Phillip Pruit's 1979 Mazda RX7: "Just like my Dad's"
Вставка

- All of you that are fortunate enough to share the same automotive appreciation with their father can relate to Phillip's journey with his 1979 Mazda Rx7. I met Phillip many years ago when he owned his FD Rx7. But as far as I can remember he always talked about building a 1st Gen Rx7 just like his dad's.

Beautiful..I drive my 79 rx7 with a big smile everywhere
man your dads reaction priceless!! literally made me cry my g!
✊🏾
I still have my 1980 Rx7, I bought it 2 months after my 1973 240z Datsun was totaled out. I bought thr Rx7 because it styling reminded me of my 240z. Now, I am in search of a 240z, but keeping my original Mazda...!
I got one in 1984. I still have it 2020
This is what's it's all about. Great video! The expression on your dad's face, that moment will never be forgotten
Thanks man.
My 1st RX-7 was a '79
I loved it!
Miss my '79 rx7 best car I ever owned!
What a great story!
Sick car man, love those awesome LL Cool J style tunes too!
Mad respect from Australia👍👍👍👍
Underrated channel
Wow so amazing this story! ✊🏽✊🏽💯💯💯
I have an 89. The car will literally last you a few life times
Only men truely understand this feel.
Heart touching story . . Thanks .
Dude.. i was literally talking to my boy last night about wanting a hotrod yellow 79 rx7 on gold epsilons or bbs mesh wheels and literally the next day i find your video.. i just shared the video with him and he calls me like YOOOOOOO..... it’s a sign..
bro did you get 1? I'm thinking about building something similar rn
@@nameberry220 yea i have a 79 SA22C. 12A streetport with a 5 speed, i got the ac working too, it’s a fun little car but burns gas like a v8 so it’s basically my weekend warrior 😂
@@mikecorleone6797 Thats cool man, wow the one I am looking at is a 79 also with a 12a and a 5 speed, looks stock but high milage. I just need to save some more
@@nameberry220 dude.. you will not regret it if you take the proper steps and keep up on proper maintenance. Word of advice *do not use synthetic oils in it and do not rely on the oil metering pump* to keep your apex seals lubricated.. always add half an ounce of 2 stroke oil per gallon at fill up for extra insurance.. 12a engine parts are getting scarce and you do not want to have to go on a legit side quest to narnia trying to find 12a housings or rotors.. also depending on your state you should really take off the stock exhaust because it fails and will blow your engine.. go aftermarket with a good free flowing turbo style exhaust. Rotaries do not like back pressure
Very likeable fella, handsome too.
Seeing his dad come alive was great, hope the car serves them well.
I love my 85 RX-7 GSL-SE 🥰
The look on his face when he first revved it... and just how quickly he said goodbye was even funnier!!
That is great! I am in GA too, Atlanta area. My dad just got a red 1985 GSL-SE.
What an awesome story, I love these cars I bet it was so ahead of its time when it came out.
Thanks for sharing! Brings back memories for myself as well. Back in 88', my girlfriend at the time had got a very low mileage used 85 Rx7 for graduation. The first time I started it, my life changed forever. Nothing on earth like a rotary engine! Bought my first Rx7 in 90, an 87 Turbo2. My second Rx7 was a 93, and I still have both to this day. I came across this vid because Im looking for an early 80s Rx7 to add to the collection. I love love love the yellow, Ive only seen a couple in photos, never on the street. As far as appreciating cars with a Father - Ive always shared that, but back in the 80s my father couldnt see why his son would be seduced by a 'rice burner'. After he drove my first Rx - He immediately understood.
My dad had a Mazdaspeed 6 when i was growing up and he sold it just as i was getting into cars. Years later i now own almost the exact same speed six. His had leather and a sunroof while mine has cloth seats and no sunroof. Its cool seeing him passionate about my car.
Keep the content coming!
Dude, that is the most heartwarming story. Best kinda carguy story you can find.
I'm at work watching this and someone just started chopping some onions in here!
Thank you we appreciate that!
What a touching story!
My first RX7 was just like this except totally stock. Bought it "sight unseen" (just an ad in Time) in fall of 1978.
Have my 4th one out in the garage and drive it on weekends. Great cars!
I had this car in 1979 brand new, in yellow. You get the R's up over 2500, the second 2 barrels on the carb open up, and you basically leave our space/time continuum. I wish I had kept that car!!! I sold it because I kept getting speeding tickets. Ha!
My first Rx-7 was a spitting image of that car. Corvette yellow with a tan/brown interior. Drove that thing daily for a couple years after I graduated. I built a replica model of it last year. Lots of memories with that car. I owned 2 more several years later, an 82 and an 83. The 83 had a JDM motor in it and was pretty quick. Fun cars but a pain to maintain all the time.
Great great story thank you for sharing. I also am a Mazda RX-7 I had a 1981 gsl candy apple red..God bless.
Great story, great video and what a beautiful car. 👍🏻👍🏻

Wow what a great video. The best part is definitely the story but seeing your dad at the end of the video definitely is amazing. Hope to see more videos. And yes of course I own a 1979 Mazda rx7 original color sunset red I believe. Black interior no moon roof. Wish I knew more about it. Always looking for parts too.

Actually rear seats were a factory option just extremely rare. They were basically for baby seats as you couldn't even fit a toddler back there hardly lol! Great story and beautiful first gen!
nj!!! 908..i had 3 1987 rx7 turbo2'z and my bro had the 1988 rx7 turbo anniversary edition..i miss them days
SA22 ...wawawewa......ohhhhh i miss mine, i was young and broke, live in an expensive city, lived in a building and couldn't afford to park it and eventually had to send it to the dump as no one wanted to buy a rotary
I'm jealous, I've been looking for rear seats for my 1983 RX7 for almost a year now and I can't find them anywhere
Nice rx7 what is the brand of the wheels and spec please
Epsilon wheels. 15x8. +10 offset. 205/50 tires.
The tiny wheels with the spokes😂
Amo esa joya desde que tenía 15 años... Soy BABY BOOMERS
BTW, the wheels & tires are awesome. What the sizes?
Thanks! 15x8 +10. 205/50s
@@TheRotorious13b thanks in return
What exhaust system do u have on there
Stock '85 manifold, custom center section, with aftermarket catalytic converter/pre-silencer, and stock GSL-SE muffler.
hello. can you tell me the sizes of the wheel and tire setup you have. are the rims 15x7 or 15x8? tires size and do they rub, had to roll fenders etc. thanks.
Hi. The wheels are 15x8, +8 offset. Tires are 205/50s. I did roll the fenders after lowering it, on coilovers.
What size rims and tires are they?
15x8 +10 205/50
what are the wheels and specs on at 5:50 time ????
Those are Rota Shakotans. 15x8 +10 offset.
Wish they would have asked his dad, why he decided to go with an RX-7, im sure the rotary was an odd thing back then, even more so than now.
It was certainly different, but by that time it had been around for several years in the Rx-2, 3, &5. It had a reputation for being a fun and peppy engine, with the main issue being oil consumption. When my mom was in the market for a new sports car, he started reading about the upcoming RX7, and everything he read about it was positive. They loved the look of it and it just made sense, so they ordered hers and fell in love with it. The rest is history, lol.
I mean, that was beautiful and all, and I almost cried, but why does it sound like an old diesel? 😅
Love rotaries, unfortunately at 6'4" most cars they come in don't love me.
swap time?
👍 real nice RX7 like new 💪, love this car. I have one silver 79 all original in Florida.
