Images recorded in north east of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (within municipality of Coxim) on 15th December 2020, during the wet season for this region.
Visibility and light was vastly reduced due to the rainclouds above and sediment and debris entering the water after each storm.
Images recorded using an Olympus TG5 Tough camera (good in high light, terrible in any form of shade), using a Backscatter PT058 housing and Backscatter M52 Wide-angle wet lens. I also used a simple LED lamp mounted onto the housing to illuminate subjects in the murky/dark water.
Music created by Stephanie Deseveux.
As wonderful as the video is, the voice over is poetic and soothing. Well Done!
Currently researching these habitats before I set up an Apistogramma tank. Thank you for sharing your adventure. This has given me many ideas for how to replicate the environment as best as possible.
The filmography is amazing, and your narration is fit to be a standalone prose
Hi, thank you for your very generous message! I'm not 'David Attenborough' yet, but who knows, one day! :p
Every aquarist's dream: swimming with your favorite fish in the natural environment
These videos are amazing. And the commentary just adds to the awesomeness. Detailed and almost poetic.
Thank you for your kind and supportive message Sanel! :)
Incredible presentation 👍 It makes me realise that the aquarium hobby only touches a fraction of the available fish out there... some of those pictured could be stunning additions to the hobby.
Beautiful video ,thank you ,from Rhineland Germany .
Thank you, absolutely beautiful. Nice to see my favorite tetra (too!) in their natural habitat
Great channel! Interesting video about water habitats and aquatic animals! Thank you for the video and for the detailed information! Keep it up!!!
Rivals anything I've seen on Television!
Thank you for such a classy, interesting and fun video.
your work and eye for details is just amazing.. where the hell where you ?? LOL.. this is amazing content.. and under 500 views? man, this is what we have been looking for ..
Muito bom trabalho.. um mestre
I really also would love to see Paracheirodon innesi in the wild...

Brilliant! Black neons are one of my favourites...
Hi Andy! I have several other videos on my account with habitats of Black Neons, I hope they may be interesting to you :)
I'll have a look. Great work by the way, thanks.
I've found it surprisingly hard to find footage of aquarium fish in their natural habitats, and stumbling over your channel was a stroke of luck. Thank you for sharing these lovely videos and including so much information! :) One thing in this particular video gives me pause, however - near the end you describe how you and your friends force fish out of hiding by probing with sticks. This seems a little at odds with your code, being "Give the creature space; never harry, never chase"..?
Cool video! Thanks for sharing.
Oh man, the narration is simply amazing!! Great great videos!
Thank you for your kind message!
Brilliant, well done. I want to be there with you but alas I never will.🐠
Thank you, thank you, thank you! The video and narration are both wonderful!
Super video ☺👍👍👍
Even though the waters aren't perfect, to me the South American fish are the most interesting.
A feiend shared this a day before i completed my new set up, so glad i got to watch, a massive influence on my finishing touches, great video, thanks mate 🤘

Why is this not on Nat Geo TV? They're missing out on a great thing!
Hehe you're very generous, but who knows maybe one day!
Wow👍
Amazing video! loved it. Wonder what was pH and temperature of that stream?
Hey, thank you! We didn't have kit to take measurements I'm afraid but given the amount of organic material in there I think it was pretty acidic, temperate would have been around 28C as outside temp was closer to 34C. Sometimes it's much hotter but due to the rainstorms those days were cooler :)
@@biotopia5319 Thanks! It means H.herbertaxelrodi can live in very warm temperatures in the wild. Very useful info
Explore more!
Time and money permitting, I hope I will Devon :)
Excelent!!!
Thanks Tai

Does this forest stream have a name? What river does it flow into?
Hi, it doesn't have a name :)
@@biotopia5319 Greetings to you! Understood. So, nameless creek!? And what river does this nameless stream flow into?
@@biotopia5319 Tell me this Creek flows through the plateau of Bodoquena or is it the Pantanal area?
@@СветочДхармы hi, no this much further to the north east on the other side of the state, it forms part of the Coxim/Taquari river basin
@@biotopia5319 Thank you for the information about the biotope! So it is even more interesting, since those places I have not met a special video of biotopes!
