Aw man, we were glued to the tv set Saturday mornings. A full on blood bath between the big three networks for the kids' commercial attention.
Thank you for this and please keep more of these classics coming! ABC Saturday mornings were the best. 😊
Now that's the Schoolhouse Rock jingle that I remember!
The Superfriends music was epic.
Thanks to syndication of the time, SuperFriends slipped into weekdays near the mid-80's which helped with catch up a lot.
I remembered that back in the 80's.
WABC-TV (channel 7) in NYC was the station that carried these two shows on Saturday mornings like “Superfriends” and “Plastic Man” as well as “Schoolhouse Rock”.
Do you know who would have been "live" at the local WABC announcing booth in that time period - Ed Jordan, or one of the others?
Long time character actor and voiceover artist Michael Bell was the voice of Plastic Man. Dick Gjonola was "The Marvelous Magical Burger King" for several years starting in 1976. Character actor Lennie Winerib was the voice of "Timer".
Lennie Weinrib. Now we know why Timer's voice sounded similar to Scrappy-Doo at the outset.
79 was the year my son was born
“Plastic Man Comedy Adventure Show” lasted only one season on ABC, but it later went into syndication in the 1980’s where it was revived and added “Heathcliff”, “Marmaduke”, “Rickety Rocket”, “Goldie Gold” and more, and a live action segment with Plastic Man.
I was 8yrs old thanks for the memories😊
I never heard koolaid man go yeahhaa all falsetto like the stylistics, before!! That's hysterical!!!
I remember that! In fact, that's the Kool-Aid jingle I most remember from my childhood in the 1970's. I loved drinking the orange flavored Kool-Aid, it was my favorite.
Such memories for me back in the mid 1980's...especially Schoolhouse Rock. ABC recently did a sing-along special with a lot of the songs...perhaps including my pick for the #1 song in all Schoolhouse Rock...Conjunction Junction (What's Your Function?)
That and "I'm Just a Bill" are among my favorites of that whole set. R.I.P. Jack Sheldon.
Why these are better than nowadays. They gmhsve the heart and soul for this big time
OH MY GAWD!! I saw that episode of Kids Are People, Too, with Ray Bolger when it first aired!! Ray said that he was going to donate his Scarecrow outfit to the Smithsonian. Hopefully, that episode will appear somewhere.
I can't help but think that chef dude wouldn't have burned his hand if messenger boy hadn't distracted him from his job.
Pepermint Place was on WFHL TV channel 23 in Decatur, IL, for a season or two in the 1990's.
Merci très super 👍❤
Time for timer !
give anything just to feel the way I did back then for one day.
Great song from my Sat Morning Past❤😂🎉
The super friends end credits is rare as it’s in the same background as Laff a lympics and soon scooby doo
If you have any "New Adventures of Mighty Mouse" stuff from 1979-1980 (aired on CBS) I would love to know. Been searching for the original opening and closing sequence to the hour-long version for up to six years now...
Cartoons followed by ‘ABC Weekend Special’.
SUPERFRIENDS!!!!!
Shame Disney+ doesn't have the funky intro for "Schoolhouse Rock".
Though why do I feel James Gunn is going to force some Plastic-Man project on us? (Also, I see no difference between Fangface and Crash Bandicoot.)
We had Bugs Bunny Road Runner Hour here in Detroit, Scooby Do, Wacky Racers,Space Ghost,Johnny Quest,Abbot and Costello Cartoon, than later at around Noon,Sir Graves Ghastly than Creature Feature on Channel 50 at 3.30pm and either Outer Limits or Star Trek at 5pm
They have 3 am netflicks😢😢
It's Scarecrow, not Strawman
Is there any missing persons sildes discovered on WMAQ TV NBC Channel 5 from the late 80's?
That "Sunshine on a Stick" crap never worked.
Do you happen to have more ABC Saturday morning from around this time? I've been looking for a lost short that aired called "willie survive? What to do in a fire" thanks!
😃👍
Can you upload the original Tarzan and the Super 7
Gibby's ( Butthole Surfers) Dad!
It makes me sad watching this knowing that kids today will never know the pure joy that Saturday morning cartoons on the Big 3 networks used to be.
I caught the tail end of that era; there were still a few good Saturday morning shows into the late 90s.
To be fair there was a lot of it was that just for advertising so they're probably better off. ;)
@@mage189 very true. Pokémon was one nail in the coffin
@@mage189
That wasn’t the real days of Saturday cartoons. It was over by then. I think they’re referring to the 70s and early 80s.
IKR.
TV doesn't work the same way...anymore😭.
