Plus the secret garden that reduces your hand grip to normal? Before fighting the last boss, make 2 save files. Your normal file and the challenge file. On the challenge file go to the secret garden and eat enough fruit to bring your hp and grip to almost normal. In case your not sure what the normal bar looks like, quickly start a new game to see where it begins. Reason for this is because you might need just enough hp and grip to kill the last boss. I did it as if eating one more fruit, would bring me back to full default. After that save the game before fighting the boss on the challenge file. Warning once you fight with him be ready to die in simple one shots with his blast attack. Rest alot in between claims and yes its possible to kill him like this. Now I'm sure your asking if I did it to the very end to see if its true. Sadly after literally 80 tries I finally got to the part with the soldiers. It's pretty sad when you come to think most of these creatures are actually helpless against wander and that most of the times they attack out of pure fear. When you reach Malus' feet the background music makes so much sense, it's almost as if you're about to murder a helpless animal who's only defense is shaking their head in panic and fear of death :(
One of my favorite gaming experiences. I felt like a part of me died at least 18 times playing this masterpiece. Hail to the great team ICO... Thank you...
I respect Wander. Sure his devotion to Mono is questionable, but I admire his determination, courage, questioning of morality and ethics, and his smarts. If only there was a more clear cut happy ending for him.
He wasn't even a warrior to begin with and still manage to kill giants entirely by himself 16 times in a row with just a horse, a bow and a sword... The man certainly deserves some respect... Also we don't know many things about the lore for what was implied by Lord emon at the end wander could grow up and make up for his sins for a new adventure but that's just me, the door is open for that...
Finaaaaaally, I knew I'd heard the piece of music "swift horse" in this game somewhere, it was really bugging me. It plays during the unlocking bonus material screen, post-credits, and only ever after your first playthrough, after that you never hear it again.
Am I the only one that thinks it's odd that Malus was the only colossus to keep his shape after being slain instead of turning into a pile of dust and sand
I don't believe Dormin is actually evil. He kept his promise to revive the girl, warned Wander that the cost would be large, and even said it only "borrowed" Wander's body, not took it. The only other words coming out from him is "Thou severed our body into sixteen segments for an eternity in order to seal away our power". He might just be an ancient ruler or primordial spirit or something.
When I was a kid, I COULDNT READ! I was maybe 5 when I had mistaken Jak and Daxter and Shadow of the Colossus for a Zelda title. As much as I wanted a Zelda game I wasn't disappointed to say the least.
Well... Now monos revived... And completely stuck in forbidden land with a horse with a broken leg and a demon baby... Not how I'd want to spend my saturdays but you do you
Honestly, people saying “at least Dormin kept his word”, ah yes, she’s alive! In a hellscape with no food, nothing to hunt apart from newts, unsafe water, no way to escape unless she gets proficient with rock climbing and makes some sort of climbing hook, and all while trying to take care of a child. She’s going to die out here and she has no idea what happened.
I have a theory about Agro. Agro actually died when she fell. Domain just decided to revive her along with Wander's girlfriend. Just didn't have enough power to heal her leg.
i'm afraid of heights and there are moments in this game, especially this huge last boss that had my hands and feet cold and sweating unlike any other game i've played. And this is coming from someone who's favorite genre is horror and i enjoy playing any game like outlast or amnesia lights off by myself at night no problems. It's a shame that it gets kinda repetitive though and the world is kinda empty and boring otherwise. Also, some of the collosi are uninspired and lame. My fav one was the flying worm in the dessert where u had to jump off of Argo to get on it.
It’s kinda like Faustus. Deal with the devil and the price comes due. It’s a classic tale cautioning about how it’s evil to meddle with the order God has created, in this case to attempt to cheat death.
you guys are mourning for the horse. Y’all are forgetting about the character who wanted to bring a girl back to life but instead got tricked, used, saw his horse die and never got to see the horse actually alive, and killed/ sealed away somewhere else, all because he wanted to bring back 1 girl.
To be fair though he knew he was messing with evil. He had to know there was a cost to bringing back his girl yet he still chose to go along with it. The evil never really tricked him. It told him the truth at the beginning that their would be a cost to all this. And throughout the game he was getting possessed. He could have stopped in any time. Dormin even kept his promise and brought her back from the dead. Evil but an honest evil. But I get your point
Am I the only one feel very pity to Wander the most ? The reasons are that he acted very stupid in some way : he stole the sword , moved to forbidden lands , killed all colossi and unleashed the ancient evil . And after all he was used all that time , then he was turned in some kind of ,,Zombi,, and finally when he was very close to his goal , warriors just killed him ! But even after all of this he turned in an evil monster , and even the monster was killed . But the happy in one way and in another not happy - that Wander didn't die , but turned into a baby . Damn , this ending was the most emotional to me of all games I played.
I remember losing Agro and then being so pissed off and angry when I was a little kid playing this that when I got to that final Colossus I was pumped full of rage and vengeance!
Aww the horse knew where its master was and led the girl to the top of the shrine. At least Agro survived the fall, and Wanda just back to being a baby 👶 with horns. Dunno what happened to Dormin though.
He was properly sealed away in most likely another realm. Makes you question why they didn't do that instead of splitting him up into 16 different colossi
@@SifGreyfang maybe because Dormin wasn't evil at the end. Lord Emon's last words, if are pointed at Dormin shows he's sad at what happened. Maybe they punished Dormin and banished him into 16 pieces to teach him a lesson and they hoped that he could became good? But then with the bridge destroyed, he will be forever banished from the world.
Also the thunderstorm got changed into the very same night background they used in the intro. Not only does that change the whole tone of the last 10-15 seconds of the ending but it also feels kinda lazy. A really unnecessary change that didn't ruin the remake for me but sort of soured my feelings on it overall. This plus the eagle scream were like you said the cherry on top of this huge rollercoaster ride of emotions.
@@specknacken6507 Yea I thought something felt off with the ending. The thunderstorm was the one thing they should have left alone. Would have looked sooooo good in this remake. They need to patch that in.
This was the first ending to any story that I saw as a kid that didn’t have a happy ending, and it’s probably why this story will ALWAYS stick out. It really is bittersweet, everything in the end was in vain, and for no reason. Wander just wanted to revive his fallen crush and was willing to do anything no matter the consequences, even if his intent was good, he should’ve assumed interacting with cursed shit wouldn’t end well. It just goes to show that not every hero gets their happy ending

Gotta do it for the booteh, oops, turned into a babeh. The real ending: horse died of injury, girl and baby died of malnutrition. Girl is in the middle of nowhere with a hungry baby and dying horse.
TheCrabShack I accidentally pressed dislike when pressing read more sorry
Still haven't deleted my ps2 save. Over 500+ times I've beatn' that game I believe
Am I the only one that thinks it's odd that Malus was the only colossus to keep his shape after being slain instead of turning into a pile of dust and sand
I just beat it and it was such a beautiful Game 10/10 even though some parts were frustrating lmao eazy clapz cUh
Ps plus ?
@@darkvenom2982 yeah
@@Juiceethekid
Just finished it really a masterpiece 😃
@@darkvenom2982 yeah im glad i got the chance to play it
@@darkvenom2982 oh dood you should try bloodborne
I nearly cried both when argo fell and of course the ending. Such a beautiful yet poignantly sad game :(
I don't believe Dormin is actually evil. He kept his promise to revive the girl, warned Wander that the cost would be large, and even said it only "borrowed" Wander's body, not took it. The only other words coming out from him is "Thou severed our body into sixteen segments for an eternity in order to seal away our power". He might just be an ancient ruler or primordial spirit or something.
in some theories dormin is the god of death that humans dealt with him to revive people but that some humans thought it was immoral and sealed him
One of the greatest Gaming experiences of my life! An absolute Masterpiece!
I bought it on PS2,I'm buying it again in PS4
Wait, what happened to the arrow in wander's leg before he pulled the sword out of him?
random dude it went to skyrim
29:42
Agro: "Hey did I miss anything?"
I'm not crying.. you are. 😭
This ending always make me cry everytime i see it.
What a badass ending...
When I was a kid, I COULDNT READ!
I was maybe 5 when I had mistaken Jak and Daxter and Shadow of the Colossus for a Zelda title.
As much as I wanted a Zelda game I wasn't disappointed to say the least.
Tiny me mistook Ridley for King. K. Rool.
And that's how I played Super Metroid
This game is f**king art, man....
no it is very good art
One day Hollywood will make a movie about this game for sure
Let’s not count on that😐. We all know Hollywood’s track record when it comes to adapting video games.
and it'll be terrible
god, no no no no NO, GOD no
Well the Sonic movie was good. But the game itself is basically a movie anyway.
Well... Now monos revived... And completely stuck in forbidden land with a horse with a broken leg and a demon baby... Not how I'd want to spend my saturdays but you do you
I wanna believe that he now lives in that eagle flying high and happy because he saved her loved woman
Marcelo Aravena its the same eagle from the intro
He lives as a baby. See the ending he turned I to a baby
thank you ps+ for allowing me to enjoy this masterpeice
Best ending videogame history ever had! Poetry
24:31 a god screaming 😮
No
This game is the greatest game of all time and shall forever it will be...
Well, we will see if beauty and the beast or whatever fumito's next game is called is incredible and beats shadow of the Colossus!
Malus is one hell of a scary colossi literally him not moving just standing there looking at the player is just creepy vibes
why does the game troll you at the end and make you think you can get away from the seal? (an alternate ending would have been kewl)
To make you feel helpless
Controllable Helplessness
Reminder of good old times... I completed this game in PS2 ....now I have PS4 but still it is the best game with all the emotions.
Theres plenty of food on that garden an clean water on the map
That's the point of it, isn't it? None of this would've happened if Wander just stopped.
She actually does survive, wander grows up and they have kids, leading to Ico, I think. Never played it.
I respect dormin because he keep his promise but im a bit dissapointed that that the boy didn't see the girl wake up even though he became a baby
I remember repeating the end many many times to see if there is an alternative ending to this😊
At 35:07 I always think Agro is thinking "...What the F...?!! Y'know what, fuck this, I'm out..."
yes that what i think to hahahah
I have a theory about Agro. Agro actually died when she fell. Domain just decided to revive her along with Wander's girlfriend. Just didn't have enough power to heal her leg.
23:14 You know you can walk and smash those guys? But what happens if you do get them? I tried but was never able to get them all
Least that damn horse Agro 🐴 survive the fall! Now I can sleep better tonight 😅!
My gosh this game was amazing. Also full respect to dormin for keeping his promise.
0:38 RIP Jet Black Horse
37:55 this game is a masterpiece
The amount of times I've replayed this scene is absurd. I always come back to it every now and then. beautiful ending
The ending is so in my opinion important because a this is the turning point for modern game storytelling
i'm afraid of heights and there are moments in this game, especially this huge last boss that had my hands and feet cold and sweating unlike any other game i've played.
20:46 this language is badass with that voice
A masterpiece story of deceit and desperate tragic selfishness
It’s kinda like Faustus. Deal with the devil and the price comes due. It’s a classic tale cautioning about how it’s evil to meddle with the order God has created, in this case to attempt to cheat death.
this game... it's so beautiful yet so sad. but i really love this and i really want to play it myself someday
I am glad that no one died in this game just some injuries on Argo and wander become a small cute baby😂😊😊👍😢😢
you guys are mourning for the horse.
Jonathan M true..
30:58 Nomad Colossus on the credits
OMG he still make videos about this game !! i can not get it how much this game magically !
🙂
Did you know that there were supposed to be 48 colossi in the game but the people who created this game removed some of the colossi into 16 colossi
Now im wondering if the baby at the end is half dormin half wander.
fue un gran videojuego siempre quise terminarlo 😢 será el juego que nunca olvidaré ❤️
He just wants the girl he loved her
15:27 All that line for a simple "No"
The title should be : *All this time it turns out my mom is my love*
But then with the bridge destroyed, he will be forever banished from the world.
why they took off the eagle scream at the end?? that part was the cherry on the top oh this master piece ending
This is like:
NOOOOO MY HORSE DIED
Oh yay i beat the final boss
No wait i am the final boss
No wait i am dead
No wait my horse is alive
No wait i am alive
We want part 2 wander had a chance to defeat those bastards because he is alive😢😢
That is how he became the shadow of the colossus 🤔
I hate the ending it’s sooooooo sad whhhyyyy did it have to end like that I feel like ima cry 😭😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢
good endings are good for the moment, sad endings remain with you forever
The ending is sad but also happy. They are all alive. The boy only has all the colossus in him
@@shadysaar you can say is a bittersweet ending
@@RoGameReview yeas u put it great into words 😢
This video made the Malus fight look fairly easy. It took me hours to defeat it... (Well, that was the first time, now I could do it faster I guess)
Wow everything we wanted to happen happened when we die I mean we killed every colossus for the girl yeah dormin kept his promise to revive the girl so I guess where ever our body is he is happy
he literally became a shadow of a colossus
wow very nice game i remeber when i was young in 2007 play this
Gotta do it for the booteh, oops, turned into a babeh. The real ending: horse died of injury, girl and baby died of malnutrition. Girl is in the middle of nowhere with a hungry baby and dying horse. Sad.
Just joking. True ending: The girl is Freya, who made contract with the Dark God, the boy is the first transformed titan. Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan begins.
Dammit eren
Kept you waiting, huh?
Mono wakes up and is like..."how did i get here???"
Wow Wonder looks cool AF.
The baby?
very good, thank you for the gameplay
Kill anyone but don't kill the DAMN HORSE!!
Played this on ps2 then ps3 and will more then likely buy it again for ps4. Loved this game so much and still do
