yes, but problem is, not every cop is the same. if you holster, you won't have any issues, qhile keeping it out of plain sight. learned this from an actual twxas cop
@@texascarryacademy Agree that most autoloaders without manual safeties should always be in a holster no matter where they are, including the nightstand at home. But not all guns lack a manual safety, and not all guns have 3-4 pound triggers. For example, normal unmodified revolvers are usually around 10 pounds, and double action/single action autoloaders like the CZ-P07, which if set up for manual decocking rather than safety have a first trigger pull of around 10 pounds, thereafter much lighter. For such guns, it wouldn't be a problem to be carried resting on a folded microfiber towel in the center console or glovebox. And I for one wouldn't throw any kind of gun into a console or glovebox no matter what!
When did the law change? I thought that if the gun can be seen, it needs to be in a belt or shoulder holster, and not a car holster, like a "permantly" mounted one. Making those magnet under dash "holsters" not legal. Further that concealed in a vehicle (not in plain sight) did not have to be in a holster (whether licensed or not)
We are at, supposed to carry sidearm at all times. I dont remember. So and so said he found a loaded weapon in so and so vehicle. And we said, ok, I think we are at secure weapon properly. And I said, wait, why were you in so and so vehicle?
Not sure why you think it's BS because it's a great law, prior to this law the gun. had to be "on your person" in a waistband or shoulder holster if it was visible, now it doesn't have to be on your body. What difference does it make? Well for one, how else would you have a loaded handgun safely in your vehicle without it being in a holster?? For two, it allows us to use vehicle mounted holsters. We no longer have to worry about the seat belt blocking quick access to our gun.
@@texascarryacademy I think it’s BS because one, it’s “yet another law“ (that I wasn’t aware of) another “gotcha” that lacks common sense. If concealed, it’s a pocket in a pocket. Two, If I’m getting carjacked it’s between my leg and my seat, I pick it up and bring to bear. If I have to remove it from a holster I have to use both hands or otherwise compromise the action.
Agree with everything, BUT thought IF it wasn't on your body in a holster (concealed or open), it cannot be openly displayed laying in the vehicle, even holstered. I thought that scenario required it to be concealed under an towel or glovebox, etc.
Law changed last season...If it is "displayed" anywhere in your vehicle it is ok as long as it's in. a holster......Laws change every two years in Texas...
You don’t want to lay on the seat or the dash. You get in a crash. And that thing will bounce around and possibly discharge a round of it hits the butt of the slide.
Well, what ever gun fits your hand properly, doesn't matter if you are a fist time owner or not. There are a lot of great options, Glock 43X, Sig P365, Smith and Wesson Shield, HellCat. Try them all and see what fits better in your hand....
A cop pulled up on me while I was parked smoking and my gun was unholstered but the holster was in the backseat and now I have a court date smh wish I knew this before yesterday
I have a question..for a non LTC holder, can I carry in my vehicle, in my center console, not holstered w 1 in the chamber?. Or is that considered an unlawful carry of a weapon?.
Why in the world would you have a chambered gun NOT in a holster? ANY handgun that is chambered needs to be in. a secure holster otherwise it's going to go bang. Doesn't matter what the law says....
The title of the video is "vehicle carry" so yea, we focused on the vehicle. How would you carry in a neighborhood if not in a holster? Would you walk around with it in your hand?, stuff it in your draws? I don't get it....Everyone who carries uses a holster unless the gun is in. a bag or purse but even then it's in. some type of holster that covers the trigger guard. How else can you carry it in a safe manner?
@@texascarryacademy I agree with you and I would use a holster and my wife would use her purse. I guess I was a little confused about whether I could "open" carry it in a holster or "conceal" carry it inside my jeans or in a shoulder holster under a jacket. Unlike the car situation, my understanding is I can carry it however I want outside a car.
A car is not a gun safe. This is why Texas has an extremely high rate of car break-ins due to how many people keep guns in their cars. It's also how criminals (including teenagers) keep getting free guns. A self-defense gun should always be on your person. If for some reason you can't carry it, it should go into a lock box secured to the metal base of the seat. That is what I keep in my car for when I have to go into the post office or airport where you can catch a felony for carrying a handgun. I also never leave my gun in my car overnight and I don't put any gun-related bumper stickers on my car. I don't even put political bumper stickers on my car.
This has NOTHING to do about using your car as a "gun safe" or leaving guns unattended in your car. Also, "on your person" in a vehicle is NOT the best option in most cases because access is slowed down by the seat belt. That's why a good holster mount is BEST when you get in your vehicle. Also, with an LTC you will NOT get charged with a felony if you happen to carry past a secured area at an airport, with an LTC they have to give you the option to leave the secured area before you can be charged. This protection is ONLY for those with an LTC....
@@texascarryacademy I'm not disputing that an LTC is a good idea. But more often then not, people forget to remove their "car gun". Again statistics show time and time again, that thousands of guns are stolen from vehicles in Texas every year. In Houston alone, in 2022, more than 3,300 firearms were stolen from vehicles. The other danger of a car gun is that if you're fiddling around trying to holster your gun while sitting in your car, you have more of a chance of a negligent discharge due to the awkward position. If you stand up outside of the car, if anyone spots you holstering your gun, if they're not gun owners, they're going to freak out and call the police. I had this happen to me once when I was simply readjusting my holster and had to pull up my shirt to. Someone saw it and called the police. BTW, I do carry when in the car, but I carry in the 3 to 4 o' clock position and simply slide my holster a bit backwards out of the way of the seatbelt. I also practice popping off the seatbelt and drawing (in my driveway. It just takes a little training to get fast at it.

GOOD INFO... i need didnt know i didnt need a license in TEXAS..
What gun would u recommend for a 1st timer.
Thanks GOD SPEED
While you don't need a license just understand that without a license you have a lot more restrictions....
Glock 43x, Springfield hellcat, fn 509c, s&w m&p m2.0 Compact
@@wavyboysean9433 all great options..
P365 Sig Sauer
You don’t want to lay on the seat or the dash. You get in a crash. And that thing will bounce around and possibly discharge a round of it hits the butt of the slide.
Anythings possible but people do it anyway....
@@texascarryacademy they definitely do.
Murica is such a nice land where to live.
It is....
The handgun holster makes sense for both legal and safety reasons. Is there a requirement for carbines and shotguns, such as in a case or on a rack?
No, there are actually no long gun laws on the books in Texas....hahaha
@@texascarryacademywhat about a micro Draco would it have to be in a case or some type of holster since it’s considered a pistol
@@chasinracks4177 A pistol is a pistol...
A holster is only required if it’s not concealed.
Like I said, if it's "visible"...Only a fool carries a gun ANY king of way without a holster though....
The holster thing I get it but it makes my eyes roll.
How else would you safely do it without a holster?
if i ever drive through Texas, I would have bulletproof windows installed, titanium door panels, and wear a bullet proof vest, lol
hahahaha
I feel safer in TX, cuz I carry! Just like in the wild, wild west!
Beautiful woman!
Thanks....
What gun do you recommend for a first time gun owner?
Well, what ever gun fits your hand properly, doesn't matter if you are a fist time owner or not. There are a lot of great options, Glock 43X, Sig P365, Smith and Wesson Shield, HellCat. Try them all and see what fits better in your hand....

A cop pulled up on me while I was parked smoking and my gun was unholstered but the holster was in the backseat and now I have a court date smh wish I knew this before yesterday
Oh no! Sorry that happened....
What about my PDW? Like my MP5 variant, or a Kriss vector? Do i need to carry them in a bag?
A handgun is a handgun and a rifle is a rifle. There are no rifle laws as far as carry....
When can I get to hear her talking on the subject?
Did you watch the video I just posted? The waterproof ammo video? Watch the beginning of it. Lol
Damn my felony..Damn it to hell.

They indeed make some great holsters...
went to my local police station and they said that a gun mount is not alloud in texas
If the gun is mounted IN A HOLSTER they are legal...As long as the gun is in a holster it can be ANY way you want....

Can I carry my gun in all these ways in my truck? With or without a license?
Yes, as long as you meet the legal requirements and can legally posses the gun...
Ok,thanks for the reply 🫡@@texascarryacademy
This seems focused on carrying in the car. What about elsewhere? Do I need it holstered if I am walking in my neighborhood?
