Thanks for the video. We compared the 1x fertilization to the 3x fertilization. And there is is no difference in the yield achieved. The difference is that 3x application takes more time and cost more money, so less profit. and here is the breakdown. Lets say we have 2 fields with the same size and planted with the same crop. And lets say that without fertilization both field yield 10,000 liters of harvest. If you play the one time fertilization than your yield doubles to 20,000 liters. If you play the 3x fertilization and plowing than your yield increases like this plowing +10% of base=11,000; 1. fertilizer +40% of base=14,000; 2. fertilizer 70% of base=17,000 and 3. fertilizer +100% of base=20,000. The 3x fertilization is just a change in game play but not in the outcome. And probably makes it a little more realistic.
Once you can afford the more expensive weeder. 1) Harvest. This re-sets the fertilization to zero. 2) Plow, if the field needs it. ( Shows as red in the "needs plowing" on the menu. You only need to do this every third harvest. 3) Use the 9M weeder, with the seed tank on it This ALSO gives one stage of fertilization.. You can do this immediately after plowing. Cultivate first if ti satisfies your realism itch. Select the oilseed radish option on the weeder. It can also seed grass. 4) Let the oilseed radish grow. It only needs one growth tick. 5) Cultivate, then seed with a fertilizer box equipped seed drill. If you have the money to afford a direct seed/fertilizer box drill, such as the 9M Horsch, You can a) cultivate in the radish, and b) seeds your crop of choice, and c) fertilizes. all in one pass. You have now achieved max yield. The weeder uses VERY little seed. About 25% of the cost of fertilizer for the same area, per pass of fert. spreader. And since you wind up with two stages of fertilization from one pass, it rapidly pays for itself. With the less expensive weeder, you can 1) Harvest, as above. 2) Run the weeder over the field, it will give one stage of fert. 3) cultivate/seed, either one pass or two depending on your equipment. If you have a fert. box seeder, you will now be at two stages of fert. 4) Weed again after first growth stage. You now have max fert. levels. And only paid for fertilizer once. The weeder also works on grass fields. once after harvest, once at first growth stage, and they show as deep blue. The machine is slower than a fert. spreader, but costs nothing in consumables. ( the 12m less expensive one) You can also use the 9M weeder, without it turned on, the same as the 12M one. If you cultivate between passes of the fertilizer spreader, you can do all three stages, right after each other, no waiting, because you have worked it in. For those who want it to be fast.
Since you only need to plow occasionally, I've worked out a different sequence. First fertilization either after harvest or cultivation (depending on what your seeder can do). Second stage is the included with the seeder. Third stage is with the weeder at the first growth stage. Or you can plant oilseed radish after the first stage w/fertilization sower, then cultivate it in after it comes up to go to the third. Lots of options in this game.
It doesn't matter when you fertilize. For ex you can plow, sow, fertilize, wait for the plants to appear, fertilize, wait for the next growing cycle, fertilze. You can even fertilize when the crop is fully grown.
As some have mentioned using a combination of weeding and radish plant you can avoid fertilizer completely, the cost of seeds for the radish is significantly lower than fertilizer so this way you keep the cost much lower at the price of some extra work. As the radishes only have to reach growth stage 1 before you cultivate them it's doesn't add much time either. Great tutorials thought Ian, keep them coming :) ps: Also as they patched crop destruction so radish is no longer destroyed you can get full coverage now.
If you have cows put manure on the plough then cultivate the sow then fertaliser on then use a sweet then fertaliser the harvest. But for grass put liquid manure on.
I am not using any fertilizer. Plant oilseed radish. Wait for it to pop. Weed oilseed radish. Cultivate oilseed radish. Plant crop. Wait for it to pop. Weed crop. All 3 stages done without a drop of fertilizer. Color me green. :P
man you are super. I was searching for short and explanatory video like this. everyone is makin 20 min video and I cant find what I look for. Subscribing
First of all thank you for the great tutorial :) If you want to minimize the cost even more , plow->use seeder with fertilization system->use weeder on the first growing stage -> again use weeder on the second stage ;) One question, is it worth it to make silage and sell it on biogas facility on hard??
How’s net gain to fertilization cost with 3 stages, compared to the old FS15 system, where you only fertilize once? With regards to usuing either fertilizer or sprayer, rather than your own free manure of course
This is my sequence: 1-harvest 2-Fertilize (liquid, solid, manure, or slurry) 3- Plow if necessary, if not just cultivate 4-use seed drill with fertilizer 5-Use Weeder 6-repeat
There's one of two conditions in order for another level of fertilization to occur. Either the ground has to be worked, or, growing stage has to shift.
Question: I fertilized my field and planted. My crop is growing and I turned on Plowing Required and 3 Stages of Fertilizing. However, when using the liquid fertilizer machine, I press 'hire worker' and the machine just stops. Does this mean the crops do not need fertilized?
Sometimes the hired workers don't work so well. If your seeder fertilized at the same time it might not have been able to add an additional layer of fertilization
there is 1 thing you just forget and you lost it, when you take the wheat and what you leave behind on the fields can you make haybailes from and it's another way to make money on short time
Hi, i watch your video and its really helpful like all your vids....In game HELP i read this....But remember that fertilization is only effective once per growh stage. So did you test your way and this fertilizer per grow stage? Is it same?
So when I need to plough I'll do this but when I don't need to then I'll do this (I'll put lists here of the both ways and someone tell me if it's correct) When I need to plough 1. after harvest fertilize 2. plough 3. fertilize 4. cultivate 5. seed with a fertilizing seeder When I don't need to plough 1. fertilize after harvest 2. cultivate 3. seed with a fertilizing seeder 4. Fertilize on the first growth stage
Isn't this just one way of getting max yield? "Between each fertilization either the soil must be worked (cultivated, plowed, sown etc.) or the plants have to grow at least one stage before you can fertilize again." is what I have read somewhere. I also found somewhere a description on how to get 130% yield, but I can't confirm it yet. 1:Plow down the field (+10%) 2:Plant Oil Radish and cultivate it into the field when grown enough (+30%). 3:Sow and fertilize your field (+30%). 4: Fertilize your field at second AND third growth stage/or use the Weeder at one of the stages (+30% each time). 5:Harvest.
Hey man, isn't it just cheaper to buy a simple liquid fertilizer sprayer? You can just spray the fields as they grow and easily reach stage 3 fertilization. It requires less equipment.
Thanks, Iain. Was gonna ask about other methods to maximize yield but looks like others have already flogged you for it :) Looking forward to more videos and this one helped a lot. Curious what your thoughts are of this map? Personally I'm not a fan. I loved Westbridge Hills, do you know if they'll bring it back?
You only need to plough after "3" seeded and growth field. So you explanation is correct in some way but not all the way correct, fertilize, plow ??? you only need to plow after 3 stage of growth fertilize, cultivated, fertilize. So if you have not to plow, than follow these steps fertilize, cultivate, fertilize, seed, fertilize. This is in my way the 2 steps for 3 time fertilize but hey you can choose for 1 time fertilize, so that's the way i do it and much easier.
This is my new way : Harvest,Fertilize, than use the Pronto 9 DC,fertilize. Advantage is this, buying cultivator and plow and seeder cost around the 200 k whit this only 96 k for a machine that does everything in one plowing, cultivating, seeding, fertilizing.Maybe make a video about this one.
You're putting down too much fertiliser. Plowing is stage 2 fertilisation on your video not stage 1. You should plow, then seed with fertilising seeder then finally fertilise and that's all 3 stages done. If you put down more fertiliser than that it won't do anything to your crop yield

Dun worry most people kant...:P

Yep that is another possibility too.
lol I just tried to fertilize my feilds after seeding and already cultivated my harvested feilds. 😱
in english please
If you have cows put manure on the plough then cultivate the sow then fertaliser on then use a sweet then fertaliser the harvest.
But for grass put liquid manure on.
Thank you for breaking that down for me. I am too lazy to read, so this will really help me get my yields up.
Glad it helped
I am not using any fertilizer. Plant oilseed radish. Wait for it to pop. Weed oilseed radish. Cultivate oilseed radish. Plant crop. Wait for it to pop. Weed crop. All 3 stages done without a drop of fertilizer. Color me green. :P
+Wyeri 1 yep there are definitely multiple ways to do it
Is oilseed radish a mod or part of the vanilla game?
StoneE4 it's part of the game. The symbol looks like a weed if you look on your seeders.
DO you realy need to cultivate after plowing? or is it okey if you have a seeder that does cultivating aswell
man you are super. I was searching for short and explanatory video like this. everyone is makin 20 min video and I cant find what I look for. Subscribing
+abidin berkay glad you found it helpful

should I be doing this after every harvest?
yeah i like the video but what about the oil seed radish i use it before what you said in your video is that right to get maxium yield on the fields ?
You can plant it then once its grown you can cultivate it under for one stage of fertilization
How’s net gain to fertilization cost with 3 stages, compared to the old FS15 system, where you only fertilize once? With regards to usuing either fertilizer or sprayer, rather than your own free manure of course
Does yield mean the amount of crop u get from field or the amount of money u get from the crops when I sell them?
Amount of crop u get from a field.
For the first stage the straw would of been taken off the field before the feet is spread as the straw will stop it getting through.
so if you have periodic plowing off and only 1 stage of fertilization you will get lower yields?
Ultimately, yes
This is my sequence:
1-harvest
2-Fertilize (liquid, solid, manure, or slurry)
3- Plow if necessary, if not just cultivate
4-use seed drill with fertilizer
5-Use Weeder
6-repeat
Nice.
Quote "Fertilisation is only effective once per growing stage" /Quote
mucks he literally showed us it worked when he pulled the in game menu
There's one of two conditions in order for another level of fertilization to occur. Either the ground has to be worked, or, growing stage has to shift.
Do you need to plow again after harvest? Does fertilizer level 1 stay?
+Skrub Lord you can if you wish. It depends on how your fields are
Does using sprayers count also as stage one fertilize or just use a fertilizer spreader
Yes.
is it worth it plowing after every single harvest?
It's not necessary but if you get a big enough plough it will just seem like part of the process
The AI of the fertilizer worker is a pain in the ass, i prefer make the work for myself
there is 1 thing you just forget and you lost it, when you take the wheat and what you leave behind on the fields can you make haybailes from and it's another way to make money on short time
Hi, i watch your video and its really helpful like all your vids....In game HELP i read this....But remember that fertilization is only effective once per growh stage.
So did you test your way and this fertilizer per grow stage? Is it same?
Helped me a lot! i knew how to do everything except fertilize xD
+MattgregPlays glad I could help
Don't know if anybody mentioned this already, but you can seed right after the plow.
Indeed you can
How is which place you fueled the machine to fertilize?
+CLEITON JOSE GALLAS you have to buy pallets at the store on westbridge
Another way is to wait for the first grow cycle and use the weeder. They did put it in the game for a reason I would hope.
Haha yes they did it for a reason lol
yeah.. dont waste money and time on the 3 step.. change to 1 step in the settings.
I consider this cheating :-/
Like selecting simplified controls in Train Simulator, or turning on auto-rudder and auto-mixture in Flight Simulator :-/
Great vid again Iain , I learn something new every time I watch your vids ,
Glad to hear you learned something
I only have 1 fert. stage and periodic plowing on. Does it makes sance for me to plow and then fertilize once?
Does harvest stage(yellow to amber) affect amount of yield aswell?
Not as far as I know
Nice video!
Isn't it simple explained like this;
After every action, (harvesting, plowing, cultivating and sowing) fertilize?
It could be. Yes
Good job!
You forgot to mention the weeders though ;)
+Nataliya that will be another one
Nice tutorial. Thanks bro!
Got a Question, how do you use the 3 stage Fertilizer without plowing?
You could use the weeder instead > ua-cam.com/video/MK7aMoumgjw/v-deo.html
Thank you 👍🏼
So when I need to plough I'll do this but when I don't need to then I'll do this (I'll put lists here of the both ways and someone tell me if it's correct)
When I need to plough
1. after harvest fertilize
2. plough
3. fertilize
4. cultivate
5. seed with a fertilizing seeder
When I don't need to plough
1. fertilize after harvest
2. cultivate
3. seed with a fertilizing seeder
4. Fertilize on the first growth stage
Thank you Iain, helped me a lot!!
Glad I was able to help man
Isn't this just one way of getting max yield? "Between each fertilization either the soil must be worked (cultivated, plowed, sown etc.) or the plants have to grow at least one

5:Harvest.
Yeah it's just one option.
Thanks for the awesome video! Very helpful!🦌
Glad you found it helpful man
What's the keybind to turn on the fertilizer? Can't seem to figure it out.
Usually B
Awesome tutorials Iain thank you! :)
Glad I could help
Can i replace fertilizer with spray
that's was a lot to take in, thank you for tell us how to do that PS love your vidoes
Believe it or not, it is only one way you can do it lol
Excellent tutorial.
glad you found it helpful
I always fertilises on ever growth stage, isn't that right?
Jan Schakelaar yeah, me too. I thought that was the way to do it.
Jan Schakelaar that seems to be too often. Just check the fertilizing status (blue color) in the menu.
Jasper Stevens yes i know i do it till the color is dark blue other wise you will waste a lot of fertilizer
i dont fertilises any field :D
Thanks man . like
oooo i understand now. thanks man
Glad I could help
what dose the fertilizer do the te field?
It's usually animal poop which helps plant growth. Chemical sprayers also work but it's generally unhealthy!
how do you no your getting the full yield after doin all this plz
Hey man, isn't it just cheaper to buy a simple liquid fertilizer sprayer? You can just spray the fields as they grow and easily reach stage 3 fertilization. It requires less equipment.
It might be.
what about a video or explination with the periodic plowing off and 1 time fertilizing?
How do you fill up your fertilizer tank??
you can use the pallets of fertilizer
Very useful bro! Can you make a tutorial "How to plant and harvest poplar" ?
Great video!!
+Devin Henriques thanks
Can u create video how to feed pigs exactly, this video help me a lot. Thank you!
I'll see what I can do
How do you load the fertilizer into the machine tho?
+Darth Karnage you load it from pallets or buy point
Happy Halloween!!!
and to you too
Thanks, Iain.
+Quicksilver282 there may be a convert by someone but I sent think giants will.
Nice and very useful video :-)
Glad you found it helpful man
Oor, u can fertilize between every grow states...
Yep lots of options
what id power food for the cows
What about the Weeder step?
I'm going to make another one with the weeder in the cycle
TY.
hi
i think you forget the weed and the raddish. the first is free fertilation
You can do that but you would destroy crops and then it's not so free ( assuming you have that module )
But you're right there are other ways
***** That's a good point. However you need to get those tires then I suppose which isn't too bad
can you do a tutorial about the heating plant
The one on the map?
Also oilseed ratishes confuse allot of people it seems
+kylewil12plays seems to be the case
It confuses me that's for sure.

Weeders next?
Yep I am going to make a version of this with a seeder
+Iain Robson sounds good because me and my bro couldn't figure out what they do
Thank God I've been getting mad at this the whole time.
Glad I could help.
I make all of this, except in the last stage i use the weeders
Nice. That's definitely an option too
weird i get to stage 3 after 1 ferlilize
Why did du just play in €?
Thumbnail typo..
Jami Laari lol
Fixed :P
You're putting down too much fertiliser. Plowing is stage 2 fertilisation on your video not stage 1. You should plow, then seed with fertilising seeder then finally fertilise and that's all 3 stages done. If you put down more fertiliser than that it won't do anything to your crop yield
Thanks for the tip
This is nonsense
This is Sparta
Iain Robson I thought the fertilisation only worked once per growth stage ?
It's not like soil mod where you had to advance time. In fs17 it's based on the field state.
