For context: Adam Neely & Shawn Crowder have a project called “Sungazer.” A fan wrote a very cool (and very challenging) drumline addition to one of the songs of their recent album, “Threshold,” using MIDI drums. Sungazer challenged the Internet to learn and perform live performances of the piece. Adam has a really neat video explaining the inner workings of “Threshold” called “The Psychology of Extreme Rhythms” that I highly recommend. And Shawn has a channel as well that any percussionists here will find fascinating. Their music isn’t what I typically listen to, but it’s super engaging and, I have to admit, the new album has grown on me. And kudos to you, Eric, for playing this. Learning the 16th note bassline on this is challenging enough, much less polyrhythms inside of the crazy time signatures!
in that context it's huge discrepancy, not some minor detail. It's obvious that he can actually play, but if the challenge was to do it end to end, live, and in one take, this definitely is not comparable. I didn't watch the reference video, so no idea if there was any limitations that it had to be with a drum kit or if it was acceptable to do it as an ensemble. Still pretty cool that he figured it out, and put it together though, can't take that away
This was truly a thing of beauty!!!! I just couldn't help but laugh during this video, it so amazed me. Well done former Marine (well...once a Marine, always a Marine, so they say).
This sounds absolutely amazing and seems impossible. I will say the way you edit your videos to add each part they set this music up perfectly for you.
I don’t follow @Adam Neely so I wasn’t aware of this challenge. But obviously Eric has been working hard to perfect this piece. His focus while playing the bass splits was amazing. And the editing of this video is EPIC!
Yes! You should definitely go see them. And you should get a back-stage pass and a shout-out from them on stage! They should even show your video during their concert, while they play Threshold!
I was hoping that you would go at this!!!! I love sungazer so much and seeing you actually take on this arrangement is a fever dream. Adam did say that they were looking into experimenting with marching percussion again.. so maybe we could someday see Sungazer X EMC?? just a thought tho
I love your videos and u inspired me to try out for my school's percussion section but sadly I didn't make it in but the more I watch your videos I realize what i did wrong during try outs I am 12 year old turning 13 next month and I really hope I get a drum pad and sticks for my birthday! (your videos made me a bit better than the kids in the percussion section everyday I before my 8th period i go get my trombone from the band room and I ask one of the kids in percussion if i could play on their pad. I don't think i am getting the sticks and drum pad for my birthday because my family cant really afford it but i'm grateful for what i have) keep up the good work!
It was written for a drum line so it was never intended to be played alone. Doing this live with a drum line without the benefit of multiple takes and editing is a different story altogether. But this video has showed with enough talent and rehearsal it is physically possible at least
Excuse me, do you have a tutorial on your channel on how to properly set up a set of four crossovers? If not, please do so. I think this will be of interest to many.
you did it, you beautiful bastard
Thank you! Also congrats on first comment
…but you kinda cheated lol
@@EMCproductions 😭
EMC should get a tenor solo at Sungazer's show.
Wow this was perfect
Lol got unlisted access
They set this up for Eric perfectly haha
They had Eric in their minds while they were calling it impossible, I can just tell…
ABSOLUTELY STELLAR WORK ERIC! - it's so surreal to hear some of our material performed live.
I feel like when Shawn said "no drumline youtuber can ever do this" he was looking directly at you.
No but he was when he said "no ticks!"
when he said 'sup loopy grandma' I knew

The moment Adam said that, I knew EMC was already in the shed working on it
*Adam's video finished uploading*
Adam: Nobody ca-
Eric: Already practicing it
And now this song is actually featured in a Drum Corps show...
I wonder if the bluecoats saw this video when they designed this year's show.
dude!!! thank you a thousand times for this :) absolutely nailed it.
As soon as Adam said that, so many people called that Eric was gonna do it (and nail it)
But the editing?? Top notch
Either Eric or Connor Ferguson.
@@Apollostowel Conner Furgeson has chops!
@@BrassPlayr And he’s NOT socially awkward.
THE BLUECOATS DID IT!!
No cap this kind of writing feels like a breath of fresh air, reminds me of mike jackson starting to vibe out in the 2014 era of BK
Never tell a Marine it cannot be done. They will find away. Semper Fi!!!

Coming back after the 2024 dci season and reliazing bluecoats stole emc's whole flow

Wouldn't it be cool if Eric went to the concert and did a collab with Adam?
Just tell him it's impossible & he'll find a way😁🥁😁🥁
See you October 5th in fishtown!
I knew you could pull this off!!! Insane work dude!!
I don’t follow @Adam Neely so I wasn’t aware of this challenge. But obviously Eric has been working hard to perfect this piece. His focus while playing the bass splits was amazing. And the editing of this video is EPIC!
I love that the first person I saw to take up this challenge is in Philly. Yesss!!!! Subscribed.

YEEEEEES i saw this coming from the moment the original video dropped, god bless
Brilliant! Love the rotating 1st base drum. Well done, sir.

Somehow I knew this video would happen. Great job EMCproductions!!!
They did the setup and you delivered perfectly (not to mention the top notch editing)
How in the world did he do this??? This man is a magician

Cmon man this deserves at least 1 million views in the first 24 hours
Eric- I’m thrilled you’re collaborating with Adam Neely. Angry Music for Jazz Orchestra is brilliant and I recommend everyone check it out.
This was a cool call out for a video from Adam and Shawn. Loved it. Also Eric: hold my drumsticks, I'm gonna show this guys the "impossible".
I knew if somebody could pull this off, it was you, great video lml
That was freaking amazing! Well done sir!
This was insanely crazy Eric!! Way to pull is off….
Well played, it looked cool! And editing is so hilarious and cute 😂💜
Whoa thank you for that !
Somehow you managed to video edit an indoor percussion show COMPLETE with drill while only taking static, non-moving videos of yourself lol
I didn’t know how much I needed this collaboration.
LETS GO I REALLY HOPED THIS WOULD HAPPEN
I knew SOMEONE would do it, good job mate!!🥁🥁🥁
Amazing as always
Well done! This is great!
I LOVR YOU EMC
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful
Killed it!
On top of the balls to the wall playing, this also had some fantastic editing! Well done all aroind
Great collab!!!!
I was hoping you'd answer the call!!
Dude keep up the insane work that was insane
I love this.
That was a profoundly beautiful performance
Holy, this is fantastic
HELL YA YOU DID IT THANK YOU
I like how the increasing craziness level of the rhythm is reflected in the increasing craziness level of the visuals
Good morning! This is video number 7 of me asking Eric to make a set of tenors out of differently sized snare drums.
HE ACTUALLY DID IT I WAS HOPING FOR THIS
Absolutely beautiful doubles
Love it!!
I was waiting for this moment as soon as i saw it
this is THE crossover i’ve always wanted
This is cool as hell.
Converging world! 😃 My favorite UA-camrs found each other!
He did my suggestion.
Woo
That was delightful.
It's almost like he had you in mind when he said that, lol. Of COURSE it wasn't impossible for you!
I thought the "no ticks" was a direct challenge to Eric.
Eric you from Philly? I never knew that. Kinda makes me happy I guess. Lol either way keep doing your thing :) I love it
Definitely well done👏🏻🙌🏻💯
Right when I saw 15/16 I knew this was gonna be good

Top notch editing
I immediately searched for this after watching that video
That was Epic!
Let see if Blue Knights learn this for ‘23
Really needed a bar of squeak chicken 🐔. - nicely done !
Highly impressive!!!
I see, it is impossible for one person to play the whole piece by themselves. However, with the invention of cloning, it is entirely possible.
It was written for a drum line so it was never intended to be played alone. Doing this live with a drum line without the benefit of multiple takes and editing is a different story altogether. But this video has showed with enough talent and rehearsal it is physically possible at least
Dang!! This is really impressive. ✌️
Awesome ❤
Magnificent!
adam clearly dosent know EMC a man who has NOTHING to loose
Yes. Yes! YES!
i can feel just how hard it is by how long it took emc to come out with the video
amazing! dude you did it. Now is a 1-take version even possible?
The amount of time it must have taken for you to do this is incomprehensible to me.
Eric is just so good
It sounds like a trolled challenge to simply get someone to perform the drum line.
the smooth mcgroove of drums
they were absolutely asking you to do it
Round of applause👍👏
BRAVO
WOW INSANE
That was rad.
Totally badass!
You have achieved the impossible!
I was praying that emc was gonna do this
Excuse me, do you have a tutorial on your channel on how to properly set up a set of four crossovers? If not, please do so. I think this will be of interest to many.
We love a good cross over 😂
I was hoping you would play this after I saw adams video.
So in marching band I play bass 2 and I have a game this Friday and my harness completely broke 😭
Big oof, hope that gets fixed
