I've done a wheelie in an 8x4 Volvo FH13 540. Although I started in an uphill and I had a quite heavy "sprider" machine hooked on the back of the asphalt tub and I had about 5 tons of asphalt left in the tub, and all of it in the back because I had already tipped with it and it doesn't flow forward again.
The first is the Volvo blue truck is great and certainly the driver is great, the first is always in the foreground, the old one is like gold, gentlemen👍🏻
Holy shit first pull is a full pull, love these beast of machines tearing up the sled all the way down the track. Keep on keeping on brother or sister.
That was some extremely GOOD pulling!! Was it my imagination or did I actually hear a couple truck down shift as they were pulling? If so that is something new to me having never even heard of that before??
@Uki Saiman hey, you are taking this too serious, making me laugh even more... and btw those industry dumps are not even close to volcanic activities all over the world so maybe we already should start thinking of funding a global anti-volcanic campaign?
As far as I'm figuring, almost all those rigs were V-8's. Amazing how much torque they have especially pulled almost down to idle. No wonder we don't have any now. Too efficient.
Not all - the first one that pulled it nearly off the track was a straight 6 D12 Volvo FH. All the D A F's are also 6 cylinders, all the SCANIAS are V8's though.
@@garethifan1034 The first was a Volvo D16, a 16.1L I6, the second most powerful truck engine series in any commercial truck. It goes up to 750hp, only beaten by the Scania DC16. A 16.4L V8 that has up to 770hp.
@@GeenIdee2 I don't think any European truck brands even use more than 8 cylinders. Biggest we have over here, that are still made, is the Scania DC16. 16.4L V8. Second biggest is Volvo D16. 16.1L I6.

Deve ser uma sensação muito boa ver esses caminhões de perto. Se eu fosse um dos pilotos, ficaria com medo desses caminhões "cara chata", porque o piloo fica, literalmente, em cima do motor...
I think the teams reinforce the chassis. I see engines go very quickly all the time. Not to much in the trucks, but the Supersport and Open Class Tractors go bang all the time
Many of these trucks have an advantage because that angled chain serves to both pull the wheels into the dirt, enhancing traction, and to pull the sled’s blade up off the ground, preventing it from digging in as fully as it might.
Alright so basically there is a weight that is on the sled and as it moves up near the truck the weight makes the sled dig into the ground mainly because if there was a front axle on these pulling sleds it would be way to easy for vehicles to pull hell if you had a front axle on it a Prius could pull it not well but it could
I remember in the 321 as a kid my dad use to be the one who' smooth out the track after every pull there was a man name Lafferty who own Lafferty eggs I believe had a beast even pull it out the stadium one time
i find this very interesting,im used to american twin screw axles with 8 tires digging in.this is even more impressive with single drive axle.even though the rear tires are much more agressive than used in america.very impressive.i pity those u joints.the loads on them are unimaginably high.
I think our single axles can take about the same load as American doubles. Highest legal weight on a single driving axle (at least in Sweden) is 11.5 tons. I used to haul asphalt with an 8x4 Volvo FH 540 and a 3-axle (one in front and 2 in back) trailer with long drawbar. 8 tons on the front axle, 24 tons on the triple in the back of the truck, 10 tons on the front axle of the trailer and 20 tons on the bogie in the back of the trailer. Truck: 32 tons, Trailer: 30 tons, Total: 62 tons on 24 wheels divided between 7 axles

Nice video, just too bad theres no distances or names or weights shown. 😔
That's because it gets heavier as it goes. The further you pull, the heavier it gets because the sled digs down into the dirt.
In the dutch competitions (like this one) the full pull distance in the heats is 110m then in the final its however long you can pull it for
How long do the trucks usually last? Before the frame is bent or engine blown?
