Incredibly lucky more than anyone would realize just those of us very blessed with this very special time 1976 16 years old my first everything Bless those special days I long for them
Doobie Brothers sound just as good today. I saw them at a Casino in 2010 and was like, shit, they still great. In this Vid the kids were like WTH.... ua-cam.com/video/3VJsqcrieVA/v-deo.html Their moms were like, TALK TO THE HAND, we told you so.
I was just thinking the exact same thing. Amazing! I saw another very prominent 70s band in person last month and it was extremely disappointing, to say the least.
As a veteran guitarist and singer, performer, it would take a lot of dedication to reproduce such a masterpiece, if ever. It stands alone that these artist created one of a kind vocal arrangements couples enjoy with the decades they represent in this style of music. Always easy to listen to, refreshing the spirit.
omg...I'm speechless...this is the most under-recognized acoustic guitar intro ever tracked. Tremendous tune, and incredible vocals. There's a reason that tunes like this haven't been covered...they're too hard to replicate... period.
i'm 20. this is in my top 5 favourite songs of all time. was listening to spotify and it just came on out of nowhere. we've come a long way since the 70s, but damn was the music good
Very few can harmonize like this 😅to perfection. I can only think of maybe a few others like david crosby, and grahm nash, also seals and crofts. Back in the day when music was the real deal. No auto tune, gimmicks, just pure harmony and rhythm.
I'm an African American male that grew up in the inner city in Memphis,Tn.in the 60's&70's this is such a sweet, sweet song. I envision dancing with that special someone smelling her wonderful perfume or riding with the top down just her & me laughing & loving! When we grew up we didn't care what color u were,if the music was good we listened to it! I listened to everyone from Gary Puckett & the Union Gap to the Beatles,Motown, Lynard Skynard,The Stones etc. If it was good it was good,we didn't care! Life was simple, easy,& carefree! We had friends of all color & ethnicities,if u were cool then u were cool let's party! We didn't realize it then but those were the best yrs & times of our lives! I'm 66 yrs old now & I truly missed those days! I've got the parts y'all, lets build a time machine and go back for awhile😊 Love, peace & blessings to each and every one of u!✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
Beautiful job Lance! This performance is so great! RIP Larry!!! He would be very proud of his brother and this wonderful group Orleans still continuing on!
The song has always had a place in my heart ever since I heard it the first time when I was a kid in the 70s. To me it’s just one of those perfect songs.
I was born in 1986 but for some reason I love 70s and 80s music. This is one of the songs I keep on playing in my car. Very timeless. I love the blending of their voices.
One of the best songs of the 70’s in my 73 Mercury Capri Turbo 2.4 liter and installed Pioneer cassette stereo, an equalizer w/Lansing subwoofer. The life ! In 1976
Wow! Incredible. They sound as good now as the original studio version. Bassist has an incredible voice! Still. This song reminds me of how wonderful it was growing up with this music. I remember hearing this one when it first came out--loved it then and still love it now.
holy shit that was awesome. those vocals. amazing harmonies! Been playing music for 50 years and professionally for some of that and damn.....these guys are STILL killing it. still hitting all the notes. very impressive
Front Row From Left to Right...John Hall (co founding member)...Dennis Amero...Lance Hoppen (brother of co founder Larry Hoppen)... Back Row From Left to Right...Brady Spencer 9Drums/Unsure...?)...Lane Hoppen (brother of co founder Larry Hoppen)... Sadly Larry Hoppen took his own life in 2012 as I recall reading it... He left several really great tunes behind...R.I.P... Nice to see John back playing...
Excellent, excellent, excellent musical coordination!!! This stuff ain't easy. This live performance is the perfect example of musicians simultaneously using both sides of the brain!!! While singing flawless three and four part harmony (which is hard enough by itself), they are playing intricate guitar lead-rhythms, and the bass player is playing multiple notes and sliding on the bass like it's a fretless. Musicianship at its finest!!!
This makes me so sad...not because it sounds bad, but because Orleans are very special to me. When my dad turned 50 in 2001, I thought I would do something special. Orleans was/is his favourite band of all time, eventhough at that time Orleans wasnt the most wellknown in Europe. Naive as I was I thought, what if I could write an email to one of the members and ask for an autograph. A short while after the bands manager had forwarded my email to Larry Hoppen who took time to write me back several times. And after a very long time, since he was obviously very busy, he sent me a package, with the complete works of EVERYTHING that Orleans had ever made and still not released with written commentary to my dad, and autographs from the band members. This was such an amazing thing, and I promised to send him reaction pictures back from the birthday. When Instagram became a thing for me, after a long tour in USA as manager for a band in Denmark, I thought I would send him what I promised, only to find out that he died in 2012. 2 months before. I kept his legacy, his emails, his sweet words and a strong proof that he was a fantastic human being. I wish I could tell his family and his brother, that what he did, made a difference. He became a hero for me that day, just by being a great and compassionate human being. Mr. Larry Hoppen. - whatever made you leave this planet, wont change, that you are hero to me.
it would be incredible if you might consider getting with Lance and the band today... and see if the Spirit moves you'll for something like this if possible and all are willing, and could be publicly distributed... it would be a blessing to the WORLD!!! What a GIFT for your Dad and you!!
Gorgeous harmonies with all the rhythmic ornaments in sync. Lots of good arranging, lots of hard practice in that band. Always a little basakwards to watch a left handed player with a right handed guitar. Thanks fellas. Lots of great memories in your music. Great to see you're "Still the one"..:-)
I was hopelessly infatuated with a boy from school. I used to wait with bated breath to merely catch a glimpse of him. This song was my only solace. I'd listen every evening in my room imagining he would ask me to dance with him. To this day, I remember the longing, every time I hear this song. May God bless this band Orleans. Helped me through it.
Omg,they still sound WONDERFUL ,I’m listening in 2024 ,I’m 74 great memories.
Ditto.....awesome band. A better time for sure.
Very true, I'm 73 an it's just magical these melodies, harmonies, etc. 😮😮😊
Yes'um....I"m 76 and love real music and melodies. God bless@@susanroycroft89
Great Era of music!!!🎵
Music of the 70's was as special as the 70's were themselves. Hopefully when my time on earth is done I'll live eternally in the 70's.
It was more fun being 20 in the 70’s than it is being 70 in the 20’s
Truer words were never written!😩🤦♀️
This is why those of us who grew up with the music in the 70's were incredibly lucky.
Amen to that. We were blessed to grow up in the 70's with the singer songwriter movement. The songs are so well written and sung.
you better believe it!!
Incredibly lucky more than anyone would realize just those of us very blessed with this very special time 1976 16 years old my first everything Bless those special days I long for them
Well said! Couldn't agree more! ❤
Amen to that
I can't believe how rich their voices still are. This is unreal!!
Only one original band member.
@@rcjr1371 There are two of them from original band: John Hall and Lance Hoppen on this gig.
@@Necros_poselok I forgot about the late Larry Hoppen's brother Lance. It's an amazing song.
They are missing Larry Hoppen singing the high lead.
Beautiful, thank you so much, a Golden Jewel treasured song
at 82 i still remember the lyrics to most of their tunes. i've lived in the greatest era of rock and roll..............all classics.
You are correct sir!!!

Absolutely amazing group no matter what year!!!!

Amazing. their voice splits are still good for a band from the 70's.. bring me back to my teenager era.. - Greeting from Indonesia...

Wow .. what an amazing live performance, especially after all these years. They are the best

Thanks for sharing your story. Great band, in my opinion.
Im only 8 years old when i started listening to this kind of music, of the 70s. And now im 26.
Don't leave the bunker! Music from your time period lost to the robots and all the humans are dead.
Wow 😮 , You still sound awesome 😎 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 7, 2024 and loving the music still..

What talent 👏
They deserve their name.
The bassist really nailed Larry Hopen vocals 😢❤❤
It's his brother Lance Hoppen. Lance joined the band in 1972.
