The usual U.G. Krishnamurti attitude in this interview (with Willem de Ridder), but interesting and some parts of it are classic. I like very much what he says about children later on in the video. Also his points in spiritual search and his comments on westerners who find eastern religion.

I just wanted to say that if you listen to the “mechanics” of what he says there’s a consistent and common thread in what he saying. But what’s really incredible to me is that what he’s saying is actually meaningless (it has no point). Not meaningless like someone who’s gone crazy and is unintelligible, or someone who’s playing a fool, but he seems to not play a side (without having the option to play a side at all).
So I think to the extent that you understand him, you could say this perception of a consistent point he’s making (throughout all his videos and his books) is like a reflection of your physical ability to pick-out the mechanics of the thought process.
There may come a point for you where by some happenstance or miracle your search really does come to an end. I don’t even care to listen to UG anymore because he doesn’t say anything, and all his videos are on the same topic. Really what he’s saying is no different than any other sound, but the tremendous weight of the learned culture ,which has been impressed on me over and over again, has irreversibly put me in this position where I know exactly who I am, where I am, etc. I know these things as the facts that I have to accept in order to function, as UG would say, sanely and intelligently. If I want to eat and f#ck I have to normalize myself within society to the extent that I can. I must accept the insanity and stupidity of society as a whole, or end up in a position where my innate biological needs cannot be met.
And now, it seems to me that the only way I could ever be free of my conditioning to reach some other level of consciousness would be through death. But even my conception of death is only possible through the idea that I’m alive. I have no way to know that I’m breathing, or if my heart beats. So, the whole situation kind of folds in on itself and you see that what you’re left with is indeed a death for you. Death in the sense that everything you’ve ever thought, felt, and experienced comes to an end with this situation we call life and death. The you that was there isn’t gone but was never there to begin with. Everything folds in on itself and becomes something that you have no way of knowing or explaining what it is.
There isn’t fear of death or loneliness, or joy and wonder. There’s simply a consistent thread to what we accept as existence, and everything falls within its purview. Laughter and crying are two expressions of the same thing.
