Hey everyone! This is Sarah Gross, director of Boléro. Thank you for taking the time to watch our film. I’m excited to hear your thoughts and happy to answer any questions!
Hi Sarah! I have a handful. How long was filming for this, where was it done? What was your thinking using the sandy-colored color tone throughout, as opposed to the typical (and in my opinion overused) dark, shadowy lighting used often in such dystopian stories? Was it to compliment Maya’s red hair, like “her world” so to speak? Was the older woman in the restaurant a relative of someone on the crew? (I can usually sense a family member used as extras in film-I guess it’s my mental power! XD) Who was cast first: Farrah Mackenzie as young Maya or Larsen Thompson as older Maya, and how uncanny did you think they looked like each other when the casting director found the second one? Why was Maya taping her belly up before her contact showed up? Had she recently been in an attack/conflict? Was the same building used for all the shots? It looks interesting especially later in the film with the wide tunnels and open dining hall. Thanks for this opportunity!
Damnnn! I was so engrossed in this short film that I didn't want it to end.I hope in the near future that this short film could get crowd funded to make it a full length film.

Bolero is an incredibly well written, directed, acted, and produced film. It is a taut, exciting, and disturbing story of a dystopian not-too-distant future with chilling overtones of what already is happening in American society. Kudos, Sarah Gross!

This film was a 17 and a half minute masterclass in making a futuristic, dystopian sci-fi action thriller which was fast-paced, gritty, hard-hitting and sharp as a razor. BRAVO to all concerned in making this, it was truly top notch and left me wanting more without too many unanswered questions.
This is absolutely one of the Top 10 best SciFi shorts on DUST! This is Academy Award level excellence. Brilliant acting and original story line. Amazingly captured in a short video.
Caught me by surprise when she stood up and turned and belted him good. When she took out the ones tasked to learn about who sent her and then end her was excellent fight scene. Avenged her fathers murder. Well done.

Plus how they wrote the female lead to overcome in a way that's actually empowering. This deserves to be feature length

Dust never disappoints. This was a terrific movie short with great acting, edge of your seat action and a great story that, in my opinion, can be applied to what's happening in the US today which is intriguing and kinda scary at the same time. This is once again another movie short that could be turned into a sci-fi series or full length feature film. And if it did I'll be first in line to watch it at a theater or at home.
Jus want to commend you Sarah for this fine film that packed a punch in under 1/2 hour. I'm really enjoying "condensed"movies like yours that hold ones attention and isn't filled with bs just to fill time.Very well done!
Amazingly well done, and not entirely implausible. Enhanced synthetic telepathy has actually been a topic seriously considered by some, with the caveat that if this became possible, it's very likely it would be used by military or "law enforcement". But whatever the future might be, this was an excellent production, the actors fit perfectly.
Although it seemed very much in tune with the dystopian environment by Mr. Orwell's 1984 and the Thought Police, this was certainly a very nice production of that similar premise. It was also easy for the viewer to make the connection between the little girl and the grown woman and we were rooting for her all the way. I, for one, would like to see you coax this into a continuation as it has many possibilities for twists and turns in its plot! Very nice work!!
Fight scenes are really tough to get right. The scenes in this short were palpable. Great job! The story was great and had a lot of twists and nuances.
THAT was excellent! I'm sure that cost a few dollars to produce. But it was well worth it! Amazing writing, acting, direction, and sound! That was first rate! Great story and great work! I look forward to more.
So good. I wish Sarah Gross would consider being the Director of the Star Wars space opera, casting Larsen Thompson as the storyline’s hero. Unbelievably excellent acting, such an intense presence, so much talent for easily handling the lead role - I absolutely would start watching the post-LucasFilm movies again. For what it’s worth, plain and average me, a humble fan of great stories and acting, will watch Ms. Thompson’s and Ms. Gross’ careers with great interest. Again, so good! Thank you for sharing, my imagination loved it. Oh, and the title and the song…I grew up listening to Bolero many, many, many times. But it had faded somewhat from me until ‘rediscovering’ it listening to the amazing and famous Mexican Conductor, Alondra de la Parra, conducting Ravel’s Bolero, performed by the WDR Sinfonieorchester. I’m not sure of the backstory for the title of your film, but I certainly liked it.

Great job! The story was great and had a lot of twists and nuances.
good story, actors, director, camera, ... may the force be with you.
THAT was excellent! I'm sure that cost a few dollars to produce. But it was well worth it! Amazing writing, acting, direction, and sound! That was first rate! Great story and great work! I look forward to more.
Wow!!! This makes me like the Bolero even more than I already did! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I am surprised and impressed, the heroine got wounds after being hit in the face many times. It's not normal in movies. Edit: DUST makes it better 👀
It's great, the story feels like I had always imagined Babylon 5's Psi corps and the psychic underground starting
What a great story and so well acted by the beautiful young girl and her wonderful older self!
We need a longer full length version. And Larsen was awesome as always.
This is amazing. How do you come up with this stuff, I went to go see one of the films in a local cinema recently and this stuff never gets old.
One of my favorite musical pieces.
What a Story. Thanks, Sarah, to you and your team.
That actress has it all! Wow!
Hmmmm ,,,,, life imitating art , or art imitating life ????
The argument could go both ways on this one !!!
Outstanding job telling that story in 17:24
Excellent story. Very engaging lead character. Who led the viewer on a fight against Big Brother! I loved it.
Love red heads this girl is stunning. And her father, when she was young, looks very talented .... would love to see more of him.
