I have a whisker biscuit arrow rest on my 2015 Hoyt Carbon Spyder 30" & I absolutely love it! You pop your arrow shaft into it, & you don't have to think about it again, because it does its job that well! I just started shooting the Easton FMJ carbon arrows, & it shoots so smooth, you can hardly tell it went off!
I'm a fairly new hunter. Began in 2014. Only 2 deer under my belt so far with rifle. (Both taken from one of THEE lowest success rate zones in the state of CA btw, D15) First in 2015 and this year on day 2 of the season in 2016. Both were in the 30-40yds range. I have to say... since I also desire to take one with bow... I've been considering changing over to a whisker biscuit. The rest that comes stock on the Blackout SS Compound bow I bought has 3 brushes that converge together on 3 arms in a "Y" shape... and this makes it necessary to be sure that you knock your arrow a certain way so that the vanes travel thru the open spaces in-between those "Y" arms. Otherwise it wants to tear-off the vanes. This mandates that you take the time ahead of time to first of all ensure that you've rotated your knocks to a certain orientation within the shaft... so you can just look at the shaft and make sure the colored vane is pointing upward... AND... more importantly... this mandates that when you're knocking your arrow you HAVE to make sure that one particular vanes is pointing upward... otherwise you're about to hurl all 3 vanes at those "Y" arms. I don't know about you all, but for myself, I'd really rather not have to worry about such things in the heat of the moment. And with my bow supposedly doing something like 330-340fps (and whoo lawdy I believe it!) I'm fine with losing a few fps if it means it will securely hold the arrow where it's supposed to be for when the moment comes... and I don't have to pay special attention when knocking an arrow. Just grab it and put it in. Just my $.02. Do people seriously pull that hater bro shit on other people who happen to sport the Whisker Biscuit? If so, that's so D-Bag and lame.
This is a great video, I get so tired of guys hating on other people's choice of gear. Have some self esteem and use what you think works best for you, not what some dude selling stuff thinks you should use. Way to go!
I like my whisker biscuit just fine. I will try adding some glue to fletching to stop the wear from going through the biscuit, but not much can go wrong with it and I’ve not had any noise problems either
Just went back to one. Shot TM hunter style rests when I started in the 90’s. Then switched to a biscuit aroun ‘08. Got my 1st high performance bow last year. Couldn’t decide which dropaway I wanted so I went back to the old prong rest. Decided to get a QAD HDX and my buddy got one right before I did and had issues with it and I’m sure it’ll get sorted out but just not worth it. I’ll stick another biscuit on. They’re like a toothbrush, even once worn out if the bristles are still on it’s still usable. Won’t work great but will still work, if a drop away is worn out it’s done.
Thanks for the video Zac! I agree 100%, but I'm using Easton FMJ's with 2" Blazer vanes with only a 3 degree helical, and have had no problems at all. Thanks also for posting links along with your video, much appreciated 👍
I am a little late in the hunting game (25 years old) I just bought my first bow about a week ago and it has a whisker biscuit on it. My buddies told me it was junk and to switch it out. I have a PSE bow. PSE has a good name in bows and I just didn't feel like they would put junk on there bows. Did some searching and found out they are actually great rest and are accurate. So I am going to be keeping it.
I know this video is old. But still true. Drop aways are good, however, they become a timed item that I have seen have issues in the field. I love the simplicity of my whisker bisket.
My grampa used a whisker biscuit when they first came out in the mountains of nc he said one of the locals he hunted with would put a very very small amount of vasoline on a q tip and would rub it up and down on both sides of the whisker biscuit and it would keep moisture and snow out of the whisker biscuit I mostly sweat when I hunt where I am at but that's just some second hand tip for ya!
I know I'm 9 months late with this comment, but 10 yrs and the same biscuit is all I use. Have had friend lose arrows from drop aways and fuq up a shot on hunt. The only thing with a biscuit is aluminum makes a slight screech, bot I actually put a wipe of silicone spray on the arrows and poof no noise. Yeah, I know 2317 super slams and 125 gr. Tips, but I like to hear that thump. Great audio by the way. Maybe a little silicone spray on the mic. Lol
Julio Rivera pay attention to your form because that's where a wb will get ya. alil torque n your arrow go's pinging thro the woods. I do use a wb & tuning is a breeze.
Julio Rivera also I'm guessing your new to archery so prolly should check out a youtuber named kenny parson if your trying to get your bow setup n tuned at home . Hope that helps
Timothy Rose funny thing is I'm not new to archery I've just never used a wb. didn't know exactly what entailed using one but thank you for your help i really appreciate it
Yeah im with you. My $250 qad crapped out on me in remote Australia and lucky my mate had a Trophy ridge kill shot spare in his pack so i put it on tuned and set it up all in 30 minutes. And im loving it best fool proof rest ive ever used. Went and bought 2 1 for spare in my pack.
Always seems like people forget a rest that supports the side of the arrow allows you the option to shoot with your fingers consistently. Anyone who has tried to get a consistent finger release using a drop away or similar non side supporting rest will know what I am talking about. Whisker biscuit let's me shoot with a release or fingers.
I got out of bow hunting about the same time the drop away rest came to market. Now getting back in and seeing that there are only 2 choices . Fall away and whisker rests is amazing to me. I hated the gen 1 Whiskers and I am not wild about losing speed even if it is a few feet per second but I also hate the idea of more moving crap on my bow. is the fancy style as bad at losing speed with the v shaped hole in the middle?
Awesome video! I'll be switching back to a WB soon because spot and stalk and quick draw don't work at times, with a WB fast draw back and arrow stays put!
5 elk, 5 years. WBs work for me. Plus, I don't have extra junk to snag on dark timber where I like to go. I also like that I can nock an arrow, make a call, and be ready without a lot of arrow clattering. Maybe accuracy suffers at distance, but I've never killed an elk beyond about 15 yds and I don't need to win any matches other than me vs elk.
Great Video Zac, it's all about having confidence in your equipment, It's not about weather or not someone else likes the way you set it up. If your not confident how the heck are you going to execute, at the moment of truth. you have to go with what works for you. I use a drop away arrow rest, my buddy uses a wb , we practice on a tic tac toe; target and we are about 50/50 @ 50 yrds.
I have WB on all of my compounds and after two year they are still there and what is even better they are easy to tune and no i didnt loose one vane with these cookies :) Cheer
Killed deer at 15 yrds with whisker biscuit. there was no wind, it was super quite and i got busted due to the sound of the arrow drawing back on biscuit. i dont have any experience with other rests but i imagine they all make some sort of sound. doe didnt stand a chance of jumping the arrow at 15 yrds so i guess it doesn't really matter.
I am interested in trying a 4-fletch w/ the whisper biscuit. What helical do you use? Is your 4 fletch an even 90-90-90-90? Also, what jig do you use to 4-fletch? Thanks.
I hunt with 2 Mathews bows. One with a trophy Taker drop away and the other with a whisker biscuit. The Biscuit is what I take on my back country and stalker hunts. The Drop away is my blind bow.
I shoot both QAD and a Whisker.. The Whisker is what I trust in the woods. My QAD is for 3D, I rarely hunt with one.. Can't beat the Biscuit for hunting.
Most of the clowns that don't do their research buy into the hype of these drop away. To each their own but a whisker biscuit is where its at. Especially for the people that hunt away from the road..
honestly thinkn of switching to a wb. i use a qad pro somethin. as much as i shoot the mole skin like stuff on the fork part of the guide wears down fairly quickly and causes me to re adjust my sight very slightly then when i slap on a new one i have arrows shooting high....
Thanks for the tips. I'm like you and do a lot of spot and stalk and have recently had nothing but problems with my drop away and reliability. Nothing against drop aways they just don't suit my hunting style. I am going back to a whisker biscuit. What do you use for an offset on your vanes? Or are they 0 degrees and straight?
+ZAC GRIFFITH Awesome Thanks. Do you bother paper tuning and if so do you have trouble getting it perfect? I cant seem to get anything but nock high no mattter what I do.
I shoot a PSE DNA SP and people ask me why I have such an inexpensive "crappy rest'' on an expensive bow. My response, It works for me, I like the capture part and with the way I hunt and I don't have to fiddle with my arrow coming off the rest.
I shoot a whisker biscuit... I'm not as good as i should be, but that's ny own fault for not practicing alot more, can't blame solid equipment for poor mechanics that alot of people have. Whisker is the way to go when you run and gun
Yeah but.... they still suck lol. Not to mention they're absolutely HEINOUS aesthetically. As for the benefits you mentioned at the beginning? There's drop away/fall away rests that are full capture. One that's especially great is the Schaffer XV. You can lock it in the "ready fire" position, which locks your arrow in place until it's drawn and released. Until then though, your arrow doesn't move AT ALL. Even if it comes off your bowstring, that shit ain't going anywhere, period. Rock solid design. Besides, most drop away rests don't even have any "moving" parts as you say. They're incredibly simplistic and I've never actually had one malfunction to any manner of mechanical/component failure.
It is called a tight spot. I have one on my bow, it is awesome. It pulls your quiver in a lot closer than normal, has a quick release, and screw adjustable tension for the arrows.

Do you still shoot a whisker biscuit on ALL your bows? I've seen the bows you shoot and they aren't cheap. Some of the most efficient bows ever made. I know the whisker biscuit is costing you in accuracy at long range. A drop away will extend your furthest kill distance. As you know being able to push your comfortable kill range further, will increase your chance of success. I've got two kills past 90. But I wouldn't ever of even tried w a whisker. Good video just food for thought.

I shoot 3 inch feathers with a 2* offset through my biscuit, and have zero issues. IMO, the biscuit performs best with feathers.
Thank you Zac.
I like my whisker biscuit just fine. I will try adding some glue to fletching to stop the wear from going through the biscuit, but not much can go wrong with it and I’ve not had any noise problems either

I'm in the same boat. I shoot a whisker biscuit and it's very consistent at all ranges.
Thanks for the video Zac! I agree 100%, but I'm using Easton FMJ's with 2" Blazer vanes with only a 3 degree helical, and have had no problems at all. Thanks also for posting links along with your video, much appreciated 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
What size biscuit for a standard GT 300 hunter?
I am a little late in the hunting game (25 years old) I just bought my first bow about a week ago and it has a whisker biscuit on it. My buddies told me it was junk and to switch it out. I have a PSE bow. PSE has a good name in bows and I just didn't feel like they would put junk on there bows. Did some searching and found out they are actually great rest and are accurate. What bow is that?
he shoots it for a reason. nothings more precise
Any tips on how to quiet a whisker biscuit? My gold tip arrows make a lot of noise when being drawn over the whiskers.
I know this video is old. But still true. Drop aways are good, however, they become a timed item that I have seen have issues in the field. I love the simplicity of my whisker bisket.
How much difference would it make shooting longer vanes????
Lol
Nice wind
Went from a WB to a QAD HDX a couple years ago. Never going back.
Fifty0ne Neat!
Bro! I can't hear anything you just said!
I know this is an old video but is there reason you do no helical offset
ChristSideUrbanStreetMinistry I do a small 1-2 degree.
Biscuit is for the more rugged and mobile shooter
I shoot a whisker biscuit and aluminium arrows!!
Would blazer work well with it too?
how many lbs per second would you loose with 3 degree helix?
Dakine I have a 1 degree and I wouldn't recommend more than that
Great review ,no bs to the point you just got a new sub!
can you show me how to properly use a whisker I've never used one. id really like to know how to shoot usin one
Julio Rivera pay attention to your form because that's where a wb will get ya. alil torque n your arrow go's pinging thro the woods. I do use a wb & tuning is a breeze.
Timothy Rose thank you for responding.. is there a specific way my arrow should sit on my rest?
Julio Rivera always use it with your odd feather or vein up.
Julio Rivera also I'm guessing your new to archery so prolly should check out a youtuber named kenny parson if your trying to get your bow setup n tuned at home . Hope that helps
Timothy Rose funny thing is I'm not new to archery I've just never used a wb. didn't know exactly what entailed using one but thank you for your help i really appreciate it
Did u ever use 3 flesh and could u tell a differents
Yeah im with you. My $250 qad crapped out on me in remote Australia and lucky my mate had a

its minimal even at long ranges. I've seen people group at 100 yards with biscuits fine.
Wow that is a lot of adjustments up, down, left, right

I have WB on all of my compounds and after two year they are still there and what is even better they are easy to tune and no i didnt loose one vane with these cookies :)

What size biscuit do you use for your victory vap arrows? Thanks
I am interested in trying a 4-fletch w/ the whisper biscuit. What helical do you use? Is your 4 fletch an even 90-90-90-90? Also, what jig do you use to 4-fletch? Thanks.
Yes, 90x4 and we get away with 1-3 degrees offset.
+ZAC GRIFFITH what kind of vanes are in the video? looks like some sort of aae but what model?
All of the most successful bow hunters that I've known used the most simple gear, whether a recurve or compound bow.
I hunt with 2 Mathews bows. One with a trophy Taker drop away and the other with a whisker biscuit. The Biscuit is what I take on my back country and stalker hunts. The Drop away is my blind bow.
What is the camo you have?
ASAT camo
I feel like every video from Zack is a comment pissing match. It's like swimming in a pool of piss and using the pool noodles as aquatic blow guns.
I shoot both QAD and a Whisker.. The Whisker is what I trust in the woods. My QAD is for 3D, I rarely hunt with one.. Can't beat the Biscuit for hunting.
Really!.............interesting.
Most of the clowns that don't do their research buy into the hype of these drop away. To each their own but a whisker biscuit is where its at. Especially for the people that hunt away from the road..
If hunting whiskerbiscuit every time.
honestly thinkn of switching to a wb. i use a qad pro somethin. as much as i shoot the mole skin like stuff on the fork part of the guide wears down fairly quickly and causes me to re adjust my sight very slightly then when i slap on a new one i have arrows shooting high....
would you mind sharing the name of that second song?
did he say what vane that was?
Hi, who did the asat pattern on your bow/quiver in this video? Thanks
WIND noise
FINALLY and hopefully most people now won't so negatively ignorant towards other people's gears. Awsum yt.
nice. vid.. nice music...
Thanks for the info man. Couldn't agree more on the WB
I happen to call my whisker biscuit a whiskey beaver today... It was so natural to?
Biscuit is my hunting choice in harsh Finnish enviroment.
Which bow is that? Good video by the way.
Thanks man. ZAC GRIFFITH MATHEWS Monster Safari
This video proves the Whisker Biscuit works in gale force winds. Ha ha ha!
I heard about 3 words. The wind was nice though.
cool video does shaving your arms help you shoot bro
David Smith Not really but for a guy that still lives with his parents you ought to give it a whirl. It may help you meet real girls.
haha good video wished the audio was better just a little internet hate
David Smith Its welcome and expected around here. Tell your mom thanks for letting you stay up late.
will do shes a nice lady
Lady's Relax.. . ..But seriously... . Zac do u shave your arms 😭😂😭
Maybe 1 degree tops.
Zach do u have tuning issues with a four fletch through your WB?great video btw
bowhuntr0 0 not at all man! Micros no helical fly great!!
what brand of release are you using in the video? I'm looking for one similar.
VARIABLES! My favorite word in a dictionary!
don't get me wrong the world. is the way to go...
but u say u use it because u don't like moving parts but u a using a adjustable sight? wth.
Sorry what?
Wow you could almost hear what you were saying.
nic wow you took the time out of your busy schedule to state the obvious of a 3-year old video. Thank for the view and comment!
Awe someone got their feelings hurt.
nic far from it! UA-cam paid me $0.0012 for your view! Go watch all of my videos and leave more unsolicited comments to help pad my analytics!
Look out you are well on your way to living the high life
😂 made my day!
I thought a Whisker Biscuit was a female body part.
OMG that is so dang funny rite dare!
I do 2 brother and I Love it 👍
You got a whole outfit to match your bow? That's cute....
Dan Cottrell actually I got a whole bow to match my outfit. Thanks for the view dog.
Haha you got some cool vids. I recently bought and elite impulse 34 and I put a whisker biscuit on it.
simple is always best! biskitts rule..👍
What kind of quiver was that?
It is called a tight spot. I have one on my bow, it is awesome. It pulls your quiver in a lot closer than normal, has a quick release, and screw adjustable tension for the arrows.
ahhh , the human psyche: not liking moving parts but shooting a compound bow.
Ahhhh, the human psyche: Hyper-analyze a single clip video shot 2 years ago by taking one line out of context. "Eliminate" as many variables as possible. I'm not cool enough to shoot trad yet. I can't kill stuff with a carbon compound. Let me know when you think I'm ready.
WB Long live the king!
Godamn! Could you reshoot this video indoors maybe?
LOVE THE BISCUIT!!!ON MY DRENILIN
Do you still shoot a whisker biscuit on ALL your bows? I've seen the bows you shoot and they aren't cheap. Some of the most efficient bows ever made. I know the whisker biscuit is costing you in accuracy at long range. A drop away will extend your furthest kill distance. As you know being able to push your comfortable kill range further, will increase your chance of success. I've got two kills past 90. But I wouldn't ever of even tried w a whisker. Good video just food for thought.
D.I.Y. OUTDOOR PRODUCTIONS wow 90 yards they have videos of a wb being consistent at 100 yards or more like pigman says wake up... LOL
yea I've had some of my buddies hit groups easily at 100+ yards with Wb's
dont hate the wisker buisket #theyaregood
I didnt know 5/9ths of an inch was a measurement. lol
Apparently 6 years ago when I made the video I didn’t either.
Lol! Why not just get one with a remote control?
What?
Way too much wind can't hear what you're saying really most of the video
Good information and video quality. HORRIBLE audio.
You shoot a what?
I am kind of on the Cameron Hanes program. The only difference is that I use a Hamskea Versa Rest instead of the Smack down Pro, but still the same concept.
H
that audio "doe" get it cuz it has to do with hunting and a doe is a female deer which you can do.
Sorry bro but you lost me at running with a knocked arrow. I bet you smoke cigarettes while pumping gas too!
Todd Beissel 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Todd Beissel if youve never ran with nocked arrow then youre no bow hunter.
Nebula Ultra. Based on your liked videos Neither are you.
Cat got your tongue. Or are ya too busy watching feminist videos
lol zac you are so butt hurt by these comments
Noise spoiled it , too hard to listen to sorry not watched
Awesome video! I'll be switching back to a WB soon because spot and stalk and quick draw don't work at times, with a WB fast draw back and arrow stays put!
