One of the better woodson highlights
Thank you for another video on Rod Woodson. He is my favorite defensive back of all time. He could cover, return kicks, and hit/tackle. His statistic and accoutrements are astounding, but most importantly almost every team he played for got better. Of all the greats, past and present: Primetime (greatest athlete at the position), Champ Bailey, Charles Woodson, Aeneas Williams, Dick "Night Train" Lane, Darrell Green, Mike Haynes, Eric Allen (whom I actually met! Cool guy!), Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson, and many others, Rod Woodson was the complete package.
A man!.....I know Primetime was great, but Rod was the illest DB without question!!!!

@@redzdageneral8778 Yeah, because Deion had to hop on the two best teams to get a ring. Rod got very close with the team that drafted him twice (in 1994-1995). Plus Rod was a more versatile defensive player.

Rod basically ended the "Run 'n Shoot Offense" in the NFL. Warren Moon still checks under his bed every night, making sure Rod isn't under there waiting to blitz.

The difference between Rod and Deion was that Rod could and would tackle anyone. Sanders would just duck into a little ball when he had to try and tackle someone over 200 pounds.

@@dumisatonyjohnson8145 that "no contacting the WR after 5 yards downfield" rule was installed to counterbalance Mel's dominance, and used to be known as the Mel Blount Rule. In the same was as there once was a Hines Ward rule. Mel played like he was from a different planet - Deion Sanders' athleticism + Lawrence Taylor's physicality.
Best overall DB but not corner. If for no other reason he allowed himself to get beat a lot due to biting too much on pump fakes and play action fake handoffs. Had he committed to just his man at all times, he may have had less splash plays but his closing speed and athleticism would have allowed him to be more of a shutdown guy. What he did at safety after being moved there makes him IMO the best overall Defensive Back

Woodson was great AT SPLASH PLAYS and that's WHY he's put up there with the greatest cornerbacks ever . As far as actually COVERING receivers he was AVERAGE AT BEST - he used to GET BURNED DEEP more then ANYONE ELSE IN THE LEAGUE !!

You know what dude....... I grew up watchin' Rod playin' wit da ravens and da raiders when he made the transition to Safety. Now I knew he played corner and excelled, but I had no idea that Rod was this dominant, until you posted his highlights with the steelers. I saw the highlights you post prior, these are just a repost with strictly the steelers.
Rod Woodson is the 2nd best Cornerback of All-Time in my opinion............and i don't believe the Steelers would have let him leave if he didn't get injured and lose that 4.27 speed...........
He was bitter when the Steelers did not pay him big after his ACLS injury. Prof when he left he became a SAFTEY!
