- How do API's work? You hear about API's a lot, but what are they? What impact to APIs make for the day to day internet user? API's (Application Program Interface) are actually quite simple. You can use them as building blocks to speed up the process of making your own app. But API's also are used to share one part of a platform (like Google Maps) with other apps (like Yelp, Uber, etc).

What are examples of APIs you think you've come across while using apps?
The awful Twitter API. I used it for a school project and it was a nightmare getting authentication.
Some of the more recent ones I am using include QISKIT API (more specifically qiskit-api-py, for IBM's quantum computing environment API's and SDK). Others include a few AI (Artificial Intelligence) API's: Google's Cloud AutoML various Watson API 's from IBM, some API.AI's AI libs, and the Clarifai.AI API.
It is so cool how open people in the AI related software development arena have become, in that the amount of sharing and collaborative tech advancement via API and source code. It is so broad and deep that it is now often credited as helping to usher in a massive resurgence in open source API's and sharing in general. I tend to agree, as I haven't seen this amount of API, code and data sharing before in my almost 45 years of software development. If you are not following what is going on in AI related to API's and such (and all of the great sharing going on), you may enjoy: www.computerworld.com/article/3120773/application-development/artificiai-intelligence-apis-and-the-transformation-of-computer-science.html as well as I am sure plenty of other links available.
Where r u..?
Continue.....🙇
Twilio has many APIs ..... and LendingTree does as well...
I really wish you teached online classes, like Python and other computer languages for Dyslexics people like me!!!!
Randomly clicking on your UA-cam video is one of the best decisions I have made so far
dude, this is freaking cool! LEGOs are a GREAT way to illustrate complicated tech stuff.
Thanks WWW! More to come!
I love how you just GET TO THE POINT. No drawn out intro clip. No "blooper" cuts thinking its cute. Just straight TO THE POINT. And you are gorgeous, what a triple threat. Thank you!
Got an interview tomorrow for a Tech position and you're making all these terms so clear and I had absolutely no clue! :) If I pass I owe you a dinner!
This was the first API explainer vid I actually understood. Thanks!
This video speaks my language when it comes to my understanding of APIs. Thank you so much for your video.
Loving how you break down these tech terms!!
I recently subscribed to your channel because of your SQL video. Love your teaching style and real-world analogies. You make this stuff so fascinating.
Thanks, Danielle. I was scratching my head when I came across the term API and you made it simple to understand with lego! Just love it!
Informative, concise, intelligent, brief, full of energy and let's be honest: awesome smile, beautiful eyes, great hair and terrific LEGO's skills!
Great information, I'm currently going back to coding and there are so much new things to learn that my college professors never taught us. Really nice video. Gave the insights I need about API's and I'm looking forward to being able to use them in the site that I'm building.
Thank you for your help, Danielle! After a lots of videos, yours made me to finally understand.
Andrei Butnărașu thank you! And let me know if there are other topics you would like covered!
this is the best and most simple explanation ive found. good job
Another great video explaining some very important, but commonly misunderstood, or unknown-to-most technology driving our information age. Keep up the great videos!
Nice job. One thing though, API stands for Application Programming Interface (not “Program”).
Just found your channel, it is epic - thank you!
Your Lego computer is amazing!
I am obsessed with LEGO! Maybe in my next video I use the virtual LEGO you showed me
You really need to keep this channel going! I love it ❤️❤️❤️
I watch your videos while I have dinner! hahahaa makes my life better :)
I use API for business partners all the time, just to stay on topic!
Ha! Awesome! I appreciate that you watch, even when you already use APIs! Are you in the tech industry too?
hahahah you wrote good
Simple and precise! Keep up the good work
Thank you Shujath Hussain!
Cool! Nice Way to explain APIs using LEGO.Very Creative :D
Great explanation - thank you!
Thank you for your knowledge! You have a brilliant mind I would like to donate to the development of your mind and your company. No joke! Great video!
Your explanations are very helpful for short term references
Wow..that 3rd point really hit me..if you elaborate more how they collect info. From us when we interact with their API and collect data from their server. Many thanks for posting these wonderful informative videos..I just subscribed and hit the Bell icon :)
Thank you Danielle! This is explained really well!
I was working for a company which developed its own sets of API and when I was supporting the devs which had access to our endpoint, I was using the browser's console to see exactly their API request structure, to know what they did wrong. I don't know if in all the websites you can actually see the API request in the console, or was just something specific that our programmers did.
Hi danielle ,I really like your videos they are so informative ,plz I do want to understand more about APIs if you have more documents thank you
Keep up the good work!
Your channel is phenomenal, continua così!
Ok! After watching your video, i just subscribed to your channel. Merry Christmas!
I like how you use the legos for explanation :)
Well explained. good job!!
Great Channel very well and clearly explained
Mam you have good teaching skills
thank youu it helps a lot!
now that's a very good tutorial
So if i build a platform made with other platform APIs would they collect date from my platform about my users? Or is it agreeable?
Your explanation is just cool and easy to understand. How blessed we are to learn complex concepts from a stylish hot woman like you..
perfect video. now i get it.
Thanks David! Let me know what else you might want covered as a topic on this channel!
Great explanation! Thanks! Quick question: does my system or program require different code for every website or app I'd want to interface with? For example, do i need separate code to instruct it to go get FB's api, then different instructions for gathering google api data, etc.? Im asking bc, if so, then would it be simpler to create an AI method for recognizing the type of API data required so that it would automatically go and get it through one section of code instead of creating multiple different sets of instructions, if that makes sense? I guess it would be a "smart scraper" but built just for seeking out appropriate APIs. Im a noob so forgive me if my question is ignorant.
Excellent... and wonderful!
Thanks Hubrix! Let me know what topics you want covered!
Off the top of our collective heads... We'd love to see videos from you about: "What is DevOps?" (good luck explaining *that* with Lego) - "What are microservices?" -- and last (OK this one's a bit selfish) "What is Access Control?" -- P.S. We are huge fans of your work and we tell all our friends about you. xoxo
Thank you.
APIs ARE awesome!
Great explanation.. Keep it 👆
Can API be used between programs written in different languages?
Your videos are awesome

I really don't like that you constantly look aside. Looks like you are reading a script and that you are not sure about what you are talking :(
