YOU MUST WATCH his band, The Big Push, doing "I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/HipHop" - it's a live performance busking on the streets. It's AMAZING!!
Yeeeees! Would be so cool ❤️
Thanks guys! He said this video comes before animal flow where the kidnapped guy is shown tied up in the beginning.
Oh wow... as much as I Love Rens work... I wish he'd have waited to maintain continuity!!!
Either way ... Ren is changing the Game!!!
@@jhoop842 Ren trusts his fans to figure it out. I like this more than straight line continuity. Ren is everything except point A to point B
Makes sense but damn he’s wild. Story telling, being able to just be an overall performer. He’s everything and it’s crazy.
Is it Animal Flow or Money Game?
@@darthjoosboxx6267 He said Animal Flow, but he also said it is all connected in his head, so who knows apart from Ren himself? Maybe it’s both!
I just want to say about the Jamaican and Carribbean influences.
The windrush generation were a group of immigrants from the Caribbean that came to the UK in around the late 1940s to around the 1970s.
Their culture was ingrained into British culture so much so that a lot of British slang is basically Jamaican slang. We also gained a lot of musical inspiration from them and thats why Bob Marley is held in such high regard here.
And to further add on, one of the most iconic artists Britain have produced is Eddy Grant, a British Guyanese artist who also influenced a generation.
I'd recommend checking out Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant also check out some songs by Skindred they're a welsh metal band fronted by a Welsh Jamaican singer so i wouldnt be surprised if Ren was heavily influenced by them as he's also Welsh.
Thanks a lot! Now i can say to my friend that he isn't just trying to imitate the style. I knew Ren had it had some kind of reasoning to it, or heritage etc.
@@napitedella7416 Carribean/Jamaican culture is really ingrained in the UK. Major UK genres (think Ska Punk, Jungle/Drum 'n Bass, Grime, etc...) are directly a product from that influence and also why UK MC's are more like Jamaican toasters than being like US hip hop MC's because of SoundSystem culture and such. This track in particular is inspired by Barrington Levy's Murderer, someone who had big succes in the UK and who also got sampled a lot inJungle (which Ren partly grew up on). This is absolutely no imitation but a serious part of his musical heritage/environment
I'm a sucker for some good cinematography and one shot's are like my favorite. This video plus the music was so damn good. Mad props to Ren and his team.
Ren never misses! Another absolute banger! He has covered some Bob Marley in the past, so yes you are totally right to mention that influence. Love you guys, keep going!
Glad you guys are safe! This song is a banger! So excited for the entire Sick Boi album!
I think the reggae influence is Bob Marley and Ska bands. Ska was/is still big in the UK. Ren and his old band, The Big Push, have a video on UA-cam where they are performing on the street corner (busking) and they do I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop. He sounds so much like Bob Marley in that performance! ❤️❤️❤️
Love your reaction! As hyped and pumped as the rest of us were! Can tell you are true fans of Ren and not just reacting to him for views! That's awesome! You guys going to make a We Know Ronnie AND Ren, You Can Music shirt? Or Ronnie on one side and Ren on the other (like 1 front, 1 back?) 🤣🤣🤣
Ren as you know is from the UK, reggae came to the UK in the 70s and its apart of our diet now. Great reaction.
You guys should check out Rens band, The Big Push and their Road to Zion live performance. It's awesome.
Hopefully, he does a sequel to this 🤞 It's fantastic 🔥
Great reaction guys 👍
Cheers 🍻😀
I love that reggae vibe he throws into his music quite often too, I feel it and I wonder about his inspiration for that style
With Jamaica being an ex-British colony and still part of the Commonwealth, the UK has a very strong link with Reggae. Bob Marley also lived in London for three years and recorded Exodus here.
Yess I’ve been waiting for this!!!
Love when he sings murderer he sounds like lead singer from green day
briliant reaction guys 😜😜👍👍🔥🔥
Simply awesome. Brilliant reaction.
Okay I need all of the albums of ren right now. I want to blast this in my car !!!!!
The stare ice cube was giving Ren in this reaction 😂😂😂
Really enjoying the Ren reactions, thank you!
More reggae REN: I shot the sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop video & Humble ft. Eden Nash
Important I think to watch Money Game 1&2 as 3 will be coming out soon and they’re amazing pieces of work.
Fun Ren: Power & Why My Woman by The Big Push
The beat had me right off the bat i knew I'd love it
Reggae was huge in the UK! Love this one!I heard the pig was Knox Hill!
thank you for continuing to react and support my favourite artist ever ❤❤❤
Ren actually said that this is a prequel to Animal flow. In the beginning of Animal flow you see a guy in a cage. That's the same guy he put in the back of the car.
The murderer part is directly from a reggae song by the same name, look it up.
Love you guys... probably the channel I most come to as you are so fun and have more of the music I have been recently finding (some very late in the scheme of things). This was a lot of fun too... just to try and explain the thing that goes on (at least with me) on some of the music. Like this one. Love Ren. But when I first head this one I was not on board. Generally not any kind of Rap or Hip Hop fan (just missed that whole gig during my life span) but folks like Ronnie Radke and Ren that have introduced it in their own way in songs I like have opened my eyes to appreciate it and love it in context of certain songs ... anyway.. I think the main issue was that without any of that kind of background or understanding of the type of things implied (I have heard something to do with "rap battles") What I was hearing and seeing did not seem to portray the Ren we know and love. The music aside the whole gangster kind of thing... cloraform (sp) and stuffing a guy in the trunk was not expected. All this blabbing to say.. that through listening to a few different kind of reactions (some more specifically take apart the musical layers and others more kind of the ties to what happens and connections to old standard ideas in kind of that rap battle kind of "taken it on" "try me" .. kind of attitude. I have slowly come to have fun with this as well and really enjoy the totality. Thanks guys. You always make me laugh too.
You guys need to check out Hardy. He just put out his album. (The Mockingbird and the Crow) It's like Rock and Country together "Hillbilly Rock?"
Hardy has written many songs for artiest, and now he is doing it for himself. Awesome lyrics.
Great work Ren! Best comment: "He just murdered the music industry, put it in the trunk, and drove away." [ Reactors: MerchantOfAlba]
Look at Barrington Levy and his song by the same name. It's an obvious influence when you hear it. Plus, it's just great music 😁 like Ren's.
Awesome guys
Love you 3. Where do you get the massive drinking vessels from? Another top reaction. Class.
Great reaction, Fellas Dax dropped a new song today named God Eyes very deep and he's rapping in this one
Barrington Levy is the Jamaican influence for this tune.
you guys are just fun
Jamaican Style = Barrington Levy - Murderer (1993). Saludos 👍🏾
P.S. Common misconception (myself included) is the idea of "young man" ... not that he is "old" but he seems so youthful and I suppose we have seen a long period of time over which many of the videos we have been seeing this past year cover.
But Ren is 33 years old (2023). I also was surprised to realize that his friend Joe Hughs that he honors in many of his songs and inspires him to go on... Ren was 21 when that happened. They were childhood friends so I had felt they were more high school age. Just a perspective shift ... doesn't change anything but figure I would mention it.
I knew you’d lose it to the finger in the anus line🤣🤣🤣 Another great reaction to yet another awesome song by Ren
UK's 🇬🇧 youth talk with a British/Caribbean (Ali G - Sacha Baron Cohen character) style accent & patois. As a Brit myself I notice that he doesnt pronounce letters in a traditional way, it gives a little Caribbean feel too the words, this is through the immigration over last 70 years subtly changing the accent & language.
The push, look it up.
Keep at it bros! Give us alllll the Ren! Lol
Glad you guys made it through. Tornado warnings are scary 😱
4:21 Actual fatality
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Should listen to 1990s and see if any of what he sings about is relateable
How did the camera get in the car and how did it get out again?
Just a heads up!! If you live anywhere near Pfizer in NC be sure to only drink bottled water and cook with bottled water. And hope nothing got released that’s beyond bone er pills. Take care and be safe✌🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸
The shocker
That 'murderer' hook is from an old Barrington Levi track - reggae had a massive infleunce on UK subculture in the late 80s / early 90s
I just went and listened to that track, and yeah. Totally. Barrington actually has a short here on YT freestyling it.
@@atwellorama as soon as I heard it I was like "ooh, ohh - I know that!"
Glad someone said it.
We have loads of Jamaican influences in the UK. Im about rens age n growin but in the 90s, the pop songs often had a more jamaican rapper rather than American type rappers.
I always thought rap was a Jamaican thing until i got into my teens.
Dancehall reggae was massive in the late 80s / early 90s!
Barrington Levy was also used a lot in the Jungle scene, which is the kind of music that made Ren start producing beats as he fell in love with Drum 'n Bass / Jungle and wanted to make some himself
@@DenTweed yeh this - sure he mentioned he got into it because he heard an Aphrodite track when he was a kid.
As someone about a decade older, reggae and ska music/influences were all over the place in the 80s too.
@@triggerhappysound yup and Two Tone as well :)
I think the fact he’s independent is such a big deal because he just does whatever he feels like, and it’s magical! Thanks to social media he can still get his songs out to the public, and we get to enjoy and experience it! Thanks for the reaction!
Tom Macdonald does the same!
Can we also appreciate that Ren's video was a one take shot with no cuts?! Just crazy! lol
exactly this
I think there is a cut, when he leaves the building. When camera turns, and we see the wall for a while.
@@ildikosos775 Quite possible! But I wouldn’t put it past him to do it in one take. He’s done that a lot in his other videos as well :) Even only one cut is impressive. Music videos nowadays can get so busy I can hardly register the image before it switches to the next.
@@ildikosos775 It's certainly possible that there's a cut, but one-takes are kind of Ren's thing
Luke Flegg confirmed the through the car window shots are cuts
One is very noticable once you see it. Don't read further if you don't want to notice it every time from now on:
The car window cut when he exits again (when abducting) you see on the right a blue car some distance away with no car close by (just the blue bins) yet once he is through the car window you see a white car very close by. Also you can feel Ren's abduction timing is off, he's barely at the car when the exiting starts but already at the back of the car when we pan to the back. It's only a short amount of time but it's off
Ren is Tarantino level in filmmaking. His whole thing is a massive performance.
"Famous...brother ask your mother what my name is". His lyrics are so good.
I would def be one of the mothers that know his name 🤤❤😂
He’s dropping 1 a week next month! Prepping for the 18 track ‘sick boi’ record
We get it Ren, You can music
That whole video is one shot, his videographer is a real talent too, some of the shots, the movement from the stair to the back seat of the car and back out to the rear of the car , the backwards movement through the window at the start, it amazing. Great reaction boys.
I'm so impressed w/ Ren and his team, I love a good one shot especially in a music video format.
There are actually some cuts, the videographer Luke confirmed ! Still an amazing video.
@@kiarasp8190 Wow, I never spotted one of them. Thanks for the info.
@@vincentscott3558 I could be wrong but I assume it's the transition in and out of the car. It's too smooth and you never really see the door open, but it's done so well it's hard to tell.
Im sure he has reggae and other influences... reggae, ska, two tone ska, punk were all extremely big in the uk...
I love that his cheeky side shined through so much in this one, some of the lyrics were hilarious.
As a Metal Head kind of guy I really appreciate Ren's style and how inventive he is,,I agree about the Jamaican style also...thanks for doing this guys...He is a amazing artist.
Barrington Levy's Murderer - old school reggae feel.
This was GREAT guys.
Thank you.
The song is SUPER catchy.
The video is quirky and 100% Ren.
Loved it.
💪👋
I laughed out loud when you said "there must be something after this; he can't leave us hanging".
Ren said it’s a none linear story so the guy he kidnaps is the guy tied up at the start of animal flow
I'm not a fan of Rap in particular But this guy has Something special ❤
Muck duck duck!! 😂😂😂😂 Amazing😂😂😂😂
REN: MURDERER
[Chorus]
If you catch me alone, you better get out my zone because I'm ready to kill
I'll sit on my throne made of bodies and bones because I'm mentally ill
I'm feeling alive, I got the will to survive, so never test my skill
For goodness sake, man, I'm ready to break, man, murderer
Homie, it's the way that I get down, rat-tat-tat-tat
Murderer
If you see me on the corner of my town, get back-back-back
Murderer
Swing for your jaw on the first round, attack, -tack, -tack
Murderer
Homiе, it's the way that I get down
Yeah
[Verse 1]
I was born shamеless, fighting out in Brighton with the neighbours
Brother, ask your mother what my name is
I was born famous, trendsetter, hot stepper, greatest
Shocking like a finger in the anus
I was born wasted, stoned out my brain brother, faded
Writing catchy syllables, contagious
I was born courageous, naked and fucking outrageous
With a microphone, I rock stages
I jump on the rhythm, a rhyming cyclone
And I pull excalibur right out the stone
King punk, the precision it hits like Stallone
Rocky, keep it cocky, I'll be Al Capone
I walk alone, sit on the authors throne
And if you want it, I'll deny it like a mortgage loan
Your daughter's home, we'll be staying home alone
Condone the bone and eat it like a Toblerone, bitch
Murderer
Homie, it's the way that I get down
Yeah
[Verse 2]
The bigger they come, the bigger they fall
The trigger, the gun, I'm clipping them all
Like eeny-meeny-miny-moe
I line them up against the wall
I don't mean metaphorically, lyrical bullets
I mean actually fucking kill 'em, squeeze the trigger and pull it
Blood splat, how's it going lad, rhymes are flowing mad
Trust that I'm a pro at that, seeds are sewing, bad boy
I'm an addict, volcanic, a mind that's twisted and manic
The rhymes are gifted, God damn it
I push the button, we panic
Breathe, I seize the land sky and the seas, it's easy
See me freestyle freely
What, man?
Yes, I came to rock, man
Drop it like it's hot, fam
Wearing clothes from Oxfam, God damn!
I am a blood-sucking titan from the streets of Brighton
Hit you with my right-hand, sucker
Murderer
Homie, it's the way that I get down
Yeah
[Outro]
Shee
Homie, it's the-, homie, it's the-
I love this song
I love his stuff because he's not just a great rapper, but he's an amazing singer and he switches it up so seamlessly :)
This beat slaps!!
And did you just say Muckduck??😂😂😂
ALL HAIL REN!!! THE ONE TAKE KING!!!! 👑 (Sam is also the king but gotta give Ren his dues.... but Sam is a Crowned 👑 King as well lol) had to edit this cause @lukeflegg is the master who shot this feom what i see...
😂 "as shocking as a finger in the anus" well, it's even more shocking when I'm watching your reaction at work and in walks a customer right at that very part and your phone decides to malfunction and not pause properly. 🤣 The look on their face."what did he just say? What are you listening to? " Bless them 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I believe he was highly influenced by Barrington Levy a Jamaican rapper
Jamaica was part of the British Empire and remains part of the Commonwealth. There's been large scale immigration from the Caribbean to the UK, especially from Jamaica. The immigration started after WW2 but hit it's peak in the 60s and 70s. As a result, ska and reggae have been a big part of British cultural life for a long time. It even helped bridge cultural divides. The huge ska revival of the late 70s and early 80s where ska became one of the dominant chart genres illustrates this, as virtually all the British ska bands were mixed race. Thus it's no surprise to hear ska and reggae influences in British music and many of those influences are 'home-grown'. Btw, did you know that Bob Marley's father was a white Englishman? :)
Reggae/Ska/dance hall music is very popular in parts of Britain!
Always love your reactions guys. Keep it going!!
Nobody sees the great Pulp Fiction reference in the car scene... 😮
My New fav song from Ren just love the flow and Lyrics 🤟 you guys are the best
Ren “Kills” it again huh!!
I see what you did there. Noice!
The whole of the uk has been influenced by reggae giving the birth to ska years ago.
hes lifelong police fan , the band obviously , so he has that beat built into his natural feel and time.
Hes even covered them but hes huge sting fan....who isnt. I stewart copeland he is so crazy talented saw police 2015 maybe earlier at fenway park. Nice job :) He even plays that andy summers style telecaster color scheme and all
Ren has leveled up again. Ish is about to get massively wild 🤬🤬🤬 Ren is going to battle and he is in Reaper mode 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I volunteer to be kidnapped for the next video.
The big push does a cover of I shot the sheriff that’s to die for !
Absolutely love this one! Love your reaction. BTW he said all videos are connected... the guy he kidnaps is the same guy strung up in animal flow. Found that out on twitch yesterday. So good and all thought out!
This is definitely my favorite. Also hey!
@mcflyjp hey I am just off to watch your reaction now lol
Love this!!! And you guys! ❤
This song is sooooo DOPE! Thanks for the video guys! I'm glad you are all okay :)
Guys, I don't know if you've reacted to anything from Freckled Angels, but please, if you haven't.. Pocket Full Of Pain .... PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏
Luv Ren, he’s my favorite, thank you guys ❤❤❤
This song musically is heavily influenced by Barrington Levy's song Murderer. Look it up and you'll understand. Fantastic song and great basis for this one by Ren
How comes you haven't reacted to the live acoustic version of this.....its even better!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤣
He is into Reggae for real, that phrasing on Murderer is a straight copy of BARRINGTON LEVYs track Murderer a Reggae classic. I feel WU TANG influences on that beat too
Hip Hop -- Rap arrived in Britan with the Jamaican community, as well as the influences from USA they also influenced Canada the same way. Check out the songs of Snow (mid 1990's-2000's). Also a white Rapper. Song "Informer" was a favorite of mine back then.
So I've gone around and speculated on what the number plate means...I, and only I as in my opinion lol...Hax is a catch-all term for abilities that can be used to ignore/bypass one or more of a target's statistics, rendering them irrelevant. And then the J20 could be July 20th, the day he dropped this masterpiece!! Again just my thoughts. Also did yall see he hit 1mil subs on YT?!! Our baby boy is growing up so fast...😂😂😂 Much love! RENEGADES FOR LIFE!!
That Murderer lick is definitely influenced by Barrington Levy
The reggae and Jamaican influence is because he's from the UK. There's a huge afro Caribbean population here. Especially in the south.
Barringhton Levy - Murderer. The "Murderer" catch-phrase comes from there.
Ren is part of a group called "the big push", you're missing out. You NEED to check out - I shot the sheriff live, sweet little lady live, praise you "Fatboy slim cover". Also his collabs with Sam Tompkins are sick as well.
I found uou guys through twenty one pilots last year. I’ve been a long term ren fan, from Brighton for a lot longer than I’ve been a fan of twenty one pilots - at least as long as Jenny’s tale have I been telling people about him - the meeting of both artists in your reactions enjoying them both in affirming in a life where it’s hard to find congruence! Thank you xxx
The uk wouldnt be the same without cultural differences. Welsh, Scottish, irish,English and jamacan and indian and everyone else in our cultural melting pot. Good things come from diversity
He's the absolute best artist alive rn I'm the biggest fan ever!!! OMG biggest renegade 💯
Is it me, or does the background melodic chant sound like he's saying 🎶"Ryker-roooad!"🎶 5:42
hey guys...great reaction as always!!thanks for your content!! i really would like to see you react to "Wardruna" or "Heilung" i bet you would love it!!!
I love REN,still song it's crappie, and You could swallowed it and say its chocolate,be fair and true maits
