Mr. McGee, your resentment is duly noted. The mere fact the film has been transferred to digital changes the experience, so does the frame-doubling, the composting of the two records together...nothing will take the place of experiencing these early experiments in person. Our intention is not to replace history, rather to make this record available and viewable to a new generation-in a new medium.

As years go by, Technicolour did improve the colour schemes of films, though do take note that they did start out with only red and green first, and they had to redesign cameras, equipment and other things so that they can suit any theatre out there during the time period (during the time they could only use the equipment in their own specialized laboratories, not theatres)

I was thinking about something that might sound a bit odd. Since the frames were slightly off from each other, couldn't one put on a pair of 3D glasses (the blue and red filter kind) and see these films in 3D?

    0:21 - 0:25 don't watch that part if you're prone to epilepsy.

      Good.
If you squint it'll look vaguely

Phobias, morals and shame aside... thank you for presenting this.
It occurs to me that an even better recapture might be done now with the "motion prediction" ability of post programs like After effects. That tool can create new frames in between existing frames of footage for a slo-mo effect. However, for your purpose perhaps that could be used to create a new frame inbetween the existing frames of, say, the green channel. Those images would be more nearly aligned in time to the accompanying red channel and possibly present less color fringing.
The process could be reversed to create inbetweens from the red channel to add to the existing green frames. All could be combined to have the full 32 fps in substantially improved color registration.

The film “Banks Of The Nile” (1911) directed by Charles Urban is shot entirely in kinemacolor

Allegedly there have been made about a thousand films in Kinemacolor, fifty of which or so have survived.

Thank you for this clip. As a kid I often looked at the KinemaColor equipment at the (London) Science Museum in South Kensington. Just intrigued as to the source material. Would love to know where it came from? Thanks.

Well pure blue and green blue or teal can become confusing .After seeing surviving two color films that did not use art direction that was blue green or teal then you see a movie that used blue green you get confused that it's blue. A gram of on with the show revealed a blue green back ground ,but Mystery of the wax museum did not use any blue green

May I ask what is this song? Sounds a little bit like Ragtime to me 1:00 - 1:39

Where did you find the footage at
1:12? I've seen the other shots elsewhere but not that one

Great question-the footage for this video came from 2 16mm Castle film compilations: #501 "Yesterday Lives Again" and #504 "Gay '90s Live Again"

@@DeBergeracProd Interesting, thanks for getting back to me. I'm working through quite a large quantity of Kinemacolor footage at the moment that I've found in various compilation films. You can see most of the New York footage on my second channel: ua-cam.com/video/gettPJ1sXH4/v-deo.html

Shame on you .you revision the green side ,electronically by adding blue to it.you changed history. Morally you had no right to.What is you phobia against pure red and green? It hurts your eyes? You just as bad as Warner brother or Samuel Goldwyn company who took the 1930 film whoopee and changed the green parts for blue, for the d.v.d version. All of you need to show the way things were or just don't be int rested in history .show history the way it was .No stereo conversion to mono
