of the original molds at auction, purchased them and recast new molds from the old molds they sold off years prior.
Anyway, the first run the figures were sold individually, then they did He Man and Battle Cat/Skeletor and Panthor 2 pack sets and finally they did big gift boxes that had folding sides that you opened up to see all the figures that were already released individually. The 5 packs were already pretty big so I can imagine how large the 10 pack would have been. They did 1 or 2 3 packs as well.
There was about a week last December where you could find that Orko, Trap-Jaw, Scare Glow, Man-E-Faces refresh wave at Target retail. They came and went in an instant.
its been odd the past month alot of old stock is showing up but like you said its coming and going as soon as it hits shelves. that should prob be a hint to mattel not to put out 500k chicken stratos thats been on the shelf for 2 yrs lol
I started collecting this line from day 1...it was fun at first, ripped them all out of the packages since I'm a loose collector...THAN the exclusive BS and distribution issues...I've since abandoned this line.
im trying so hard to hang in there. im hoping 2024 will be the last year

If I hadn't gotten lucky and saw Pixel Dan's post on twitter about mattelcreations putting a pre-order up, I'd have sold off everything...I absolutely refuse to play this exclusives game...on a lighter note, their WWE Superstars line has been less like pulling teeth to collect. I'm just missing two.
@@paolomongon6616 oh god the superstars are a even bigger nightmare. my local walmart gets a pretty decent selection but they all look like someone hit them with a baseball bat. i bought warrior because he was on sale and decided to stay away. making those a walmart exclusive is insanely fucking dumb. such good figures segregated to one store and most people cant get them. yet theyll pack every other store with that masterverse bullshit. i got lucky and got duplico on the one day sale. i had to order 3 in order to just get one in good condition. i should of ordered 10. thats sad when you have to order 10 figures just to get one in good condition.
@@hippa2dahoppa2 One of the reasons I'm glad I open my stuff. The Superstars line is fine for me as far as the hunt goes....but the previous line...the WWE/MOTU line...was like pulling teeth!! I can't stand Masterverse either...I bought a New Eternia He-man for a Conan the barbarian custom I'm working on because he has a nice rugged face sculpt, but all the others are hideous.
You better open her to make sure you have an actual figure. Don't wait otherwise you might be out of luck.
unfortunately they only refund instead of send new ones for the exclusives. i may open it eventually im not sure yet. depends how much room i have. i have alot of new products that havent shipped out yet to display downstairs.
5:35 yep, that sounds like the Mattel I know. Its as if they don't know their own products and an A.I. is running things there. They overproduce the wrong items and undersproduce the wrong items. 🤦♀️.
Im still waiting for Mattel to do the rest of POP for MOTU not just She-Ra.

Also.. I don't think Walmart Canada even carries Motu at all anymore. Never got Moss-man and there's no pegs or space for anything new or even old to back fill.
its happening here in the states also, i found 2 walmarts that stopped carrying completely. moss man is a bit hard to find in the states hes either in the stores and gets a restock, or he never comes to that store at all. with black friday and christmas im seeing a few more pop up. mattel said they are ending the line to all online sales so 2024 they arent suppose to have new product in stores. but then again there is new walmart and target exclusives coming sometime next year so i dunno what the hell they are doing. i dont think the stores even know lol
I'm pretty over the whole Origins line. The whole collecting experience has been a hassle since day one. Ya some of it can be blamed on the pandemic. But most of it can be blamed on giving exclusive first sale rights to a store that makes most of its money on adult diapers and haemorrhoid cream. That and the people placing the stock orders. Under order the A list characters, and then when there's demand for them, they over order all the D listers. Just shows the lack of product knowledge their staff has. @@hippa2dahoppa2

Western NC Charlotte area , had Ram Man for days at Target. Still see some lingering around. And for some strange reason Hordak Buzz saw now back at Targets Here . When you think you figured this line out , you realize this line still makes no sense. Ollie’s now has tons of both Battle Armor deluxe from 2021 😳 that must of been lost for years somewhere.
ive heard a few people spotting hordaks again. what surprises me yet again is with ollies having the battle armor i couldnt find those anywhere in stores when they were out. they had the peg tag but never the figures. just like you said well never figure it out lmao
Yeah, tired of Mattel’s shit. Canada always gets screwed with Walmart exclusives as well. Some of the stuff doesn’t even reach us. I can’t wait to finish the character I want, then I’m out. Mattel really fucked over all of the fans and customers of this line with their distribution.
i just bought 6 of the "fan favorites" what a shitty cash grab move that was on their part. only makes me hate this line even more. but hey at least orko will be out for the 3rd fucking time before rokkon is even released *sigh*

i actually messaged them and asked them yesterday lol. i got my pre order in and skipped the filmation. looks like they are making the waves mixed with filmation and re issues. so there will be a few more comin like triklops. the only difference is these say fan favorite in the corner. i dunno why they consider filmation part of origins but im skipping them
@@hippa2dahoppa2 Filmation is the same kind of figure as Origins just like Rulers Of the Sun are. I hate the Filmation figures & I'm also skipping them. The only one that looks good IMO is Teela because her face doesn't look cartoony at all. The only Filmation figures I'll get are the females. I was never a fan of the Filmation cartoon & I'm not buying all the figures all over again. I don't need every variation. Also, Filmation ruined a lot of the characters like Spikor, Clawful & Mantenna. Spiker is my favorite character & they ruined his face. Gave him a human nose. I wouldn't "BUY" that figure, I would "BURN" it.
I'm not waiting for the reissues. They reissued the Trap-Jaw wave but I never saw them. I saw in a couple toy hunt videos that they showed up at Target with a special cardboard display. I never saw any trace of any of it, not even the cardboard display. I don't even know if my Targets ever got them. I just bought Tri-Klops off ebay for $44, I'm not waiting a year for the reissue.
@@sci-fi.tsunami i never saw those displays and i looked all over the northern part of my state multiple times hoping to snag one. it seems like california would get them the most. i dunno if the shipping containers and distribution start there or what. i agree with teela that one looks good. i was thinking if any i might get beast just to have 1. but theres no way in hell im buying the entire line again as cartoons lol. 44 for triklops is a good deal. i paid like 75 for mine at a convention but i at least knew i was leaving with it in mint condition.
It's so funny to watch this. In Austria we got Buzzsaw Hordaks and Ram Man's and Fakers for years and years in the stores. Nobody wanted them... We never got minicomic Stratos and Minicomic Trap Jaw, Kronus/Keldor set, Eternia Guard. But we got scare glow, Orko, Triklops, Trapjaw, ninjor. Got them all at smyths toys.
smyths i hear is a good place out that way, possibly the only place i think? i think keldor. scareglow(40) orko(40) trapjaw(40) were all target exclusives. which i dunno why the hell do they do store exclusives when they dont have those stores in other countries. i saw a guy in the phillipines once post a pic of triklops peg warming im like what! today i went to target and they had 2 international deluxe hordaks. im surprised you guys never got stratos. this distribution is so wonky its good to hear from people in other countries on what they got. oh also our eternia guard i never saw in any store except a store we have called "big lots" which is kind of like a low budget store thats affiliated with outlet stores.
While I agree the price creep on the Origins figures is getting out of hand, the Playmates rereleases just don’t cut it these days. Playmates needs to release an Origins style version of the TMNT line. Origins’ articulation reinvigorated my love of MOTU.
now that would be really cool swapable parts for tmnt. they do have the he man turtles crossover happening i saw a image of one so maybe those will be coming soon?
I am ok with the TMNT line being vintage sculpts, but origins style updates would be cool as well. Trouble with TMNT is its over saturated, everyone is making toys for it so that bubble will burst soon, the nostalgia cant support that many toy lines long term. Also all the stupid variants: Clown, Trek, Toon, Storage Shell, Pizza Shooters, Wacky Action ... it got stupid.

yah the goal was to make room for moss man deluxe, which failed because he came in a box instead. some people will buy the entire peg and return them to another store so their store will get new product. i decided to keep them because ill eventually sell them for cheap or donate them to the churches next door to me.
I was wanting to get into collecting motu. So you would advise against it
it depends what type of collector you are. if your a completionist that tries to get every character and tries to get them in good condition i would avoid it at all costs. they have even halted the origins line to do spinoffs called filmation and the ninja turtles he man combo figures and are calling all those origins but have nothing to do with the original line at all. plus they are all hard as hell to get. the majority of them you have to buy online so its not as fun as finding them in the store. mattel also said they are finishing off th eorigin line online and not putting anymore in stores. so you also have the burden of paying shipping constantly even if it says free shipping they usually just raise the cost of the figure like $2 or more so it adds up. as far as masterverse heman and some of the other heman figures i dunno about those. youll spend most of your time browsing ebay for things you missed, in which you can find for double the price and usually smashed up. i usually shop at big bad toy store online and buy the collector grade for new stuff. i would of never started this line if i knew how bad the distribution and direction was going to be. out of all the figures and vehicles i have which i think is 113 now, i prob found maybe 10-15 in stores at most when i look in my collection. and spent hours taking road trips coming up empty handed. all the walmarts or targets i go to are still on wave7 from over a year ago. even though the product is currently on wave 15. so over half the collection never even hit the stores
also with the above being said if you have fun hunting on ebay for the perfect condition toy and hoping itll be delivered as good as it looks in the pic, then you should be able to find all characters. people seem to always be selling their collection. i just bought 2 variants today on ebay from poland and hoping they come. it was fun finding them, but ive tried to purchase these figures 3 times already and each time they came damaged and had to return them lol
MY RESPECT Y HAVE THIS COLLECTION, I LIVE IN COLOMBIA SO TRUST ME HERE IT IS SO HARD, BUT MINT IS IMPOSSIBLE, I LOVE THIS LINE, BUT FOR EXAMPLE HORDAT HERE IS LIKE 14 BUCKS, MANY OF THEM ARE SO CHEAP
It is even more random in Turkey, I remember catching the first 2020 wave with Fisto and Whatnot, got the Battle & panther for like 5 dollars each, it was crazy. But tides changed way too quickly, most of the waves, just skipped Turkey & Europe (nothing on Amazon as well). Right now we got some snake armour heman and others from that wave and that's about it. I am mad about the trap-jaw and triclops, since they were my favs I am gutted, and seriously no hope.
I kinda of laugh the hate the comic Stratos lol, I like him.
originally i liked him until he was everywhere i went lol. i love turks me and my friend always talk about visiting there one day. that sucks distribution is that bad there. even if you buy from the states the packages prob get crushed. i think the fan favorite versions of triklops and trapjaw will be coming next year sometime but prob only be online mostly. i hate buying the same figure 3 times though
I got them all it was a crazy story mine was a lot easier mostly bbts walmart had a wave I couldn't believe I found overpaid for 4 figures that were re-released and now I've got all of them exclusives included Cartoon filmation and mattel creations to be continued great time to collect
TMNT were DEFINITELY NOT 10.00 here in CANADA ... EASY PASS for me ..VINTAGE ONLY BABY .. !!!
how much were they? 10$ american dollars is about 13.50 canadaian dollars but im wondering how high they are. they just came out with 3 new remake figures, april o neal, mondo, and that fish guy thingy lol. for me the packaging really grabs me. my friends keep thinking they are the vintage ones i have to keep telling them they arent. i like the old school look on them.
I’m still upset about the lack of distribution with the WWExHeMan line. Hard as hell to find then none at all despite releasing new waves. As term for shipping and mint…..yeah I’ve been getting the Neca Gargoyles and a few have came in far from Collector Grade 😂 Almost like they ran out and grabbed the first one they could to fulfill the pile of loot before shipping
ive had pretty good luck with collector grade but ive never tried anything besides heman. the wwe/heman line was something i missed and seems almost as if its nonexistant but what a awesome line. i saw a few at toy conventions they were pretty high priced but i didnt want to buy 1 and then have a urge to try to hunt that whole fiasco down lol. what year did that line start and how long did it last? ive always been curious to know more about it
@@hippa2dahoppa2 I’m assuming 2020. I know once I got back into wrestling and got my sons into it I started buying them figures. One day at Walmart ran across the 1st wave. Bought Sting which was made to be similar to a Clawful with the accessories added. But I believe that wave included Sting, HHH, Fin Balor, and Ultimate Warrior. With a Greyskull ring featuring Cena and HHH. I know what you mean about the urge to collect them. Tried getting the others and was difficult to say the least. Then wave 2 popped up at this time I found it it was a Walmart exclusive series. But never got any due to money being tight. Eventually I found wave 4 then wave 3, then some wave 5. Always low stock, damaged cards, etc. Finally figured out the wave releases with Ringside Collectables( I guess they stopped being Walmart exclusives at that point). Sadly could never find anymore anywhere but online for mark up scalper prices. They had a couple more waves and some different rings. The could even be used with the He Man line since they were basically the same type of figure. Definitely was a cool mash up line and probably could went longer if it didn’t release during Covid. Or what I like to refer it to in the collecting community “The everybody became a scalper era” lol

Tooling and articulation in the motu origins would be a big reason why they arent as cheap as the turtles reissues id say tho
thats a good point i never really thought about that. some are cheap repaints but there are also a few figures they just cant re use body parts for and have to do a one off sculpt.

i have him, i believe he was downstairs on my shelf display at the time. i traded a extra duplico for him. but im missing sun man exclusive and triklops exclusive still. the new figures i keep in the living room until a new batch comes in then i rotate them upstairs. since im in the living room the most i can look at them more until they get a bit old

i got him, hes downstairs on display. i only found him once in a store and the corner was bent and i passed on him thinking i could find him again and never could. ironically i ended up buying one with a slightly bent corner at power con that looked exactly like the one i passed up lol. but i only paid 20 for it so i was ok with it. might try to find a more mint when the line is over i dunno. sometimes im way to picky

what state are you in if you dont mind me asking? i know in new york theres a store where people can find figures pretty easy. and a few areas where they have toy shops that get new stuff in.
