A PR agent told me that the 30,000 thing was just a stunt. If you watched 30,000 ten-minute tapes for 8 hours a day, seven days a week, it would take you two years to view them all. The PR agent told me they had 30,000 people send in tapes, then looked at the 20 people the casting director already had in mind. It’s kind of like how they already knew who the final five on “American Idol” were going to be before the season started, but had all those other people audition to make it look like a real contest.
she said "applicants", even if no one looked at all the tapes, those people still applied for the job... definitely a publicity stunt, but technically not a lie...
Such maturity at 20. She might get an Oscar nomination for her very first movie.
