In this diy video, the corner post on the timber frame cabin was water damaged at the bottom. It's repaired and we are laying rock veneer and building a retaining wall to help protect it now from any further weather related damage.

I appreciate that you don't feel the need to talk constantly in your videos & no music or little music!! There's enough noise in our world today!! Just the sounds of nature around you & your machines & watching your talent - that's perfect!! Thank you!! ❤️
Your labs in that water were so cute!! 👍💖
Thanks!
Loved this video thanks. Nice idea to save foundation. God bless you and your family.
OH MAN - you do a mighty fine job on that rock work!!! It looks fantastic!
Thanks, Ted! Hey. Question. What did the mama cow say to the baby cow?! ….It’s pasture bedtime! -Jennifer
I was stumped on how you were going to be able to place the logs in the retaining wall in such a confined space for the tractor.
Your solution was just BRILLANT !!!!!
He is brilliant for sure. I couldn’t believe what he had in mind, haha. Sometimes I wonder why he stole all the family smarts! 🤣🤣 Thanks for following! -Jennifer
Your Rock Foundation is looking great! Looks like you are coming along with your retaining wall! Keep Up The Great Work Richard 👌

Looks good Richard, hope it does the job for you and keeps the water from flowing to the house. That Tractor sure lightens the load from you with the grapple and other attachments. You all stay safe and keep up the good videos and having fun around there. Fred.

Gourmet breakfast. Looks great! Tractor and grapple handles those logs like they weigh nothing at all. Creek time is always fun time. The dogs just love that water!
Those grapples make it look effortless, huh? That creek is like crack to Smoky and Dolly. I think they love it more than they love my Dad! Lol. -Jennifer
Richard, nobody can ever say that you are afraid of labor intensive jobs. Everything you build is amazing. That wall looks great! Take care and GOD Bless.

@@SmokyMountainOutpost
you're welcome Jennifer
Boy as hard as that soil is maybe should have considered a French drain in that area too. Just kind of looks that way to me and I've heard you mention lot of clay in your area. 👍
It is hard as a rock at times! -Jennifer
Now that you have the post in for the back deck, where will the steps go?
That is to be determined… Good question tho! -Jennifer
fried potatoes are a welcome addition to break fast my experience says bake them by the dozen and fry them later ...Great source of fuel in the am terrible in the pm...
Nice! Might have to try that. So baking them and then frying them, does that change the flavor at all? -Jennifer
@@SmokyMountainOutpost for the better i think...cook the raw ingredients first and then place potatoes in the juices set their crust just perfect...they fracture less and soak up the flavors...
Richard retaining wall should help you a lot. do you have plans for putting in a drainage line too?
He does. Jonathan will be back up there to dig the french drain (?) out soon. -Jennifer
don't need to worry about the freeze thaw cycles pulling the concrete and posts up? looks great
Our freeze line is six inches. As long as we are below that we are okay
Hey, GM Jennifer!! What do you call a tree with lots and lots of babies swinging from every limb?
The INFANTry!! 🤣🤣
I love it! What did the mama cow say to the baby cow? It’s pasture bedtime! -Jennifer

Hi Richard ,Tom Julian here the glass window guy. I was wondering what ever happened to the nice young man Patrick that always came up to help you? Thanks
Tom!!!!! We have missed you! How in the world are you?! Patrick has really had to delve in to his studies to graduate college. He has a full time teaching position waiting on him when he is done. Thanks for asking! -Jennifer
Thanks Jennifer,if you see him let him know I asked. I wish I lived closer, I would see you guys all the time. Maybe I can make it back up there some day. Take care and God bless.
Would it not have been faster to run the logs through the sawmill for a tight more uniform fit? Cuts out the step of having to remove the bark . . .
He had thought about that in the beginning, but the logs were so crooked by the time he was able to get them “straight” he would have lost a lot of wood. -Jennifer
🎉
👍🏴
and when we premiered that work of art of, smoker
Thanks!
Their is nothing like having bacon and eggs for breakfast!!!!!!
Preach! Good stuff! -Jennifer
Yep , almost 3 years ago. “You need a retaining wall behind your house “ response “it’s slate rock no need” just saying.
Slate rock? We have shale. They are two different types technically. I think you are meaning shale though. It is not so much the shale has given away, it is more so the red clay dirt has broken down by being walked on often and from the rain. Of course erosion occurs naturally. It wasn’t something he figured he would need. We live and we learn. I don’t think it helped building the garden there and that could be one of the greater reasons erosion occured. Our previous 2 houses he built himself didn’t require one. Both were red clay/shale mix as well. I agree that you had a good idea! Thanks for following! -Jennifer
🇳🇴👌👌👍
Thanks!
I think I would of just rented a bulldozer and graded it more! All that work and it will just rot out in a few years! but each to his own!
We can always replace it again with free materials. I figured it would last about 10 years. And, gives me something to do
the locusts are screaming this year ....they will quiet soon
