    Thank you for making this video! I was very annoyed by some other videos titled as "dupes" but then did not find even comparable shades and were more expensive in some cases!

    I absolutely loved this video!!!! I have been drooling over the tarte amazonian clay blushes for years, and have yet to be able to splurge on them and now I can have a ¨taste of them¨. I am so looking forward to getting these dupes!

    Wonderful to put a positive spin on such a negative aspect of Tarte. I too have put my Tarte blushes away which is sad, but I will not support a company that tests on animals. Thank you for finding such great dupes!!! And what a bonus that they are so much cheaper. Great video!

      Thanks Cynthia! Yea its a shame for a company who claims to be both Cruelty Free and Natural to turn away from the values they started with from the very beginning. I am glad I was able to find cheaper alternatives, glad I could help! XO

    MY POINT TO MY COMMENT WAS NOT TO GIVE THE BLUSHES AWAY BUT USE THEM SINCE THEIR CRUELTY STATUS AT THE TIME THEY WERE BOUGHT WAS GOOD. I DON'T WANT ANYTHING I HAVE MANY OF THESE ALREADY. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW MY COMMENT WAS TAKEN THAT WAY. I JUST MEANT KOSE DID NOT TAKE OVER THE COMPANY TILL RECENTLY AND THE PACKAGING WAS A HINT. I BELIEVE ALL THE ONES SHE SHOWED WERE IN OLD PACKAGING WHICH I LIKE ALLOT MORE. I AM SORRY YOUR VIDEO WAS AMAZING AND SO APPRECIATED FOR THOSE WHO ARE SEEKING ALTERNATIVES. THANK YOU.

    I actually unsubscribed when you said you would still be buying and showing urban decay etc in your videos as I don't buy from animal testing companies parent or not but I was looking for tarte dupes and saw this, I'm really grateful for your time and effort put into doing this as tarte was a brand I was excited to try until they sold out and now I have some nice alternatives. Thankyou x

    Tarte: Still Cruelty Free
    March 18, 2014 in Makeup, Misc
    Maureen Kelly Tarte
    Maureen Kelly, founder of Tarte; Image Source: Style.com
    I just learned today that Tarte has been sold to KOSE, a non-cruelty free Japanese brand. Some of you have voiced concern that Tarte will no longer be cruelty free. Nothing is ever black and white. Whether or not you continue to buy Tarte is a personal decision, but I wanted to share my personal opinion on the matter.
    This is no different than the myriad of cruelty free companies who are owned by larger companies like The Body Shop, Burt’s Bees, NARS, Tom’s of Maine, bareMinerals, Urban Decay, etc. Leaping Bunny and PETA support these companies as long as they maintain cruelty free practices, and so do I.
    With so many larger companies swallowing up smaller companies, this is getting to be more and more common. The benefit of cruelty free brands working with these large companies is that they get broader distribution and will be more widely available. Many readers tell me that they wish there were more cruelty free brands available where they live, at drugstores, etc. Well, money makes the world go round and this is how these brands get to the masses.
    Here’s another way to look at it. I shop at Sephora and ULTA. They carry many cruelty free brands and many brands that are NOT cruelty free. Sephora’s house brand is sold in China, and therefore, not cruelty free. That doesn’t mean I will stop shopping there. I will purchase the cruelty free brands, and hopefully (we will) show Sephora and ULTA (and other stores) that there is a strong consumer demand for cruelty free products. If you’re vegan, do you avoid grocery stores that sell meat? I doubt it. But you’re still putting money into the hands of the grocers who do sell meat. Same thing. You can’t live in a bubble. There’s no way to live a perfect life.
    I totally respect those of you who disagree with my opinion. Please check my list of cruelty free brands. I update it regularly, and I note which brands are owned by non-cruelty free companies.
    Here is the Maureen Kelly, founder of Tarte’s, message (from Tarte’s Facebook page):
    Hey tartelettes - It’s Maureen
    I’ve been reading your comments and concerns over the past hour and wanted to let you know I hear them all loud and clear. I promise, I’m not going anywhere. I started tarte out of my one bedroom apartment and I’m still just as passionate about making innovative, eco-friendly products that deliver real results. I’ll still be in the office every day working with my team to develop new products I hope you’ll love as much as I do. Remember, tarte will NOT be testing on animals, or EVER test on animals. We are a cruelty-free company and will remain one. KOSÉ is completely on board with our position as an eco-friendly, cruelty-free company and has given tarte such a great opportunity to grow and expand around the world. It’s really an exciting time and we can’t wait to reach more tartelettes worldwide. Please look at the checklist below and be assured tarte is in great hands.
    · We will remain a cruelty-free beauty brand focused on high-performance naturals™
    · We will continue to manufacture our high-quality products to our exacting standards, which means our formulas will continue to be formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, and gluten
    · We will continue to formulate with good-for-you ingredients like Amazonian clay, maracuja, minerals, colored clay, superfruits and vitamins
    · With my team, we will continue to innovate and create products we believe tartelettes will love
    · We will continue to expand internationally where are our high standards are met-we can’t wait to reach more tartelettes worldwide!

    OK this is ridiculous when she purchased these blushes tarte had not sold yet so I would only knock anything produced after April this year when the sale was official. The old packaging is a sign it would be from the older line. I see no reason to not use these amazing products even if there aer no future purchases.

    • @MyFreckledJourney
      @MyFreckledJourney 10 років тому +4

      Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't see anywhere in the video that she said she was no longer going to use the products? She made a video on dupes. Which is helpful for many reasons. She might continue to use them until she finishes them up or she might give them away. She didn't say, but if she does decide to give them away because she doesn't want to use them anymore what does that matter to YOU? Why is it ridiculous for someone to make a decision that is best for them?

      My reason for making this video was to offer alternatives for cruelty free subscribers who were planning to invest in tarte blushes before they were owned by a testing company and also share cheaper alternatives to everyone trying to save money. I still have yet to decide whether I am keeping the Tarte blushes I already own and add them to my freelance kit or give them away to a new home. Thanks for watching. X

    • @cosmeticcouturier
      @cosmeticcouturier 10 років тому +2

      your entitled to your opinion, but Tarte has actually been working with Kose for over ayear or more, all the while lying about there CF status. April was when they came clean. The have had the words "made in china" on their packaging forever and a day. Also tarte uses Lanolin oil. A very non vegan ingredient to many natural and cruelty free or vegan buyers. its best to recycle or upcycle if they are not worth your time.

    Isn't it the same situation has Urban Decay both belong to a non cruelty free company pls give us your opinion on that matter. Thank you so much for this amazing video. Take care.xo

    • @SincerelySaraiC
      @SincerelySaraiC 10 років тому

      I'm glad you asked this question Lotus! At this moment in time I have no desire to support Tarte cosmetics. Although the initial situation is similar to UD, Tarte is not taking the next step to ensure there Cruelty Free status and partner up with Leaping Bunny. Doing so is very important to me. If they get certified by Leaping Bunny then that would mean for me that leaping bunny has made the appropriate screening to determine if in fact Tarte as an individual company is taking the means to stay cruelty free even though the company who owns them is not. Hopefully this makes sense. XO

  • @elizabeth-2213
    @elizabeth-2213 3 роки тому

    Tarte is still better in the long run for me personally. I've used several of these other brands & they are not as pigmented & they don't spread as evenly on the skin or last as long so you end up using more product & not really saving as much money as you think you are. Not to mention Tarte is STILL CRUELTY FREE.

  • @Keepingthehome345

    Great video! I say good riddance to tarte. I stopped purchasing from them a while back when I switched to natural because a lot of their products were green washed.

    • @SincerelySaraiC
      @SincerelySaraiC 10 років тому

      Good Riddance indeed! Yea they are a very shady company. They use there packaging tactics to grab attention to the Natural community with there bamboo containers and such. Although I am not a natural shopper I have heard about there green washing. I like transparency in a company...there not it.

      +SincerelySaraiC Hi, where did you find this info on Tarte? I always check PETA's website. This info is from today features.peta.org/cruelty-free-company-search/cruelty_free_companies_company.aspx?Com_Id=2251&Donottest=-1&Product=0&Dotest=-1&RegChange=-1&Country=-1&Keyword=Tarte+Cosmetics

    • @SincerelySaraiC
      @SincerelySaraiC 8 років тому

      They are Cruelty Free but have a parent testing company. This was at a time where there cruelty free status was unclear and I wasn't supporting companies who had a parent testing company. As of now I do purchase from brands that are CF even if they have a testing parent company. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!

  • @cupcakefiend5

    A really well made video that you must have put a lot of effort in, but - Im sorry to say, many of these "dupes" are way off. Charisma and Pearlescent pink are a good example. They're very far from dupes and one of those ELF blushes from the studio line (which name I can't remember) is like almost identical to Charisma. I guess you've rigged through your collection to find the most similar choices and that have had to be a lot of work put into it, but there really is so many really close dupes to some of these blushes that yours might be more like - alternatives and similar color families but not dupe in the meaning of the word.
