Thanks for showing us reality and that things happen! Your work is amazing
Love your vids Vanessa!
Gorgeous photos.. lovely.
First of all you guys are using a crop sensor so it isn't 70 300mm more like 110 to 480mm and it's a mirrorless can not a dslr, even tho ef lens can work on Rf mount with adapter I would love to see those lens in work with a full frame dslr like 6D mkII
You are one of the most beautiful photographer I have ever seen 😍❤️
lovely that you use the m50 and other begginner bodies please keep doing this with m50, r10 etc.
You should also mention distance between subject to background. Inexpensive lenses usually don’t have the sharpness for sure but background distance helps in separation.
Strange, since you are using a mirrorless camera, it is not supposed to have back or front focus, once the focusing system are in the sensor not apart.
Was about to say the same! Where is the AF point selection in the missed focus shots?
Yeah that was weird, but something was off with that lens. Focus point was on her face with eye detection
I think it's a purpose bias. They sell lenses, and it's a great opportunity to knock one down, and boost the other ok.
Noticed that she didn't want to share the imbarassing ones, but she is sooo meek and humble, and shares the lesser ones anyways.
Show the bad, then show the good, and make it sound amazing!
I don't know. I have taken portraits with my 75-300, non IS, and I have been asked if I used the 70-200.
I know for a fact you can produce great photos for any basic person, as they won't notice these major differences like we do.
With my 55-250, nobody has been able to shoot that one down just by looking at photos, to say it's not better than the 70-200.
That's my only downfall when it comes to the 70-200, I can't justify buying the more expensive. EXCEPT if the majority of my work was done in lower light.
You are a perfectionist that's why you're so successful that's also a problem but you do it beautifully
"am i happy about this shoot... 100% NO" I felt that 😂 nothing wrong with striving to perfom at your maximum potential
Thanks Vanessa. Another great video. It’s great to see Dennis Reggie. I’ve seen him at the photo show at the Javits Center many times and he says that I should not be afraid to charge $50,000 for a wedding shoot.
I took the cheap lens around SE Asia and shot more than 17,000 frames. I also own the f4 and yes, it’s more consistent, but the other lens should give you much better results.
Nice video! Is the m50 your main body?
I have a 5diii which I love but I keep wanting to grab an m50ii just as a second body for longer shots when doing auto racing shoots.
Strange about the 70-300 missing focus. I grabbed one a few months ago not expecting it to be amazing but mine has been deadly sharp. Maybe a previous customer dropped that one or something.
Lovely
What a shame. I was so curious how these lenses would compare and how much difference there would be in terms of sharpness. I have the 70-300mm and capture very sharp images of birds in flight with it as well as joggers and cyclists etc. I've thought about getting the 70-200mm f4 but need to see with my own eyes if there is enough gain in image quality.
I own both I I would say the difference is colors. Is way more fun to shoot with the L. The 70-300 is very good, but the 70-200 L is more fun (obviously personal preference)
Owned one (f4/5.6) and used the other (f4) more than once for motorsport as well as portraits... would prefer the f4 any day, especially because of the better speed of focus, but had to live with what I owned, so made it work..
The EF 70-300 IS 11 lens is super fast at focusing. I'm wondering if you were referring to an earlier version. Did your version have the lcd panel on top? That lens is actually pretty sharp at 300 mm. Really works better with a FF camera.
My copy of the 70-300 USM II is very sharp. There must have been something wrong with the one you were using. Not a bad lens at all.
Your videos are always a pleasure to watch.
I sympathize with sweating. I sweat lots! LOL...
Very nice video as always. I really do enjoy your work and learn a lot from you. I own the Canon 70-300 and use it with the Canon M50 (but not the Mark ll) and have been very pleased with the sharpness. What adaptor are you using since the lense is an EF mount and not an M mount? The Canon adaptor changes the focal range to 112-480 because of the crop sensor (1.6x factor). Could this be a factor?
The focal lenght is always applied if you are using a cropped sensor. Either adapter or no if your body is with an apsc sensor then the lens’ focal lenght is multiplied by 1.6
Therefore if you are using a 50mm lens the equivalent on a cropped body will be 80mm
Something off here - mirrorless cameras should not have an issue regarding lens calibration. Maybe the less expensive lens you were using was just defective?
Why do we need to know your settings it’s lighting dependant
70-200 f4L version? 1? Or 2?
Is it a 63?
Why don't you use 200mm f4 totally zoomed in?? It would have given more compressed background and subject separation.
You mentioned lens calibration.. I was under the impression that with mirrorless cameras no calibration was needed..
I always learn a lot from your videos. But you forgot to put down Dennis Regie's information.
Thanks for the video. Please check your audio levels, it's clipping badly.
Yeah this was the first video of the day and we had an issue. Lol
Lots of issues!
At least you got the make right... they're both Chevy's.... : )
What about 70-300 L vs 70-200 f4L?
Audio levels are peaking 😬
Vanessa, the photos are all out of focus, they lack crispness, one can barely make out the pupils in the eyes, the eyebrows, hair, even when she's not moving. Even those in your Free Posing Inspiration Guide. I've also noticed this in previous videos. Is this the effect you want, or is it the camera, lens?
Both lenses perform better on fullframe (6D, RP), it's a waste of time on a a crop sensor. My m50 misses focus pretty frequently as your's and there is no calibration for mirrorless. There is no way to fix this issue
Rosita???????? You are Cute!!!!
my samsung is always sharp, my canon almost never.
Thanks for showing us reality and that things happen! Your work is amazing
Vanessa, all your videos are great. Even when your pictures don't come out perfect, I like listening to you to understand the story behind the shoot.
