I would love to see you trying to "optimize" engines when they reach the point of failure. Not necessarily something obvious as "just slap a turbo on it" but small changes like timing, fuel etc.
If the total trailer's weight is 28k lbs. It can pull 2 unloaded containers which weigh up to 10k lbs(average). What is more impressive is that a loaded trailer is 42-45k lbs but if you find the half of 45 its 22. So you can go uphill with a more than half loaded trailler with almost no problem! pretty impressive for a 7.3L engine!!!
Fun fact about the GAA was that it was all aluminum, DOHC, 32V, 60° V8 with a flat plane crank. It also had a very high red line rpm (considering the size and age) and made a little over 1000hp in the tank where it was tuned way down for the sake of reliability. Oh! And it used 2 very small (for its size) 2 barrel carburetors. I would love to see one done up with modern induction and fuel delivery and machining techniques and pushed to it's limit lol.
Why does the 7.3 have a 6 speed instead the 10 speed it actually comes with? Also, I think that torque converter is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. Curious what the transmission temps would be like.
@@cuabcomstad The idea that it was the torque converter really solidified for me once I realized that the RPMs were staying the same and the Wheel Power was going down. That's a lot of slip happening there, all of the slip, actually. Have to see if I can find some of these magic converter seals in real life.
@@MostlyMaggieMay tbh I just wanna see him test it I don't think it'll actually help too much, more likely just be a hinderence but maybe more grip would help since this games not real life you can't necessarily count reality as an excuse not to think something could work
I'd say the main problem is the torque converter, a manual transmission would be much better for towing as it directly connects the engine and the wheels and doesn't dissipate as much energy as an automatic transmission with a torque converter does
I pressed 1 on my numpad to skip a bit into the video and listening to the first three notes I heard, I would have sworn the US national anthem was playing

want more towing power? start with a stronger clutch and grippier tires. you lose a lot of torque between the crank and the rest of the drivetrain from the clutch slipping, and thus why you burn your clutch. you can actually adjust the clutch fork and spring to press the clutch harder against the flywheel. why doesn't any major auto manufacturers install thrust bearings on the block?
How realistic is the cooling system being simulated? I wonder without air movement(Minus what the fan clutch can move, wouldn’t it overheat? At some point being basically at stand still, while working so hard?
It would start getting hot fairly quick, but a medium duty application that the 7.3 would go in would have a larger radiator, coolant, and oil mass than a car, so it would tolerate it for longer. The joules to cylinder wall are calculated with an engine efficiency value and fuel burned in mind, so it seems the simulation is good from the thermals monitor UI I have open.
@@mrburgermaster Interesting, I assumed it was fairly realistic. All the this video shows is airspeed, which is reflecting the trucks mph. Amazing program, so tempted to purchase.
@@rifkyfahrana1141 but “heavy duty” pickups are technically medium duty (Class 3-4). Which is why you won’t see a 6.7 Powerstroke in anything heavier than a Ford F-750, which is a Class 6/7 medium duty truck.

automation and beamng need to be combined into 1 game IMO
It's already running at Max for a naturally aspirated engine, it might run into knocking if ran too advanced

The seals on the torque converter are made of magic
