The Alaskan Klee Kai dog breed is available in 3 different sizes. Toy size, miniature and standard size. But these sizes do not specify the weight the Klee Kai should be when full grown. The three sizes are based on the adult height of the Klee Kai. So how can you determine what size your Klee Kai will grow up to be in weight? Here are some tips to help you predict your Alaskan Klee Kai puppy's adult weight:
1. Look at the breed history and ancestry
2. Predict the weight from puppy's birth using a puppy adult weight calculator.
3. Avoid factors that can affect puppy growth and development.
When Do Puppies Stop Growing?
The specific length of time they spend growing depends on their breed.
Toy breeds generally take about 10 months to 1 year (e.g. Chi's and Yorkshire Terriers).
Small to medium dogs take about 12 to 15 months growing and hit their final size at 18 months (e.g. Alaskan Klee Kai, Basenjis and Beagles).

Well, it would be very useful to be able to predict the adult size of a puppy and maybe it works some time with some breeds. The Akk is a fairly new breed and as such is not as genetically "fixed" in its traits as older breeds. I tried the calculator using known weights of my grand daughter's pomchi. The dog just turned a year old on June 2nd so I know the adult weight. The puppy calculator estimated the adult weight at 3 lbs. The dog had also been Embark tested and Embark gave an estimated genetic weight prediction of 12 lbs . The dogs actual weight is 8lbs. If the breed club has anybody with a compulsive detail oriented mind and breeders were willing to send them this sort of info maybe an accurate weight formula could be figured out for the breed. Might be a fun project for a breeder or the breed club to do.
