The writers don't go the extra mile to make her character funny or arrogant. This is who she is, she doesn't need to do something convoluted or have the greatest comedic timing for people to like her character, and I love it.
She had that one line where she said to Janine “Girl you know I just be talking you ain’t figure that out yet?” 😂. She’s incompetent at being a principle but she’s got street smarts and clap backs that can punch a hole through the earth. She has big sister energy, which can be useful for when dealing with kids that age.
While Ava’s character is of course exaggerated…having a new principal that is BAD at her job is unfortunately the reality for a lot of schools. I love this show for making fun of our terrible reality lol 😂
The two funniest / stand-out moments of the show: 1) Ava being shocked that students come to school at 7:30 every morning. 2) Ava not knowing what HR is. Janelle is a great comedian. They could not have chosen a better actor to portray Ava.
