Gravity is a real thing in Terraria, but lucky! You're stronger than the gravity itself... somehow. I'd say, there are 9 methods to negate fall damage...

now that is just plain chaotic
I think one of the funniest way to negate fall damage is to get hit by enemy. I remember few times being saved by slimes and other monsters I found in caverns.
This actually isnt true, getting hit by an enemy doesnt reset your fall damage

I remember the time I fell off a cloud island and I ended up falling on a slime. Still died though :/
no, you are wrong. it happened to me, I was in a jungle and got booted off a ledge into the darkness by an enemy. right before hitting the ground I bounced on a hornet and landed safely
Possibly version dependant. For me it was on 1.2
I guess I would be Chaotic neutral with a hook (the RoD hook from the Queen Slime, fast and one of the easiest to use in danger)
But I would still use some double jumps accessories and rocket boots and pray to have some rocket juice left / double jumps left...

Why would you need to negate fall damage in hardmode if you should have wings at this point?
And what about using gravitation potion while falling and double flip your gravity right before landing?
I can come up with some more ideas:
Equip slime mount and place peaceful creature underneath before hitting the ground
Simply use rod of discord
Clutch not with water but with lava/honey
Use "the cooler recall potion" before landing and go back through created portal
Option 0: wings
they count as accessories that negate fall damage completely. atleast almost all of them.

CN, cobweb and minecarft clutches until i get double jump, then use grapple when i get that, most of my hellevators simply have two ropes at the bottom, does the job and it's funny to watch you friends fail the clutch

I think there's another method of preventing fall damage: using a gravitation potion some seconds before you hit the ground. i use this sometimes on modded playthroughs

In real life you can break water surface density by throwing a rock before you would jump
The world record jump to water from hight used this but there still is a limit of how high you can jump and survive
i usually use gramping hook,depending of situation i use the magic mirror or the potion of recall(hope i just get the right name),but i prefer to use the potion than mirror since the use time its less
Ok but something like that amplified world would actually make a SUPER badass secret seed, maybe as a secret combination using the skyblock seed or something

I did this when I started playing and I think I only noticed in my third playtrough that I didn't need to do that 💀

i use any of the slime mounts, i hate waiting when im falling and i can dodge attacks in calamity with it
before the introduction of the bundle of horseshoe balloons, i guess i was a lawful evil. but now i've been domesticated!
also, i used to use water at the end of my hellevator. now i'm usually too lazy. this last world, i was actually trying calamity with infernum. not a big calamity fan, don't like the guy in charge. but i figured i oughta try infernum out at least once. anyway, don't know if it's calamity or infernum, but the angler is a gigachad with one of those mods! he gives you the demon conch very quickly. no hellevator required!
Guess I'm multiclassing alignments cause I've either used or currently use most of these methods

Place a bed mid-air before touching ground and click fast enough so that you set your spawn point there before you die
Or just sleep
Chaotic evil is using lava to break the fall
I can place cobweb right before I touch the ground and know how to place rope on background walls to save myself that are way
Guess I'm chaotic neutral. As a nohitter we have learned to utilize hooks to carry our mobility so if I find a hook you know I'm using it.

I always jump just before landing with a double jump item, if I'm out of jumps I'ma use my grappling hook. Ngl, super easy.

I always play on Journey, making this concern inexistent thanks to God Mode
