If you want to be completely prototypical, the turret should be pointing to the rear of the tank for transport (train, air, or truck). It doesn't look as cool, but that's I have always seen and it allows you maximize space as cargo. Thanks for sharing!
Awsom job on weathering the brand new long tresel Eric' flaking old green paint look! Its nice to just see a pure run video. You deserve a long break and enjoy all your hard work' i'm sure at times when you do great ideas come to mind when you don't think to fast and hard. Very much fun to watch' no tutorial nesessary its all self explanitory! GREAT JOB!!
Awesome. Nothing beats the swinging bell..... Nice shot of the pine tree in the foreground of your On30 runby. Love the whistle on the Blue Goose and the Black Diamond.
Just an observation on your last train with the tanks, the turret is normally rail loaded facing the back deck center. Looks great looking at getting a set of tanks myself.
Sometimes it's just FUN to run trains! I enjoyed watching this video. I saw some cars that I didn't know you had. Plus, I saw some cars that I have too. Fun to watch.... Thanks!
Great video as usual. Not to be a stickler for details but as a former Abrams tank crewman I thought you should know you have the turrets pointed in the wrong direction. When you rail transport an Abrams the turret is pointed backwards and the gun barrel is locked into horizontal position. You'd also never have the machine guns on the roof due to theft concerns.
Wow! I love how eclectic you were! Those were very spectacular locomotives, and you had very prototypical lashups. I enjoy the Pennsy style portals, it definantly adds a lot of character to your layout. A couple Pennsy dublexi emegrging from those tunnels would look great!
Great video...nice to see the trestle in the back round...all the work pays off looking forward to next session maybe some yard switching and train makeup.
i love trains i found a old HO set in good will most of it was there missing a few wheels so i could only run 3 cars at time, anyhow i set it up on the living room floor and watch it go around for hours :) the cat love it but my kids two boys 15 and 12 thought i was out my mind, they play with it a for 5 mins and that was that lol . times where so difrint when i was kid in 70`s :) i feel old
PS; I noticed that on one of your engine reviews, the noise was in the front, the smoke acted in sink with the engine speed and activity. I do not need a 24" long train, if some were a little smaller. I don't think the 700E is quite that big. I typical like the steam engine, My father took us every weekend to watch them in Washington DC, before that were taken out of service. I also thought that it might be cool to get trains that ran in DC/ Balt. and NY and maybe do a layout based on a real DC one. We had GG1's. Many yards with cranes etc. remember the military was here during the war. My Father was in the Coast Guard and Capt. of a sub chaser. We had a set up in the basement circa 1950's. I also met Raymond Loewy when my father built Lord and Taylor in Chevy Chase. He designed their stores......I am a metal worker and can build things to scale , like the trestle bridges you show in your sets. I don;t know how much they cost, but I can make then in metal, to scale. What is the scale for these sets, I meant to ask you that.
Love the Reading Diamond and the double-headed and reversed Mallets. Great video with tons of rolling stock. Do you have the matching passenger set for the Reading?
that orange southern pacific engine was called "The Daylight Express". AND its original number is 4449 not4415! look it up on google or youtube it by "tough guys.
Correction, #4449 is only one of about 60 or 70 engines in the GS class family. 4415 is an accurate road number for the GS2 class engines rostered by the Southern Pacific
I like making things look somewhat prototypical, but then again I'm using 3-rail track so there's also just a "fun" element there. I seriously considered running a lash-up consisting of one of my european steam engines, an american modern diesel engine and then an american steam engine taking up the rear....just to mess with people.
Awsome with the tanks. You got anymore army loads like that or other vehicles nice vid did like the army switcher but I have never seen the camo UP machine before
Eric, the turrets on the M1's are in the wrong direction. Turrets are always in 6 o'clock position during rail and truck transport, as the barrel can be secured and the turret locked. The chains go over cross in the tie downs in the front and back of the hull, not over the tank before and aft of the turret like a piece of poorly secured cargo.
That's useful information, not something I would of though about before. I went and started looking up videos of trains with tanks on them XD. It's little details like that I like to look for when it comes to model railroading.
Hello Eric: I'm new to the model railroad hobby and I would like to ask. When you have more than one locomotive pulling a train, do all of the locomotives pull the train and the main locomotive has the sounds? Or does the main locomotive do all the pulling?
13 Endercreeper it depends. Usually with diesels, there could be a non-powered unit as well as a powered unit, or even just both powered, as a lash-up. There aren’t any non-powered Steam locomotives that I’m aware of, so you’d usually just do a lash-up as well. Hope this helped!

In 13:20, it says it's a 2662, however it's a 2882, it was probably a tipo or just a mistake, Eric Seagal is a super train expert!
the katy texas special sd70a, the santa fe blue goose, the lionel vision line 700e and the up dd35a have beautiful sounding whistles and horns.
I love the way you shoot your videos it makes the layout look like it’s a real ray road
Wow, I feel like I'm trackside. I like your regular vids, but every now and then one of good solid running is nice to see!
I agree to bad it doesn’t happen often
Awesome. Nothing beats the swinging bell..... Nice shot of the pine tree in the foreground of your On30 runby. Love the whistle on the Blue Goose and the Black Diamond.

Wonderful video as usual Eric! You are very talented and I appreciate all you do and have done for our hobby. Looking forward to part 2.
Why the dislikes? This is one of your best videos! A lot of action and variety, one of my favorite parts was probably the back-to-back Mallets.
Sometimes it's just FUN to run trains! I enjoyed watching this video. I saw some cars that I didn't know you had. Plus, I saw some cars that I have too. Fun to watch.... Thanks!
Absolutely beautiful footage. The scenery is really impressive and the locomotives of every kind are awesome. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

Nice video Eric , the Blue Goose is my favorite and the shay has a great whistle thanks for sharing

Very cool, I really like how realistic it looks and sounds.
Great video...nice to see the trestle in the back round...all the work pays off looking forward to next session maybe some yard switching and train makeup.
I forgot to ask, did the deer jumping across the Shay make it? lol Love it.
No, there's no prototypical example that I'm aware of. I was just having some fun. It took about a week to make the video.
The all American RR, great video! Hard work really pays off, very impressive.
This is basically the first video I watched when I found ericstrains
I love the scene where you have your two C&O mallets back to back.
Great video Eric! Nice smoke action the all of the locomotives. You have a fine assortment of rolling stock too. Way to go!!
Awesome running video Eric! Looking forward to part 2.
" Well Eric, your camera skill`s and this Vid are TOP-NOTCH ! "
16:11 Just imagine seeing that consist rolling down the track... LOL.

I agree.
Super Layout, Just the best I have seen.

Good to know, thanks.
16:56- awesome snowplow and genset switcher!
Those Conrail coal hoppers are really nice!
Breath taking....
Awesome video, you have a nice collection of locomotives and cars!
i love trains i found a old HO set in good will most of it was there missing a few wheels so i could only run 3 cars at time, anyhow i set it up on the living room floor and watch it go around for hours :) the cat love it but my kids two boys 15 and 12 thought i was out my mind, they play with it a for 5 mins and that was that lol . times where so difrint when i was kid in 70`s :) i feel old
I have a magazine that shows all 20 NS heritage units. The VGN 1069 is painted exactly like their FM H24-66s.
UP999 is NOT clear ahead. Bridge is out!!! hahaha... Love it Eric! Most excellent and by far some of the best video's on youtube.
I wish that towercom the Santa Fe Blue Goose said "Now arriving from Chicago on Track #1, Train #23 The Blue Goose."
So jealous of your layout. Wish that you had an open house the last week of August because I was on vacation in the Atlanta area. Oh well.
Nice selection on the Black Diamond, Eric!
Great vid Eric i really enjoyed watching this. do you have a camera that goes inside an engine yet? that would make for some cool video

Very well done as always.
i was never a fan of the gensets but there growing on me.

Love the Reading Diamond and the double-headed and reversed Mallets. Great video with tons of rolling stock. Do you have the matching passenger set for the Reading?

Awsome with the tanks. You got anymore army loads like that or other vehicles nice vid did like the army switcher but I have never seen the camo UP machine before
Great video as usual. Thanks for sharing this Eric, made my day!
Ethan
You have MTH subway cars?? Never knew, looks funny being pulled right behind two C&O articulated coupled tender to tender. Nice models though!
Very nice Eric.
I like the lehigh valley black diamond!
Nice to see some rail action for a change Eric. Do you think that buck will make that jump? I see rail venison .
Great video Eric
Anyone in 2024

Hello from Kansas 🇺🇸
Hello
Nice video, I've watch your progress since the beginning. makes me want to switch to O-scale. post a overall view of the layout.
you spelled staytuned like staybtuned. and I like this video.
Very nice, what flat cars are you using with the M1 Tanks and who makes the tanks?
Nice camera angles.
Excelente video master....podrías subir más de vapor big boy
Well done. When is the next update?
At 13:18 that locomotive is a 2-8-8-2, not a 2-6-6-2. Just pointing it out.
Good job looks great
I like the heritage engines
Eric, it's time to upload part 2 :3
