Yes I have paid taxes in this country for nearly 6 decades, and the retirement I received is less than I made when I worked, even worked overseas, working for the military making sure that our soldiers were properly fed, and all I got was certificate of appreciations.

Maybe property taxes shouldn't apply to the owners of an old house until after the owner sells it. If a property rises from $75K to ten-fold, the last property tax before the announcement is what the owner must pay. Only sale proceeds are to be taxed, and even then only at the standard county-wide prop tax rate.
