This is a truly excellent set of videos. At first I thought I'd only watch a few clips, but ended up watching the whole thing back-to-back. Thank you so much Dr Lang for sharing your experiences. May peace be upon you.
He's indeed a very influential person, I have read two books written by him and enjoyed reading them so much, may Allah bless him and reward him for his efforts. peace brother
Jazaka ALlahu Khayrun akhi. May Allah (SWT) protect you and your family and grant you His Jannah, therein to abide past the count of time. And may He (SWT) let me enter in your company should you be amongst the saliheen and/or mujahideen.
OK, lets watch it again with an open mind, and I will go through his entire lecture before commenting again^^ Its hard for an atheist to watch theists lectures with an open mind, but I will try...
The love that Muslims talk about for Allah and eachother.. I have it. The love that Christians talk about, I have it. We are inately capable of goodness and love. If you're religious you're just using the name to clarify what it is. May your God go with you.
I had a look on the web and found this translation of the same verse And the heaven, We raised it high with power, and most surely We are the makers of things ample.
fRANCE033, you are a great thinker, and knowledge researcher! you judge using your mind rather than using your feelings. I respect you and respect you more for hating GWB II
Finally, I would just like to express that I am not trying to divert from your question but asking you to do what I have. The fact of the matter is I believe and you can just undermine that easily. Everyone holds something to be the truth and it is this that Islam encourages humankind to debate on, what is the truth? why do we exist? why weren't we preconditioned to be moral? why do we feel pain? What hapens to consiousness by death? Is creation infinite? etc etc.
Exactly, you're 100% right. And that's why you/me/us must listen to their REASONS and on what basis they embraced Islam. Because religion is a very important subject for our mental health, self-peace, and most importantly what will happen after our death, so when you read that someone like Dr. Jerald Dirks have a PHD in Divinity from Harvard and read the old scripture and he is on a certain knowledge that ISLAM is the true religion and he read and can prove it, then that must be true.
According to the Journal of Psychology & Human Sexuality, the "age of consent throughout history...usually coincided with the age of puberty" with "the absolute minimum at seven". Both that Journal and Encyclopedia Britannica state that age of consent laws were passed from Roman law to the Church to English Common Law, which states: "between 7 years and puberty there could be consent but not consummation" until puberty, with no parental consent required from the age of 12.
The re-enactment was honest! You say him telling of his days while he was ignorant of Islam was unnecessary? Would you rather he had lied? What he did, was perfectly illustrate what he was thinking and feeling at the time and how it affected him while reading the Qur'an. It shows more accurately, the power that Gods word had on him. He never once was disrespectful to God or to his audience. Humour is not against Islam. It helped make the lecture interesting. the only disrespectful one here is u.
It is very Saddening seeing what kind of comments are written. To the people whom are writing negative things about islam i would like to say to u if u are saying tht islam very violent, then look at the comments that u r writing...there is no respect..u claim that u r democratic and that this is freedom of speech? i didn't knw tht this means being disrespectful?! However, i ask god to have mercy upon u all. May god show u the light.
Hi, I would like to translate these videos in Arabic because I appreciate Dr. Lang so much that I want his words to reach to Arab people and I can help with that. What can I do? the add translation button is not working for this video.
Salam Heba, UA-cam has changed a lot since I've last logged in so I can't find how to send a private message. Can you possibly email me at islam_adra@yahoo.ca to discuss the translation project. Thanks.
@@IslamAdra is he okay? I was wondering if he was still in college or well actually I was worried about him because he didn't show up or he didn't have any new videos.
@JoshuaAbrahamm if you watch the entire lecture, he does say that this is no proof for anyone else, its his own personal conviction and he cant deny what happened. he is not trying to prove islam or god, he is simply explaining his point of view on all this, which in some parts of the series is extremely beautiful.
Not all of them like that, here is another completely differnet example, search on youtube by the following text: - Top American Surgeon embraced Islam - Dr.Jerald Dirks Two examples that got nothing in common with Dr. Jeffery Lang
take notes peeps ... this is a mathematician at work! how many of us can grasp, the critical thinking this brother delivers..? for most people, their attention span has gone down the drain ,due to entertainment, blind following, misunderstandings and intolerance.. this brother will stretch your imagination, critical thinking and reason... the heart and lungs of knowledge... cardio vascular exercise for your attention span...whats weird my man underneath? that which you cannot comprehend..
Dear Viewers: You are all free to speak your mind as long as you refrain from using profane language. In the unfortunate circumstance where you find it extremely difficult to make a point without being vulgar, please note that your comment will be deleted. Thank you.
Because Muslims have the truth and are obliged to spread that truth for others benefit. Its a message, a call. People can believe in what they like and choose. But we know there is a heaven and hell and we don't want anyone to be there especially those around us and on Judgement day we don't want to be asked the question why we didn't spread the truth when it was with us. Thats injustice to non-muslims and greedy on our behalf. everyone deserves to hear the message, after that its up to them.
This was confirmed in 1877 by the US Supreme Court. Even today, 6 states and the District of Columbia allow this Common Law marriage, and such marriages are then constitutionally recognized in all 50 states.
I would love to see the chapter in the Quran that states that the universe is expanding, does it realy say that or does it say something which in light of our current understanding can be streatched to make it sound like it says the universe is expanding. Please quote the text so people can make up their own mind.
So you are right, just because someone good or successful embraced and idea or a religion doesn't make it right...and on the same logic...just because someone bad or failure embraced an idea or a religion doesn't make it wrong.... Then how to judge? You put basis on the subject such as: What is A relgion? Who and What is A God? Why should we worship ANY God? and how to know the true path to that God?
"A wa-lam yara-lladheena kafaru: Annas-samaawaati wal arda kaana taaratqan fa-fataqnahumma." "Do not the unbelievers see that: Verily! The Skies and the Earth were once one unit of creation, then we split them asunder." I don't remember exactly what verse it is, I'll find it for you. I just know the verse.
And when you find other priests, people that are not like others, their job to read in old scripture, and a lot of them admitting that they have evidance that Jesus, as Moses before him, said that there is a final prophet comming after me and that prophet is Muhammad...then that must be true. And then you look around in more evidance, such as, what does Islam teach?? who else embrace Islam and again ON WHAT BASIS??
@blanca1257 I just want to say like you sisters Salam to you Dr Lang and SALAM to your mother. I know many other families all over the wirld are enduring the same tragedy and I hope that they will too find PEACE and know that they are not alone !
So he became an atheist then he became religious again - there's a seeker if there ever was one. He was looking for a new god as soon as his mom died. This guy's been running all his life, I don't think he's stopped at Islam, he's just found a pit stop where people seem to accept him. Possibly he thinks he's run far enough, it's hard to tell. Maybe having been raised religious he was strong enough to see the lie in religion but not strong enough to face the truth of reality.
@snaforfun ...thank you for making me aware of this! jazaka allahu kahyran inshalah. it is very upsetting when we c such things happening :(, i felt a sense of responsibility as i saw my religion and my beloved prophet (pbuh) being mocked to say sumthing! as i felt tht on the day of judgment i would be question as to y i remained silent. Allah (SWT) knws best! and from all my heart i pray that this person could c the truth! our religion is such a beautiful and peaceful religion..hadakom allah
@Sandtrigganigga - All cultures have their dysfunction! We here in 'the west' are far from perfect and we have issues that we must work on. As bad as it may be here it is worse, sometimes MUCH worse, in many parts of the world with northern Africa, southern and southwest Asia being prime examples. The difference is much more is reported on and talked about openly here than in the aforementioned areas.
@JoshuaAbrahamm I wouldnt think anyone would say that he or she understands the Quran in perfect detail, but please do ask and ill try to answer your questions to the best of my ability, God willing. Im sure many others who have studied it far more than me would answer as well, given that they are aware of your question.
@SHIBBYiPANDA My friend, it seems you are genuine in your search for Truth. I have no doubt in my mind, Allah will guide you. Usually, atheists/agnostics are biased & quick to point eternal hell. But it is just as easy to go to paradise-eternal pleasures. What is required to enter paradise is good deeds such as being pious, humble, helping the poor, speaking the truth, respecting elders, loving the young, not gambling, not drinking alcohol, caring for neighbor, caring for parents, & so on.
I wasn't trying to prove any deity/deities were real or not, I was just saying that it's wrong to look down on something for believing/not believing something you do believe in.
@snaforfun .. i going to say 1 thing brother! May Allah(SWT). show this guy (and others whom speak without knowledge) the truth! and guide him and fill his heart with the beauty of islam. Enna Allah yahdi man yasha2... Open your eye people. U have the chance to see the beauty now. i hope that every1 tht reads this comment research bout Islam as u r having the chance. If dont accept it as a religion at east accept it as a way of life (but make sure u research properly.
@Spined1234 Actually, I don't watch CNN or read magazines in order to get information about Islam. Qur'an (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help." Allah is obviously a merciful and loving god...*sarcasm*
@honigdachsfan Not necessarily. Christians and Jews are regarded as fellow people of the book. Also those who haven't heard the message of Islam are judged differently, as are those who predate the Islam.
@xrickXjamesx al-Haleem: The Clement This name is mentioned fifteen times in the Qur’an. This means that Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is not quick to judgment. He gives time. He forebears and is patient to see His servant to return to Him.
The Qur'an is not full of 'hate messages', it is full of warning to those who have forgotten their purpose in life..all the messengers were here only to warn of the life to come later which would never end only one life to live...where do you go after that? body is swallowed up by the earth/..but the soul persists and will not go anywhere without giving account of what it did while on earth if you don't believe...fine ...no ones forcing you to believe anyways
@xrickXjamesx Of course he is. The opening to any surah starts off with "In the name of Allah, the most merciful, the most kind" (you should know this, what with your vast research on Islam you claim to have made) Yes Allah is the most merciful but he is also the most severest in punishment. Many disbelievers mock and insult Allah, yet he remains patient with them by giving them health and wealth.
People thinks believing in religion is choosing between the best story of life...but it isn't, it is about starting to buy into the idea that they aren't just stories. Be it islam, be it christianity etc....I came from the reverse of that. I was a very dedicated muslim became an atheist. I realised, they are just stories. They are fairytales.
I respect faith, but the believers show demonstrate the existance of God,not vice versa!Atheism and knowledge walk on the same percentage, this is an isolate case, the real face of the world is that Atheism and Theism,in the next 20 years, will became the first ''belive'' on earth!
@SuperMemzzz no it was me that I thought there was some hope left in u but am sorry that I couldnt get 2 u.....am sorry may u live a happy life enjoy it 2 the max
We're fragile beings and we need to believe in something. Whatever works for you. I personally think it's arrogant to say that there absolutely is a God and that if there is one, or several, we are only likely to find out the truth by exploring our natural world as fully as possible. It is possible to live a good and true and loving life without the idea of God or Allah or prophets or Jesus or Mohammad or Rabbi's or Reverends or Vicars or Priests or any kind of religious idea.
Hey I was wondering, have you ever heard about someone getting cured from cancer or anything by praying to Allah?? I live in America so I never hear anything about what goes on in Islam.. Have you ever heard of anything like that..
I knwo my religion is the Truth. but me saying that is enough for me. We need to know ourselves what it takes for us as individuals to realise the truth, not simply just know it, as the worst of people are those who know the truth but do not act upon it nor let others into it for personal gains. I can't tell you on this comments box why I think, but it is upto yourself to research upon this and debate. It is enough for a perosn to read the Quran first and then talk to people of knowledge.
Oh i forgot...watch the video and enjoy how Islam and specifically ARABS ....lol...changed an Atheist professor into a decent human being who believes in God and respect humans i never saw any pagan Iranian do such a thing...beautiful women though....lol
@AbayZumZum ya ur right, I'm agnostic. So have you ever experienced something in your life to make you believe it was true? I haven't check Islam out much since I'm still working on disproving Christianity to myself.. I currently am leaning towards that Christianity is not true but I have to be 100% sure since eternal torture is the punishment if I'm wrong.. LOL... I thought Christianity was immaculate for so long... So what specifically in your life makes you believe Islam??
Yes, what a poor guy! After all he's just a Professor of Mathematics! Why didn't he ask someone with infinite wisdom and achievments like yourself..I feel sorry for him :( lol
I'm trying to understand your thought process when you quoted this proverb about the road to hell being paved with good intentions when it completely contradicts the Qur'an. Quran 2:225 "God will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing." We are held accountable only for our intentions. Good intentions reap good rewards. Unfortunatly you can not understand that on your own. Too bad...
1. Yes, they do but many Muslims without beards are devout. 2. Yes exactly having a beard doesn't make you a Muslim which is my point. 3. I know you were mocking him and i didn't like it ..hence the reply 4. If you didn't care why he has a beard then why comment on it ...lol. Anyway..just enjoy his story without being rude. regards :)
Sounds to me more like he had father issues that led him to shuffle off Christianity as a way to strike back at his father, but he wasn't strong enough to actually live without a fairy tale to make him feel like something was giving his life meaning. I'm guessing he had a number of muslim friends, and being good people, he wanted to be a part of their group. He's no more mulsim than he was christian. Of course, if you believe in a fairy tale what does it really matter?
Many of the important Islamic videos on youtube have very crappy recorders and host organizers. Bad sound quality is evident in many videos, and over that? THE HOST IS A FREAK WITH HIS MIC TURNED ON for the sake of annoyance.
@SHIBBYiPANDA There are many reasons for my belief in Islam. One reason is, it offers the best moral code targetting to please Allah Almighty & not society. In the scheme of things, my stay here on this earth is very short. Even if I live to be 100 years old, it still will be a tiny blip considering billions/trillions of years. When I leave, all I will have is good deeds to show to my Lord. Lord will not ask me about what others did, but I alone will be held accountable for my actions.
@SHIBBYiPANDA Lastly, if you seek Allah-the Creator, the Cherisher, the Sustainer of the worlds, the Tremendous, the Sublime, the Wise, the All-Knowing, the All-Seeing, the Powerful, the Majestic, the Merciful, the Architect, the Designer, the Fashioner, & the Just-then be humble, be pious, be sincere, & willing to submit to Him and Him alone, spend much time in His rememberance & have tenacious faith then inshAllah(God willing), He will unvail some of the knowledge of the Unseen.
In short, get into a academic discussion. Not emotioanal discussion or experience. e.g. what is menat by this or that, why has this word been used instead of what you believe to be better etc. Either you become a student of it or teach what you think has been missed. And not just a verbal debate but also through essays and theisis as it is effective to keep track. And always refer to the experts in the matters you look into, e.g. astronomer for astronomy, linguistist for linguistics etc.
Mexico the 3rd largest Christian Nation will never fall to Islam. North America should expel Islam. Canada, Mexico and the U.S. are Nations of Freedom, Liberty, diverse Nations. we don't want Arabs or any foreigners in our lands. These lands belong to the Indigenous peoples and the ones who Colonized it to build the 3 Great North American Nations.
@bariuspelagic It was Islam that gave women their rights not the Western world. Women in the West have just received the right to inherit and own property, the right to vote, and to have an opportunity to pursue an education. Islam gave that to them 1400 years ago! According to the Deen it is incumbent upon both male and female to get an education. The first word revealed in the Quran was IKRA which means READ!!! There are more WOMEN in Muslim countries that graduate from College then male.
TO DEACONKEN - Jesus taught to believe in one God, right? Where so did Muhammed. Jesus and Moses said to believe in one God ( from commandments ), so did Muhammed. Jesus believed all the Prophets, Adam, Moses, Noah, etc. So did Muhammed. Jesus Excepted the books, Torah, etc. So did Muhammed. Jesus and Muhammed's teachings were similar if not almost the same.
@snaforfun .. Al HAmdulilah... .may we be between the ones that Allah shades them under His shade when there is no shade except his shade. i Love u for the sake of Allah.

body is swallowed up by the earth/..but the soul persists and will not go anywhere without giving account of what it did while on earth
if you don't believe...fine ...no ones forcing you to believe anyways
Therefore.....hate hate hate
@xrickXjamesx Of course he is. The opening to any surah starts off with "In the name of Allah, the most merciful, the most kind" (you should know this, what with your vast research on Islam you claim to have made)
Yes Allah is the most merciful but he is also the most severest in punishment. Many disbelievers mock and insult Allah, yet he remains patient with them by giving them health and wealth.
mocking is for people who have no say in an argument, so to prove their point they resort to weaker and insignificant things ...
People thinks believing in religion is choosing between the best story of life...but it isn't, it is about starting to buy into the idea that they aren't just stories. Be it islam, be it christianity etc....I came from the reverse of that. I was a very dedicated muslim became an atheist. I realised, they are just stories. They are fairytales.
not trying to "spam" but thewaythetruth(.)com is relevant to this video.
you fight Allah with your heart but you lose. because many people will see the true..
pERFECT EXAMPLE.
I respect faith,
but the believers show demonstrate the existance of God,not vice versa!Atheism and knowledge walk on the same percentage, this is an isolate case, the real face of the world is that Atheism and Theism,in the next 20 years, will became the first ''belive'' on earth!
@SuperMemzzz no it was me that I thought there was some hope left in u but am sorry that I couldnt get 2 u.....am sorry may u live a happy life enjoy it 2 the max
@alparon you forgot to add "in my opinion"
The way some people here try their best to disprove God is just ridiculous. If you think the Quran is from man, then go and make a book like it.
@xrickXjamesx Thighing? What is that? Sorry I've never heard of it. Please explain further.
we do!!!
Allah u akhbar
I knwo my religion is the Truth. but me saying that is enough for me.
We need to know ourselves what it takes for us as individuals to realise the truth, not simply just know it, as the worst of people are those who know the truth but do not act upon it nor let others into it for personal gains.
I can't tell you on this comments box why I think, but it is upto yourself to research upon this and debate. It is enough for a perosn to read the Quran first and then talk to people of knowledge.
I guess he missed his imaginary friend but he felt he couldn't go back to the original one.
Why didn't he ask someone with infinite wisdom and achievments like yourself..I feel sorry for him :(
lol
I'm trying to understand your thought process when you quoted this proverb about the road to hell being paved with good intentions when it completely contradicts the Qur'an.
Quran 2:225 "God will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts; and He is Oft-forgiving, Most Forbearing."
We are held accountable only for our intentions. Good intentions reap good rewards.
Unfortunatly you can not understand that on your own. Too bad...
you have your beliefs others have theirs. Keep your beliefs to yourself and stop thinking yours are somehow more accurate.
1. Yes, they do but many Muslims without beards are devout.
2. Yes exactly having a beard doesn't make you a Muslim which is my point.
3. I know you were mocking him and i didn't like it ..hence the reply
Ah. Insults. People can not prove Muslims wrong so they insult.
@SHIBBYiPANDA
There are many reasons for my belief in Islam.
@SHIBBYiPANDA
Lastly, if you seek Allah-the Creator, the Cherisher, the Sustainer of the worlds, the Tremendous, the Sublime, the Wise, the All-Knowing, the All-Seeing, the Powerful, the Majestic, the Merciful, the Architect, the Designer, the Fashioner, & the Just-then be humble, be pious, be sincere, & willing to submit to Him and Him alone, spend much time in His rememberance & have tenacious faith then inshAllah(God willing), He will unvail some of the knowledge of the Unseen.
And always refer to the experts in the matters you look into, e.g. astronomer for astronomy, linguistist for linguistics etc.
mashaAllah...how Allah guides His slaves!

I make dua your parents too enter Janna as there way of lives had an impact on you to think the straight path. Allah (SW) know the best, Ameen
What? Muhammad said the Torah and the New Testament were corrupted; he did not accept them.
@dewan05 wut???
Jesus and Muhammed's teachings were similar if not almost the same.
few? Islam is the fastest growing religion.
He does not have a beard! Beware of false Muslims!
@Walnut87
Islam is the truth.
@snaforfun .. Al HAmdulilah... .may we be between the ones that Allah shades them under His shade when there is no shade except his shade. i Love u for the sake of Allah.
