- My favorite ride of the year so far! I've always wanted to give this trail a try and I finally got the perfect chance. Chunky rock, flow, granite slabs, and river crossings. If this trail had a jump section I might just bring a tent and stay for a week. As always, the gnar on this trail was no match for the Stumpjumper Evo. I highly recommend this ride if you're ever in the area but be sure to have trail forks handy for navigation.

The quality after YT rendered 2K and 4K is way better. It did look like before at first though. You can keep vids private or scheduled out until YT does it's thing and the early views won't be subjected to the low quality options only. It even looks better in 1080 now too because it uses the vp09 codec, which you can check by right clicking the video and picking the stats for nerds dropdown. All your old ones I bet will say avc.
Takes awhile to discover all the technical junk about how digital videos and memory effect quality. Basically the more pixels that change from frame to frame the more memory and rendering needed. YT tries to save space by crapping on these sections of vids.
Thanks for the tips! You’re helping me get better at this! I’ve been recording in 2.5k I think so I’m gonna start recording in 4k too and hopefully that levels it up too.
Went to 007 last week for the very first time and I love it but seeing your video in MJ right now is like I’m loving Bass lake even more. Btw, what is your GoPro settings if you don’t mind? Thanks

@@bainiboyfoodandadventure the camera settings are actually the same as all my other videos... 30fps, 2.5k, superview, raw. But rather than export in 1080p like usual I exported in 4k which I guess forces UA-cam to render the playback at a higher quality which is why it looks better. 🤷🏼♂️ I’m gonna start shooting in 4k and export with these same settings moving forward.

My kind of trail, maintained but fairly ungroomed. I guess it is Backcountry riding. A lot of labor climbing and with the trees, but it looks well worth the effort.
Hey Pete! Yeah man this that’s exactly what this trail was. It was rad to have some slower tech sections but then still get some speedy flow in others. I’ll bet one could really fly down this run after seeing it a few times!
@@ShreddingSpree I ride mostly techy hiking trails and every ride is a back country ride. I have been riding them for over 25 years, before bike specific trails become available. Manualing or j hoping over trees is a lost art in mtbing. More on the trials side, i guess. Modern trail riding is all about carrying speed and jumps on these machined trails. Not a big fan, but I understand that not everyone is an all mountain grinder anymore. Slack head angles and low bottom brackets don't mix well with downed trees. Nevertheless, the trees were not rideable after the storm in your vid. They should leave a few 1-2 footers across the trail, if they are not on fast sections. Just an opinion.
@@petedog9581 I hear what you’re saying but honestly, I think it’s easy to feel like the MTB industry is going toward the speedy flow side of things based on what you see the pros doing online but that’s just a tiny fraction of what’s actually happening out there. It’s just more entertaining to see guys hauling ass and doing jumps rather than negotiating lower speed trails unless it’s some extreme trials stuff. The anti- low BB and slack hta argument is really based on what the terrain is like in your area. Only about 1-2% of my riding is doing park laps on machine cut trails which means 98% of my rides are actually on hand-cut, natural trails and the current modern geo bike is still more stable and capable for my riding style on that stuff. I do agree that it’s easier to bunnyhop things on a shorter wheelbase bike (and a fully rigid bike for that matter) but I’ll take that compromise to get the stability on the rest of the trail.
