Completely agree, and as a metal head all that I had seen/heard was what my friends talked about, which was her image. Thanks for the comment!

The people that talk shit about Billie have no clue what real vocal talent is.

She did write some songs that have a jazzy feeling, her discography is super diverse. Give it a try

I have started to delve in a little bit, I added Happier than Ever (the whole album) to my daily listen playlist. I've been loving the title track and getting older!

I have followed female singer songwriters since the 1960s and have seen only a few with Billie's vocal ability. What is also shocking is her young age, to be so advanced with her voice control. Amazing talent. There are so many songs she does that show this but most people only know Bad Guy, in itself a creative song that blew open the mainstream market for her, but her true vocal talents are elsewhere. You don't mention her stage presence, her ease and total fun she is having, This was a tribute to a legend, Peggy Lee, and Billie was a natural. She has probably been singing this song for 10 years. Her knowledge and exposure to music is vast from her parents and brother.
Check out 'Everybody Dies; live on Howard Stern for one that she and her brother wrote (and she had a cold that day). My dream is a jazz cover album from her. Her 2nd album, 'Happier Than Ever' is a more mature example of her jazz abilities imo. Thanks for your expertise!

If that jazz album sounded anything like this I would listen to it all the time. Her stage presence is great, she looks like she is just having fun doing something she loves doing. Thanks for the comment, and the complement!

@@JonHooverMusic I like seeing skilled musicians like yourself, review artist I like. I'm not quite sure why Billie struck such a chord with me, but she has, and her brother. She actually is on video a few years ago 'singing' the praises of Peggy Lee. Also mentioning Sinatra, Julie London (who she says inspired much of her recent album). Plus she loves the Beatles, which thrills me. Videos I've seen of her parents' creativity, child rearing approach, as well as many humanitarian causes... they are using their good fortunes and talents to help others. Sermon over....

If you liked this, I would recommend these for you:
*Her cover of Micheal Jackson’s “Bad”
*Her live performance of “My Future” (Tiny Desk was a good one)
*Her cover of Bobby Hebb’s “Sunny”
*Her live performance at the Brit Awards of her Academy Award winning James Bond theme song “No Time To Die”

You say "all my years" of listening to Billie Eilish - makes you sound 30 or older! That it took this listen for you to be "wildly impressed" reflects - perhaps - inexperience. Billie's uniqueness and vocal prowess were recognized several years ago. Barbara Broccoli of the Bond Movie Enterprise heard Billie in Ireland and asked her to submit a song for "No Time to Die". Hans Zimmer heard the song and knew she was a generational artist. I'm 68 and went to my first concert in over 40 years on March 15, 2022 to see Billie - she was/is awesome. I'm a retired minister who chanted the liturgy for many years [and Matins, Vespers, etc] leading your church music and some vocal training might not make one an expert (I could be wrong!). Appreciation and a good ear are gifts you have I believe. Billie is always on pitch. Perhaps watch Nina Schofield's review of Billie singing "FEVER" Aug. 3, 2022. Peggy Lee's FEVER may have chosen Billie and not the other way around - Billie has been inspired by Peggy Lee for many ytears [By the way you might watch Peggy Lee live from 1963 on txikecouto (channel - July 25, 2012) or her 1967 live perfomance [on Daily Motion Gareth Miller July 13, 2017[ In both those performances the percussionist is Jack Sperling and he's super. THERE IS A PERCUSSIONIST in Billie's performance, with Christian McBride the awesome Bassist!' - there are several experienced vocal coaches/reviewers - perhaps watch Big Brain Singer channel Nov. 12, 2021 review Billie Eilish singing Michael Jackson's "Bad" for Triple J's "Like A Version" - consider how a 16 yr old "breathy" singer reinterprets this great song to fit her voice/style. [One further note, Little Willie John (1937-1968), though he didn't care for the song, performed "FEVER" before Peggy Lee]

Thanks for the comment! I can promise I am not 30 or over! Thank you for answering the Lord's call on your life, being a Pastor is not an easy job. I thought I was called to it, but God (or it might be me rebelling, I do sway in that direction) has different plans for my life. I certainly wouldn't consider myself an expert in anything, there is so much that I don't know even in the realms that I spend the most time in. I appreciate the compliment of my ear! I'll be sure to check out your recommendations!

Her vocals are jazzy from the start even in Bad guy the most pop trap song if you listen very carefully when she ends words you can hear her vibrato + tone = jazz .. you can listen Billie singing more jazz in her cover Bad by MJ, from her EP: my boy (that beginning so jazz charisma), party favour, then her debut album “8” Etc (Xanny the production has elements from jazz) .. in her last album My future, Billie bossa nova, even in Lost cause and I didn’t change my number her vocal harmonies so jazzy and dreamy or “ Santa song” on SNL (here WOW immediately a flash from 20-50s of music) and “Silver bells” her jazz tone enchants me every time … and now she is evolving vocally…. i hope she gets more familiar with her huge different vocal style elements and specializes them more especially in jazz and i hope she gains more vocal support and power.. the potential is huge from her.. there is something special and rare in her voice that could make her one the most unique and interesting not only artist for her style, performances, music but vocalist of this century besides Amy Winehouse, Norah jones Etc
She has so much jazz 20-60s in her vocals and a perfect tone for that genre I hope she keep doing this sound experimenting with pop with elements of jazz old music and maybe turning the pop more jazzy and it would be amazing.
I also know she likes to experiment with genres so I know we will hear a little bit of everything in her albums so many elements of different genres .. to me she is the only interesting pop artist … the only one who is not interested in creating hits but in experimenting and taking risks from day one and she is the 2nd best selling female artist in the world after Taylor swift for 4 years now .. if she succeeds with that genre of music .. there is hope for a pop renewal .. and change .. I see new female dance pop artists having a hard time making it to the charts instead Lana del rey Born to die is charting now .. after 2019 thanks to Billie's explosion I see appreciate more alternative pop artists and more experimental female artists increasing.. I see so many genres now on the charts … the air is changing in music and BILLIE has changed it since 2020 bc before it was DEAD.. FLAT.. all the same .. after I saw an important change …. Even Taylor swift casually in 2020 switched her career in alternative pop/indie/folk music with her last albums … i saw alternative Latin enter the charts, i see some “alternative rock” so much confusion and a mess there … but this is good we have come in a period of transition of stalemate .. because people now listen to anything .. any genre and artist with different platforms Etc and Billboard cleared up the music crisis of finding new pop artists… bc it’s true now people listen to everything.. hopefully we will slowly see more real innovative artists….. with interesting music…hopefully… 😅

In early interviews, Billie credits her vocal technique to singing in the Los Angeles Children's Chorus from the age of 8. Some people may not love her whispery stylings--but it's a deliberate choice, as some of her more recent work has shown.

You look like a guy who understands singing so I recommend Billie singing Sally's song last year, it's so good is crazy. I've always considered her a good vocalist before even when she was younger but this one is out of this world. A completely different style , and she's proving at only 20 (she was 21 yesterday btw) she can basically do any style and she is incredible every time. ua-cam.com/video/PC_6ew4wKdU/v-deo.html

@@JonHooverMusic since u are a metal guy I have one more suggestion to give you I think you'll enjoy her live concerts are always high energy she used to have mosh pits and everything (I know nobody believes it but its true she loves them and would coach her audiences in certain songs to do them) she has a lot of dark music and lyrics too it's not your common popish stuff. this one is an insane one at reading festival in the UK . (music starts near 2 min first she's talking to the audience) The fact that she was 17 not even an headliner, it was a slot in the mid of the afternoon and she had one of the biggest crowds ever there is crazy. Her control of that size audience is insane actually at that age imo. this was back in 2019, she'll be heading the festival next year . hope u enjoy it. ua-cam.com/video/tFBPgkk_eFE/v-deo.html
