    The fact that she's skowly adjusting to her. Hair/length!!! Brcause i remember years ago when she did a big chop and people were denying she had 4c hair! Such progress! You love to see it!

      I want to cry at her progress because I have watched her channel since 2019...around the time she did her big chop and I'm amazed at the growth. And honestly yes, the doux has definitely been a reliable brand.

    Beautiful! It's amazing how you much your hair has grown since the beginning of your journey!😊♥️
    In my humble opinion, post your big chop pick and put it beside this thumbnail post so others can see the vast comparison, and how natural hair will thrive when you embrace and take, love and care of it!
    Peace and blessings ♥️

      That's a good idea, posting both pictures because some people are new here not me and they haven't a clue as to how well she has done with caring for her hair and how funny it was initially after the big chop as she tried to learn the texture of her hair!😂 be sure to put in the big chop date and then of course this year's date for comparison.

    Virgin Afro hair for the win. So healthy and beautiful. Every time I have dyed my hair in the past I always end up regretting it. If your hair is this long and healthy and you get the itch to dye it, do yourself a favor and get a wig. It’s not worth the damage.

      I hàve been rolling my own hair as well as the whole family's hair for about 40+ years. I agree it should be wet hair. Plus the tension used when rolling makes a HUGE difference. I think a good idea would be to watch some Dominican stylists blow and roller set. I am fro Cape Town South Africa and rolling hair is our thing. We also blow dry very well. The closest to what we do is the Dominican stylists. We also blow dry using a round brush like they do but better..... More like Gillian Garcia does. When my ladies do my hair there is no need to flatiron.

    • @FitBabe
      @FitBabe 5 місяців тому +1

      @@CurlyCrowie Thanks for the tip. I’ll be checking out the Dominican stylists to see how they do it. I think a roller set would be a nice alternative to flat ironing.

    I think you did great! I would say:
    1. Smaller sections. Literally double the number of sections you have until you get the tension right.
    2. More tension when you are rolling. My hair isn’t nearly as thick as yours and it took me forever to learn how to get the correct amount of tension while rolling but it’s makes the world of difference. No amount of time under the dryer can sub in for good tension during the roller set.
    3. Less product. I would say leave in and heat protection to blow dry. Then just mousse to wrap. And like 1 pump per section. You shouldn’t need to apply heat protection at every step especially since no direct heat is being used.

    • @SteffyP623
      @SteffyP623 4 місяці тому

      This! And may I also add:
      4. Don’t use Velcro rollers. The ones with the fuzz can actually cause frizz and tangle. Try plastic rollers and pins under a dryer. Heated rollers are great too if your hair is already stretched

    Loooooove your hair and don't beat yourself up...trial and error is a good thing. And it doesn't look bad at all. Smaller sections would be my only suggestion and some naturals give it a "light" press as well (totally optional). But smaller sections are the key.

    I used to do wet sets (use rollers) when my hair was relaxed. The tighter the hair is pinned around the roller the smoother the curls will be. If too much hair is wrapped around one roller, the hair will be puffy and frizzy - even on relaxed hair. I would suggest trying it again with more rollers and using large bobby pins to hold the hair around the rollers. Clips did not hold my hair tight enough around the roller. I commend your creativity and experimentation. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I would like to straighten my strands with rollers. My one attempt was a fail.

    I liked your hair. I do roller sets all the time. I use the magnetic rollers. The smaller the roller, the tighter the curl. For your length of hair, i probably would use that 3rd size roller all the way around. I usually air dry most of the way then i only have to sit under hooded dryer about 30 minutes. I do not use a heat protectant, just curl creme. Your hair is beautiful! Definitely try your roller set again. Tfs.

    I think you did good. Next time I would use a heat protectant then rev air my hair . No mouse. After you rev air your hair. Apply a light coat of heat protectant serum and roller brush your hair with the revolve thermal brush or something similar. Put the rollers on your hair after each section you use the revolve thermal brush on. Leave the rollers in until your hair cools. Then remove the rollers. At night before you go to bed use flexi rods satin rollers to keep your blow out look. I hope my instructions make sense.

    If you want to do a roller set on dry hair, start with freshly washed and deep conditioned hair. Then, use the rev air with no other product on the hair. Then, section out the hair. Use curling cream(like the one from Lustrasilk)and a curling iron to form the curls, then use the velcro rollers with roller papers wrapped around the roller and roll the hair in the direction you want it to go.
    Hope this helps.
    Beautiful hair, Joy-El🎉❤

    It would have worked well the key is in the products. You need something to keep it smooth and slick on the rollers. The other thing is you need to use a blend of apricot oil and Aragan oil. This helps to smooth the hair and keep it from reverting and frizz. These are the keys. I can send you a recipe on a diy style aid they will smooth and silk down your hair to allow it to dry smoother.
    The method I’m suggesting is doing a wet roller set with the correct product to allow a smooth silky dry and smooth.
    BTW Velcro rollers are good when your hair is already straight and smooth. Magnetic rollers on a wet roller set will provide the results that your looking for. Ask your mom about lottabody and the oil blend I suggested and you will get a beautiful smooth straight look without blow drying or flat ironing. It is essential you use sufficient product. Use the product. It needs to coat your hair adequately.
    FYI I am a former licenses cosmetologist. Get a hooded dryer. And before you do this do a castor oil oil treatment to help provide moisture and soften your hair before starting the process. It will make a massive difference.

    Your hair is gorgeous. I think you would benefit from having your hair cut into layers. Layers allow you to keep length while softening hair styles so the bottom isn't so heavy.

    The process didn’t make sense to me but I was along for the ride 😅
    It seemed counterproductive to add foam after drying the hair with the revair

    I find it so interesting to see people dry their hair before putting it in rollers. I grew up with my Caribbean mum wash her hair and putting it in rollers while wet and then she would go and sit under her hood on low to let it dry. Later, she had one that you could put on your head and it looked like a bouncy castle. She did that every Sunday. It wasn't until UA-cam that I discovered people dry their hair first with these.
    She had metal clips though, and you need to put them closer to your head. Hard to explain, but you slide them on, on the side of the roller that is touching your head. And she would always roll under and tight too! I have never seen her put a single product in her hair though, no heat protectant, no mousse, nothing. Different times, I guess... I do rollers myself every now and then too, but my hair is much looser than hers (I'm mixed race), more a European texture, so it goes a lot faster for me. It does get big though.

      Oh, another thing: she would start on top of her head, with a middle row first, then the sides, then the bottom. The top middle roller is the one she would test to see if the hair was fully dried.

      That's how we did it back in the day when most of us had relaxed hair and frequented the salon. Personally, I like wet sets on my natural hair and natural hair in general, but the reason why naturals seem to do things on dry blown out hair is to combat shrinkage.

      @LethalLemonLime Also because it takes forever for our hair to dry and most don't have a professional salon dryer at home.
