As a mom of 3, I try to be intentional about the things I buy and if my kids go through my stash and they like something I do give it to them. I enjoy seeing them use it. I have 2 daughters who love stationary like I do and definitely try offer to them.
Great timing on this video! I'm just starting round 2 of destash/declutter (round 1 was early summer) . Loved your process! It's gotta get worse before it gets better! Thanks for sharing and providing much needed encouragement. I'm setting a planner/notebook/stationary budget for 2023 in hopes of being more thoughtful with future purchases.
I try to be intentional about my purchases by having a designated purpose or plan for an item before I buy it, and also setting things aside in my cart or Wishlist for a week or more before purchasing. Loved this video - you’ve inspired me to declutter my own planning supplies :)
I instantly add to wishlists rather than just buy, then watch PR flip throughs and evaluate further. When I get stickers I remove pages I know I won’t use and gift them right away. My biggest focus of late has been to resist getting swept up in the hype and FOMO.
1:30 in and I already love it, I love a good declutter that starts with an absolute mess because thats how I declutter and it seems very real and genuine :D you got this!
I too am trying to be more intentional with my purchases I have more washi tape than one human could use in a lifetime and I am so happy to have this video as inspiration!
I’m planning to re-date old unused inserts instead of buying a new planner for 2023. Pray for me! 🙏🏼🤣 Congratulations on your wedding! 👰🏻♀️🤵🏻♂️❤ It’s been so fun following along with your journey!
Gurl, I just want to say I ABSOLUTELY enjoy your content!! Just got into planning last year and I wish I had a planner closet 😂🤣..I've never had the pleasure of owning an EDC, so if you even have a used one I'd happily take it off your hands😊 Thanks for being you Lady!🏡
I’m huge on gifting items to friends and family. I’ve been blessed with some EC PR boxes, some of those items will probably be Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers! :)
Definitely being intentional has been a bit of a struggle, but I've been intentional with my planning, my routines and just my everyday. Loving your content.
Hey Laura, thanks for sharing. I’m intentional about my buying by using a budget. Every paycheck I budget an allowance and lunch money for myself. This helps me decide because once the envelope empty then the buying is over until next paycheck. So, is the item worth it.
Seeing you declutter just inspired me to do the same at home! I had the chance to buy a home, alone, last year :) And I have SO MUCH stuff!!! I need to declutter and give/sell things. Your video just made me do a giant to-do list! So, a big thank you :)
I love a good declutter! 😄 One of the ways I try to be intentional is by only purchasing what I know suits my style. After many years in the planner community, I have a good grasp on what I always reach for. So I no longer try it, just to buy it, if I know it's not my vibe (Leopard print, I'm looking at you). Yes, I'll get creative here and there, but mostly I stick to my go to patterns, like stripes and florals.
❤️ the video. You think you have a lot of stickers. You are very minimal on stickers, I have 12 sticker binders ( the 3 ring binders that you can find at walmart) plus several of the smaller binders. The pen spinning thing next to your washi tape, where'd you get that? Is it EC? I need something like that to store pens to sit on my desk. I organize like you. My husband and I recently took a Sunday School director position, we just recently started going to the church ( a really small church) and the storage room is a complete disaster so I pulled everything out and it's all over the floor and I'm having to slowly go thru everything cause I'm not sure what is there. And it's going to take me a few months to get it all organized, see what I can keep, what to throw away and what I need to buy. I'm not able to work on it very often cause of other stuff I have to do.
Thanks so much for sharing your process! I’m trying to be intentional about not buying notebook formats I won’t use (like lined or really thin paper that doesn’t work with my favorite pens). Of course the exception was the notebooks from Tabitha Brown’s Target collection :)
I love that you're thinking about your consumption and carbon footprint as a content creator! I spend a lot of time balancing in between "I want all the things!!!" and "but will I actually USE the thing". My current purchasing practice is to make sure I know about every single one of my supplies so when I purchase something new I can honestly answer how it will help support my planning practice. I also know that when I actually use something up fully (sticker sheet, pen, etc), I feel so much more lasting fulfillment than when I get a new pen or other planner supplies. But with all of that said, Black Friday is still going to be the biggest challenge because...all of the pretties go on sale!
I’d love to know what notebooks you used, the ones you kept from the start of Plan With Laur? I’m afraid I’m lacking intentionality with purchases, but intentionality is actually something I’m learning a lot about from you and it’s something I plan to focus us!
My way to be intentional is that use absolutely EVERYTHING until the end, washi/stickers no sticky anymore - I put glue or double tape on them. Weekly stickers kit - I will intentionally use half of the boxes so one kit can be used twice, etc etc
I try to be intentional with things that we buy in such a way that we don’t have repeats, and they’ll be used, and it doesn’t make the space too overwhelming and it can still be kept under control. Dana K White has an amazing system of decluttering. I highly suggest checking out her channel and podcast, “a slob comes clean”. Great job with reducing your stash! ❤
I getting ready to do a major purge in my office/craft room. Perfect time to have a get together with friends and make things with what I have. Or put it in the kids stash so they have something. Once it’s gone, try to be mindful of what I’m buying in its place. Problem is, I cannot pass up a good sale. Sounds like I need to add a “no spend” habit tracker. 😀
I try to be intentional with my purchases by only buying things I LOVE and know I will USE. Sometimes I do better than others though 😅😛 if I do realize I have something I won’t use I donate it as soon as possible so someone else can benefit from it! I look into where and how something is made before I commit because I really want the most eco friendly thing I can find ❤❤ recently gotten back into decorative planning and it is hard to hold back from all the stickers 🙌😅
I try to only purchase as needed, but it can be a challenge with so many cute accessories out there. I am going to My 1st Go Wild in 2023 🎉 I hope to meet you there! What’s your favorite color?
I really enjoyed your video and that we got to go through this journey together. I lost my youngest son this summer to a long running terminal illness. Throughout this journey I began to realize some things. One is living intentionally. It really resonated with me that you are starting on an intentional journey early in life. This is a very good thing. Oddly enough sometimes I do things “ unintentionally”, with intention. So I guess what I am saying is follow your path, but allow yourself things that bring joy regardless of your intentions. At the end of my son’s life (he was 20), he still managed to bring joy to others and enjoy the simple things that he could. He truly lived with grace. My wish for you is that you gift yourself and your husband, now and in the future, with this grace and do it intentionally. Sincerely, Shannon Sims
Loved the video! I try to be intentional by not impulse buying -- if I still want it and love it and can't stop thinking about it after several days/weeks, then I will purchase. If not, then I'm not going to buy it. Or if it sells out before I get to it, then it wasn't meant to be and I saved some extra cash for a different purchase.
Great video! I am on a decluttering journey as well. I try and be intentional with planner purchases by only shopping for a new planner once a year, and only keeping a small box for my washi. Since I started doing that I use my washi more and its more fun to purchase new washi when I can actually “see” it being used up in the little box. Awesome job on all the hard work, I am the same way and have to start with a big pile lol 😅
Found you looking for organization videos for my planner supplies! I also try to be intentional in what I buy because I'm a stay at home mom of 3 boys and obviously I get limited amounts to just buy whatever I want. And I truly started planning seriously this year but my oh my, as I was looking for next year's planner somehow I ended up with 3 undated ones and a happy planner mini from 2021 because it's Pocahontas, Rapunzel and Merida and I just couldn't resist and I found that we are going to "repeat" that calendar on 2027 soooo I just need 1 more to be set until that year 😅🙃 but I still find myself searching through for offers and things I would like to get once I get a chance🥲. Hopefully I can start resisting and use diy'd stuff so that one day I can go to a Go Wild conference as it sounds super cool to meet and hang out with many planners
I try to plan intentionally by going back to notebooks that have space and using them for scraps! Also, it really satisfies me when I have an empty sticker sheet, so I use that as motivation for when I can purchase another 😊 thanks for doing a giveaway, was super satisfying and inspiring watching you declutter ❤
I’ve tried to become more intentional by de-cluttering and organizing more often. Then I can assess more often what I use and what I don’t I can give to my kids or my sister, and know what to not get anymore of. Still working on being less impulsive though when I see something fun on sale! Lol
I went through my planner stuff too when I redid my office. I found so many things I had forgotten I had!!!!! I go through my box before ordering anything new now.
For me, being intentional has been hard just getting into the planning hobby! I'm still trying to figure out what works for me, so sampler packs of stickers are my best friend instead of getting the full sticker book, or watching videos like yours to see what actually using the planner looks like! Then I can figure out what works for me and invest in that
I try to be intentional with my purchases ...on things that will intentionally help me to be more productive at home & at work. I try to also intentionally limit the amount of paper and pens I purchase .. because the 'addiction' is real !!!! :)
Thanks for this video. Whenever I get really into a new hobby I tend to want to collect everything that goes with it. But I think that being intentional about bringing stuff into your home is a natural next step once you start to figure out what's working for you. Great job going through everything! I try to be intentional about buying new things by really thinking about how it will fit into my home and my life. I've also started to be more mindful about where I spend my money in the hopes that it will go on to fund things that align with my values.
I always try and think about the lifespan and number of uses I can get out of tings I buy. Bathroom a cost perspective and from taking care of the planet it helps me!
I’m extremely carful with buying things now I think about color and what would I need to Match something for a certain planner spread I usually destash and put in a tub what I don’t want to keep anymore things that I get rid of whenever I get a new item in I usually destash to that bin I loved your video and I love cleaning my craft planner room while you cleaned yours thank you you really inspired me the music is really calming and is really positive love your videos want to see more of these thank you 😊🎉
I am intentional in two ways. First, I will place things that I like in my cart and I will wait at least a couple of weeks. After that, if I am still desiring the items in the cart then I will purchase them at that point. I will even wait until the hype for those items or that FOMO feeling die down as well. Second, I will ask myself two questions about this purchase. Why do I need it? and Do I love it in the space I intend it to go in? This is for those things that I seriously feel that I have to purchase right away. I have to have the space for it and I have to love it. I am trying to do my best to only invite the things that I need and love in my home because I feel that I will take care of it better and I will actually use it. I am learning that if I can stick with this, then my life and most importantly my wallet (okay my husband wallet as well LOL) will thank me.
I try to be intentional with my planner supplies by evaluating what I actually use.. because I find I'm a sticker collector that never uses them so I've started to put in a rule in place to only buy what I will actually use. My intent is to really deck out my 2023 planners. It would be so fun to do a round robin but you have to trust the people that are doing it.... you load things into a box, send it to someone and then they take things out they want and add things in they don't want and send it to the next person. You could also do an online silent auction.. people bid on photos and the highest bid, wins.
I try to be intentional by limiting myself to the physical space I have reserved for planning. I have a rainbow cart from my teaching days and recently went through and sorted all my loose stickers into drawers by category, and it really helped me see what I do or don't need. I am also trying to give each notebook a potential purpose and use more of my stationary to accomplish personal goals like making gratitude and relationships important parts of my life.
I am intentional by not following a lot of companies on Instagram so I’m not tempted and deciding what I will use instead of reacting. I also log what purchases I think I want and then give myself permission to buy it if I still want it by the end of the month - I rarely do. 😊
I have never been intentional until recently. It came a point that fomo took over. So now I am really mindful to my purchases. I was really reckless, I had to get it under control
I try to be intentional when buying by having a list of items I want and also looking at reviews on UA-cam to see if the item will be beneficial to me especially planner supplies. Love the video.
when I started journaling and planning I bought everything thinking I needed it. now I’m at a point where I have to think about how I would use something and if I have something similar in my stash that I can use instead
I try to be intentional with my purchases by 1. Keeping a list of items I need not want 2. My want items I put in the shopping cart and come back to the next day or two and eliminate what I don’t need.
I try very very hard not to buy anything new until I have used up a good amount of what I have. There are loads of things that I let go because I wanted to use what I have and not lose track of them. :)
I have to be really intentional about what I buy because one at the moment can’t really afford a lot and also I buy what I really need and will use. Also when I do go over my planner supplies and really haven’t use or need I like to donate to teachers who are in need and will be used.
I just try to be careful with what I buy, and if I have more things than what fit in a container designated for that type of item, I have to do a clean out.
Your an inspiration. I am on a tight budget and it helps to keep me limited in my options, except I over did it on the paper and printer ink trying to create a binder planner system and now I am trying to curb it down to lined paper and ink.
To be intentional about the planner I choose each year I watch soo many videos and make a pros and cons list of each one I’m considering and then choose.
This is so relatable. I just recently did a huge declutter/rehome of a lot of HP supplies, since I am not using them and changing systems completely. The biggest intent I am setting currently is to buy essentials only (like planner and bookmarks only) then as I use my new planner, buy only what I am actively missing or reaching for consistently. I am refusing to buy more stickers and accessories just because they're new and shiny for the upcoming year. I already have more than enough!
Oh boy, I just joined the planner community so I'm very much in the 'Go Wild' mode with buying all the things. But, videos like this help inspire me to hone in on what my planning style is, so that I make less frivolous purchases and be more intentional about what I buy. Love your content!
About 2 months ago I took an EC perpetual calendar and did a stationery/planner supply inventory. When I want to buy something I reference my “Inventory Book”. It has helped me save money, helped me be more organized and has also helped me to use my stash! I’m considering intentional for my word of the year for 2023.
You have definitely inspired me to declutter my planner supplies! One of my 2023 goals is to use what I have before buying more, I know that’s not entirely realistic bc I can’t resist a good sale or new product but I want to be more intentional with those purchases as I’m in a new season of life (new baby) and won’t have the same amount of time to spend on planning. Thanks for the motivation ❤
As a mom of 3, I try to be intentional about the things I buy and if my kids go through my stash and they like something I do give it to them. I enjoy seeing them use it. I have 2 daughters who love stationary like I do and definitely try offer to them.
We need an exchange or sale page for one another lol

Online garage sale ... ??? LOL.. I see a bunch of things that would be great on my shelves .. heheheheh!!!
Honestly - should we do this? Like a live auction?
@@PlanWithLaur Yes, yes... and YAAAASSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

I am totally with you on the stickers. I'm trying not to buy anymore stickers. Maybe it's because I don't like my handwriting as much as I want to

I try not to buy purchise because I have pen pals that send me stuff that i can use in my planner.
Over the years I have learned my planning style, and what I actually use, so stay more intentional to those items.
Great video! Thank you for sharing.
I try to be intentional by limiting the space I can use to store my supplies. I also hate waste, so always use what I buy.
What I'm trying to do is not to buy and use up what I already have. If that makes sense
Girl my daughter got married in June and I sold a ton of stuff. They got a good deal and I got money to eat out with lol.
Oh boy, I just joined the planner community so I'm very much in the 'Go Wild' mode with buying all the things. But, videos like this help inspire me to hone in on what my planning style is, so that I make less frivolous purchases and be more intentional about what I buy. Love your content!
I just loves me some stationary products
I have got the point where I do the 3 days cart. If i still want
eed then I get it.
I keep trying to 'pick up' my office and immediately falls into chaos- I think I need to take this same approach!
YES GIRL!
Do you have Erin Condren retired covers to de-stash?
Great video....see you at go wild...
Wanna come help me clean out my stash next? 😹💜
Wow Journaling really cute
I haven’t used my craft room in two years. The cold weather has motivated me to get it organized
YES time to get organized!
I just loves me some stationary products🎉🎉
They really are so much fun!
You have inspired me to go thru all my planner stuff and destash. Ty!
