That was honestly the problem with the movie as well. It wasn’t bad, it definitely stayed true to the play, but the problem was that it had high profiled actors like Carol Burnett, Michael Cane, John Ritter, Christopher Reaves, you get the point. They’re all really good actors, but because they’re so good, it was hard for them to come off as flawed as a result.

They issue with these Broadway productions is that the actors look too polished and skilled to portray such flawed performers.
