@@WydPerky He put everything he had into the start and the turn... he didn't leave enough for the home stretch to stave off Lyles, which is Lyles strength (top end speed after the turn). I think Lyles was waiting a bit to gauge where Knighton was through the turn. Knighton exploded through that turn and opened up a solid lead though and Lyles really had to turn that up. That gave Lyles the benefit of seeing his target while Knighton had no idea where Lyles was until it was too late. That finger point was cold though, that's confidence.

Agreed, he starred to tighten up coming off the turn and drifted wide in his running lane. You could also see him stiffening up 120 meters into the race as a result. He has to learn to trust his start and relax going into the turn, instead of going all out the first 100 meters...he just flamed out at the end.

I think he knows it’s only a matter of time until Erryion hits his full potential. And on the trajectory Knighton is on now, even for someone like Lyles who is a top 5 all-time 200m sprinter. Knighton is going to be better. Erryion’s doing things that even Lyles couldn’t do at the same stage of development like qualifying for the Olympics and finishing 4th in the final. Taking down Bolt’s age group world record. Signing major pro contracts before even finishing high school. I think Lyles is overcompensating because he knows he the clock is ticking and he wants as much limelight as he can get right now.
