My online father. This man really was the father of UA-cam. The connections we make with people on UA-cam are SO real and I feel that the way he talked to the camera was so positive and warm. He gave life tips and positive quotes that really did lift millions of peoples days. You look back and their videos literally got 3-10s of millions of views and shows his impact of what this world and internet desperately needs: love, family and compassion.

Not gonna lie, still to this day I touch the freakin' outside of the airplane. It does make me feel all safe. I also check the ashtrays for coins. Shay has inlaid some stuff into my brain, I guess he's like a father to me, not really sure how sad/happy is that.
Ive been watching the shaytards since I was a younginnn & they first started out, shay dancing in his leotard & making mini skits. My family wasnt very loving nor there for me much to teach me how to live n be kind. I am now almost 24 years old, I have 2 wonderful children- 5 year old son & 6 month old daughter. I am a kind patient loving fun mother & I literally attribute ALL of it to you. The Shaytards vlogs taught me how a proper loving family should look like.. I am so thankful for that, so thankful for YOU- I literally would not be who I am today! I pray you n your family find your way back 🌻❤️

More than anything I want for Shay to be at peace within himself. I met him and his sister in Toronto and was really star struck. He is the reason I watch vlogs but there’s never been a comparable daily vlogger. I’ve been here since before Brock’s birth.

Touching the outside of the airplanes for at least 5 years now, all because of you. It's about giving your love and attention to something. Thank you Shay for that, and for all the other things you did to showcase love in this world.
Remember 10 years ago, doing the radio show and selling granite. Your inspiration for making your 30th year something great. You built an empire following on UA-cam. The shaytards. You did it being happy and making each day the best day of the rest of your life. I was 19 when I started watching, and now, well let’s make this upcoming year one of the best for me! Seeing this video brought back a lot of memories, from jumping from bed to bed in the hotel room to touching the outside of the plane (I actually do this one every time because of you guys!). I grew up with the Shaytards and relate a lot of moments from my life with Shaytards vlogs, from the debt free scream and "best spot in the lot" to the yearly Christmas specials and Rocktard being born. I miss the videos of you and your family, and seeing your outlook on life. I still think to myself every once in a while "The secrets to life are hidden behind the word 'cliche'".
I guess I just wanted to say thank you for all of the memories Shay and I hope you know that you and your family's story means a lot to a lot of people. I hope I can see more of you guys in the near future!

Shaytards is good for family videos, but this is what made me want to watch you on BlogTV all those years ago, your energy and how you made anything entertaining, you should start doing a show with guests, a sort of Z103 show but for the UA-cams! I just recently spent a semester living in Burbank studying and doing an internship (with Kevin Lyman:)) I spent a good amount of days at Santa Monica and Venice and I just can’t get over the scenic view and the people. It felt like home to be there. Now I’ve graduated college and I’m trying to get my first job back out there so I can be back to feeling myself again.

These videos have me so torn and emotional. Literally holding back tears. The memories and nostalgia are so overwhelmingly wonderful to think about. It's hard to see these videos knowing what has happened thinking of the way things use to be, and knowing that they aren't likely to go back to how things were before. I made a video that Shay saw. I moved to LA because of Shay and other inspiring content creators that made videos prior to 2013 (moved back to Oregon 8 months later to chase a girl). Like others have said, Shay was truly an online father figure for so many. The Shaytards channel was a place I knew I could go for positivity and inspiration. I met Shay and revealed I was wearing his co branded Volcom shirt under my buttoned up dress shirt since it was a sort of professional industry talk thing that Shay happened to be speaking at. Again walked by at VidCon 2013 and ever so briefly conversed. These videos aren't just nostalgia of a different time in Shay's life, but they bring me back to a happy time in my life. These videos are wonderful, but hard to watch because I just want everything to go back to how they were. I want to be back in LA and I want Shay to have his old life back. Hearing Shay so "remember when..." over and over feels so good and hurts so much at the same time. I'm happy to see Shay back and wish nothing but the best
