Great video. I'm sure all of us in the keys who fish on small paddlecraft have learned this lesson. Nothing puckers your butt like the thought of having to camp out in the dark because you didn't judge the tides right.
Out there one of those totally windless nights once.... Eaten alive by saltwater mosquitoes waiting for high tide.... No mosquito spray planes in the Backcountry... Makes one appreciate the old conchs
Steve, really love these videos because you show us the way around, all of the keys. You can get lost out there very easily. I do run my motor, my FF/GPS for depth and setting a course. My bow lights, 360 light. My Kayak has everything I need. But the keys are huge, and those neg tides. That's why I love my kayak. Can always pull her, she's heavy but better than a boat. 🌊 🎣🛶
Great info, I grew up fishing out of Flamingo and crossed the entire bay a few times. I’ll say it’s challenging and just takes the living experience to find deep spots and channels. I use google earth app which helps show where channels and deep spots are. Tides are key. Thanks for all the adventures I feel home sick now. Will be in Islamorada in two weeks, fishing the bay.
I guess it's like an unexpected road closure out West, where you find it's going to be an extra 30 miles. Well, it's good that he included the part in the car so we know he didn't die out there.... 😁
@@rebirth_mishap Yeah. Please explain yourself. You're the one saying the phases of the Moon don't affect the gravitational pull. Sure, that is technically true. Because it's still the same size and therefore still has the same pull. But.... That "same pull" is either canceled out or compounded by the Sun's pull depending whether the Moon is inline with the Sun and Earth or at a right angle of them..... So... The tides will 100% of the time be higher during full and no moon phases than it will be on quarter Moon phases (which look like a 1/2 moon). Now.... You are either uneducated about the Moon and it's effects on the Earth or you are a troll. If the former, you're welcome. If the latter,...... ha ha ha... So funny. You tricked me. Ha ha ha.
These types of videos are good learning experience for us watching. I got stuck for about an hour 🙃 - no fun!
Time to start doing videos with you catching fish again Steve! There has been a lot of this lately…

? What's is a "no go " Island?
you can not land on it, due to being a bird sanctuary
Protected wildlife preserve. No landing or going ashore.
Wander is New York a “no go” city
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Lots of pointing and no fishing. Really liked when this was a fishing channel. Especially for us who aren’t fortunate to live in the keys.
You seem spiritual. I like the connnection you got with nature. What are your religious beliefs?
