I love this channel. No flash or pizazz. Just training future technicians out there. Not like some other transmission channels that just toot their own horn and make clickbait headlines for views.
Thank you Hiram for taking the time to share your knowledge with all of us who seek to learn. I always review your content whenever I go into a unfamiliar unit. I do have a request, could you let us know the manufacturer of some of the special tools you use, especially the drum test tool seen here? Thank you for all the knowledge you’ve shared.
Thank you for your videos, very informative and dont say that you dont have the instructor lingo. You Got it Brother! When you air check the 1,2,3,4 with the tool and it leaks from the CF while checking it! Is that normal? I have disassembled it and checked all of the O-rings and found them to be ok. Any clues on this? And no cracked pistons or bad weld!
Question for you, I rebuilt a 6l80, it originally came in with 456 smoked, installed all new pistons, frictions, rebuilt pump with oversized sonnax pr valve. Updated valve body with transgo kits, re-used techum. I always install a brand new 1234 drum. Vehicle came back month later with 456 burnt up pretty good. Air checked drum it is fine. Installed new frictions and steels put back together worked fine. Within a month came back with same failure. Went ahead and got a different valve body and transferred shift kit valves. Put back in Vehicle and shifts perfect. I'm hoping the valve body was the culprit for burning 456 clutch only. Will have to wait and see if it stays out. Any thoughts on the reoccurring 456 failure?
I had a similar failure with one that was having a double bump on the 2-3 shift when hot. The more you drove it the worse it got. At that time I had 3 on the bench. This was a 2017 with a lot of miles. It eventually burned the 3-5-reverse frictions. I used pump, both drums and valve body of a 2018 with a 4.3L. And still having issues. Ended up being the TECHM. Installed the TECHM from the 4.3L and worked flawlessly. Returned the TECHM to the original truck, got a new one for the stubborn one and out she went. Sometimes when you check and recheck everything it ends up being something that you might think is okay.
I have 2, one is from Mac Tools and the red one is ATD. But you have to buy the tip adapter separately. They are Kent-Moore. Don't know the part number, it's been years since I bought them.

Hiram, Who's large snap ring pliers are you using? I like the ratchet type.

Big money in transmission repair right now
Were are you located ?
Sir I, need Book of automatic transmission gear, tell me me how can I get it sir.
Have you tried eBay or Amazon? You can find manuals there. Mostly in English.
What kind of tune you recommend for the transmission 6L80, I want to lock up only in a high gear
I'll be posting a video with HPtuners soon.
